Inspiration behind the World Cup Wedding Styled Shoot by Sara Holland of At Your Door Events

Futbol/Soccer fans are loyal, committed and passionate for their team, their players and their country. A similar and uncanny set of character values can be found in a couple that is engaged to be married. They are loyal to each other, they are committed to the success of their marriage and they are passionate for one another.Every four years, there is a serge of energy felt globally that only the World Cup can bring. The attention of millions of hearts and souls are all focused on the success of their country’s team. The World Cup is so much more than just a competition – it’s about unity and chemistry. A wedding inspired by the World Cup is grounded in the same ideology – it’s romantic, hopeful and electric.

The styling for this shoot was inspired by the 2014 World Cup host country – Brazil. Overall, the look is influenced by global textures, colors and the spirit of the game.

Wedding Ceremony: The most sacred place on the field is where the results are made, the goalkeepers area box. So we created a wedding ceremony space that would be worthy of the commitment the couple is making to each other and surrounded them with the flags of the 32 countries competing in the 2014 World Cup. Vintage trophies triumphantly hold florals and religious candles remind us of the sanctity of their commitment.

Tablescape: The scarf is almost like a badge of honor for a futbol fan. These scarves were the foundation for our table design and tropical florals were layered over chippy vintage textures to give the design a very global and collected look.

Wedding Cake, Candy and Desserts: Traditional Brazilian Brigadero’s, brightly colored French Macrons and festive confetti on the wedding cake make for a cheerfully international celebration! The South American styling with rich hues and vintage textures are continued in these area to sweeten these iconic wedding day moments.

From Niloufar Gibson at Perfectly Made Weddings

Idea and inspiration behind the shoot:

One word: Piñata! The idea and inspiration came from my obsession of piñatas. As a child I had a few piñata birthday parties, and it was always filled with great joy and happiness. I always looked forward to hitting that piñata and seeing all the candy fall to the ground to rush and grab as many candies as my little hands could hold. It was a happy day! Since I am totally in love with weddings, and that is one of the happiest day of a couple’s life, I wanted to incorporate my love of piñatas into a wedding day. I really loved the idea of adding a bit more bright and bold colors, and fun to the wedding day.  The piñata was not just a décor piece, but I actually wanted the bride and groom to hit the piñata and see the joy in their faces. I really wanted to make couples and their guests feel that joy and happiness that I felt as a child, and really make their wedding day a total party! When choosing the team of vendors to join me on this shoot, I have to say, it was easy and with no doubt knew they would make this an incredible day! As soon as I uttered the word piñata and Cinco de Mayo inspired wedding, everyone was on board. The best part? Everyone went beyond my expectations, and that made for such an awesome day! My piñata and wedding loving heart was totally happy.

Theme:  Cinco de Mayo inspired wedding reception with a rustic touch.  Bride and groom celebrating in true fiesta style for their wedding reception.

Color Palette: Bright and bold colors with gold accents.

Fashion:  We chose a gorgeous bridal gown which flowed beautifully, and a tan tuxedo with a pop of color to compliment the Cinco de Mayo theme.

Red Riding Hood Inspired Styled Shoot

I have and always will be a lover of fairytales and storybook dreams. Of course when this is combined so gorgeously with a wedding, then I am totally head over heels. That is exactly what happened on this gorgeous Monday morning. How does the wedding of  Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf look like? It is more than I could have imagined. When Blissful Events, Rachel Miller of Fatty Freckles, and the amazing team behind this beautiful styled shoot got together, a lovely fairytale was written. The most beautiful bride looking oh so beautiful with that red cape. Dark, exquisite, and stunning details which has me falling in love with this tale all over again. Thank you to Nerinna Studios for capturing all the elegant details and delivering the most breathtaking images. Mondays are not so bad when you have a styled shoot like this one.

From Blissful Events …

We wanted to have something fun yet dark for this shoot. So we thought what a better way to do that than Little Red Riding Hood Gone Bridal. =) Inspired by the children’s story, this was a very fun and colorful shoot. We used lots of deep, dark reds and blacks and golds. We choose a location that looked like it was out in the wild. Sanborn Park in Saratoga was the perfect venue for this shoot as it provided a space where Red could “run” from the wolf! The two piece Waters gown was amazing along with a dark red cape for Red to feel herself in.

From Perfectly Made Weddings

Idea and inspiration behind the shoot:

The idea and inspiration came from the designer’s love for romantic, rustic and vintage details. Since Valentine’ Day was coming up, we wanted to create a  romantic picnic style setting for a couple celebrating their love with each other. Simple, but full of love.  Valentine’s Day seems to always be about going out to a fancy restaurant and sharing a nice dinner with a whole lot of other couples. Often, couples find going out is crowded and not as private and romantic. So instead,  the idea was that we wanted to create a very intimate setting with a lovely picnic, surrounded by nature’s pretty details. This was to bring about a feeling of romance, while celebrating their love with just the two of them there. The setting? Thomas F. Riley Wilderness Park. It was the perfect location to set up a picnic.  We wanted to make the couple feel like they were the only ones in the middle of a gorgeous outdoor setting.  The concept of the picnic was simple.  We really did not want to over decorate and take away from the couple’s love for each other. We added a few items to compliment the couple’s true love. Simple does not allow for any interruptions or frills, just a romantic day with the one you love.

Color palette:

The main color palette for the shoot consists of neutral colors, soft blushes and ivories, and pairing them with gold.

Fashion: We wanted to stay with a Valentine’s Day theme while keeping it simple with soft fabrics and romantic details.

From Perfectly Made Weddings

Idea and inspiration behind the shoot:

The idea and inspiration came from the designer’s love for sophisticated, elegant,  and classical details.  The wedding day seems to always be about the bride and her details, but what about the groom? We really wanted the groom to have his own spotlight as well. So, how does the day look like when a groom and his men are hanging out the day of a winter styled wedding in a very elegant and classy setting? We choose Mastro’s Steakhouse for it’s contemporary, sophisticated, and elegant ambiance. The concept was to create a very sophisticated and masculine feel for the day of wedding for the groom and his men. The location is a perfect compliment for this chic and sophisticated look.

Color palette:

The main color palette for the shoot consists of greys, serene blues and silvers.

Fashion: We wanted to stay with winter inspired wardrobe, while keeping it simple and chic.  The groom is wearing a light grey Allure Heather tux, while the groomsmen are wearing Allure Heather Charcoal tuxes.

Stylist, Hope Stanley tells us…
We wanted it to have the intimacy of a couple who ran away to be married in a small town. The bride is from Spain so we wanted to have a classic European feel of a small village in the country. Scripps college served as the perfect background.

Photography Workshop + Vineyard Styled Shoot by Hope Stanley and Nancy Orozco

We’ve got something super special on the site today. I am so excited that my wedding-loving heart is bursting with joy! You know how much I love weddings and all the pretty details that come with them. You also know that I love the photographers that capture all the lovely, romantic, and beautiful details. If it was not for the incredibly talented professional wedding photographers, I totally would miss out on so many gorgeous wedding details. And THAT would be a such a bummer.  If I was not able to view pretty images, one after another, my job would be really boring and dull. But when you have amazing weddings and a photographer on hand to capture it all? Then you have yourself a happy day. Yep, I can look through wedding photos all day long and never get bored. You can imagine how happy I was when I received news from my friend and bridal stylist, Hope Stanley about a photography workshop and styled shoot that she planned. When I heard about it,  I almost fell out of my chair.  The images? I probably viewed them like 100 times, and it was pretty hard to choose which ones to feature.  See for yourself, and you will see what I am so in love with!

Hope Stanley tells us a bit about the workshop…

I co-hosted a workshop with photographer, Nancy Orozco and other photographers. The idea was to teach photographers how to shoot photos for blogs. I spoke with them on how to work with vendors and models, and stressed  the importance of acknowledging everyone that is involved with organizing a photo shoot.  I try to convey to brides how important it is to have a group of professionals work together hand and hand. For instance for this workshop or any styled photo shoot we plan,  we choose a location, a theme or feel, and the gown and tux. We then research on the hair and makeup that will complement that entire feel. A florist is then given a story board of location, gown, make up, hair and theme of wedding. When  planning a wedding you need to do the same and remember that when vendors work together,  your photos will turn out amazing.

Rustic Fall Wedding Inspired Styled Shoot by Manya Photography

I have to admit, I do not want to say good-bye to the fall season quite yet. I just love all the fall details, and when combined with weddings, then I am really in trouble. I love the colors, the smells, the cool weather, the rustic details, and delicious foods. (pumpkin pie!). So, to keep the fall loving details going a little longer, we thought to add a bit of fall wedding inspiration on the agenda this week. Fall in Southern California can be really pretty. Especially when you have talented stylist, Hope Stanley, and fabulous florist, Sarah Toner of Floral Riot on hand to style and design the most romantic and beautifully styled shoot. Oh, and add  Manya Photography to capture it all? Then you have yourself an amazing fall inspired wedding shoot with breathtaking photos guaranteed to knock your pretty little socks off. There are so many pretty details that are competing for my fall loving heart. The lovely trees, the beautiful tabletop, the gorgeous surroundings, the stunning blooms, and the sweet couple adorned with the loveliest of details. I can go on for hours or even days about this shoot, but I think its best if you see what I am so obviously obsessed with.

The inspiration...

From Event Stylist, Hope Stanley…

What inspired me was the gold on the gown. I wanted something that would keep with more of the retro feel of the gown with out being to formal and stiff. I chose blue shoes to add a bit of personality and to make the gown suited more for a young bride eloping. The tie has touches of the blue and gold in the paisley print. We wanted to keep the setting natural and fall inspired Deer plates with a hint of blue where used and gold antique silver. We wanted the feel of a woodland cabin but outside in the fall.

From Sarah Toner of Floral Riot
I saw the gold embellishments in the dress. They were very detailed. Coupling that with the fall shoot, I started with French marigolds. They have the brown accents just like the beading on the dress. From there I choose fall foliage (maple, oak and ginkgo). Ginkgo has the fluttery golden leaves, which I love. Cream tuberose was added for its fragrance and golden celosia provided the visual highlight for the piece.

From Steve of Colorful Snapshots

Take Time to stop and smell the roses on your wedding day. This ‘Timeless’ Style Wedding shoot was inspired by the idea to remind every bride & groom to take TIME to stop and enjoy the moment. Freeze time and take in your beautiful day; after what seems as thousands of hours of planning and making sure every detail is picture perfect, when the big day finally comes, it seems to be over with a blink of an eye. Our inspiration shoot was located in San Juan Capistrano at the Hamilton Oak Winery, with the lovely orange groves as the back drop and the blue skies above us. Color palette was easily selected based on natural elements of earth tones of brown and cream with pops of rose, teal and blue. Aleah from A la Carte flowers created a romantic bouquet for the gorgeous bride whom looked as if she was painted into the setting. The colorful florals blended in beautifully with the whimsical table setting created by Jake Duke Studios. Large vintage clocks and chandeliers were hung and styled the lounge area under the giant oak tree that created a relaxing atmosphere. The charming dessert bar was brought to life by the very talented Melissa of Sweet Missy’s Cookies and Lisa of Cupcakes by Lisa, they not only looked incredible but they were delicious too! Colorful Snapshot Photography captured each scene of the day beautifully freezing each detail to be remembered as ‘time passes’ ever so quickly.

From Carmen of Expressionary Events

The idea and inspiration came from the designers’ love for the outdoors and romantic picnics. There is a certain allure and serenity of being in the outdoors among the trees and nature. We choose Rancho Las Lomas, a beautiful garden venue that is surrounded by citrus trees, stunning architecture, and exotic wildlife. This venue provides couples with plenty of opportunities to incorporate a rustic chic feel at every corner of the property. The concept was to create a whimsical yet rustic style wedding for brides that want to have a more causal and intimate wedding but may not know how to accomplish the look or feel.

Elements included in the shoot:

  • Different floral patterns as well as wood elements were chosen to complement the outdoor elements in the shoot.
  • Color palette: The main color palette for the shoot consisted of jewel tones such as pink, purples and ivory
  • Bride fashion & jewelry: For the bride, we chose a dress that really tied in the theme all together. The sweetheart neckline and tulle gown made the look very whimsical. Small lace and beaded embellishments creating a romantic feel.
  • Bride  Jewelry:  We kept the look simple with a tear drop necklace, and matching bracelets. The statement piece was the gorgeous Grecian inspired headpiece by AlwaysAri.
  • Grooms Fashion: We kept the Groom very casual in khaki pants,a plaid dress shirt, and suspenders with a faux leather bow tie made by AlwaysAri to complement the ‘Rustic Picnic Theme. Keeping the tie into the romantic elements
  • Bride hair & make-up: The Bride’s makeup was done really soft with pinks and pastels to create a very natural yet whimsical feel. Her hair was half up half down with multiple braids to create the very outdoor and natural look with relaxed curls. Her hair was finished off with a Grecian headpiece fit for any bride looking to make a statement on her wedding day.
  • Flowers & event décor: For the table scape gray and white toned linen was used to blend nicely with the trunk like vase that held jewel toned flowers of pinks and purples. Bamboo place mats were placed underneath a ivory plate and special silverware with garden engraved pictures finished off the table décor. Wine and berries were incorporated to bring in elements of a rustic picnic wedding.
  • Cake: The cake was decorated with rosettes and floral to complement the theme. The cake sat on a special designed cake stand made out of wood and milk glass.  The table was adorned with a knife and server decorated with the same designs as the silverware on the table.

We want couples to get concepts from this shoot and be able to create it for their wedding day. Simply by choosing key statement pieces such as a headpiece or bamboo place mats can really make a difference in make something come to life at your event. Picnics are simple but with the right decor you can always bring elegance to anything.
