From the bride…

We met on an online dating website called Plenty of Fish. I created a profile on a whim. He already had one and had gone out with a bunch of ‘crazies’ as he puts it. He went on to delete his profile and it was my first day on the site… I showed up in his ‘you might be interested in’ section and he sent me an e-mail. We exchanged e-mails, spoke on the phone and he asked me out. He showed up with a bouquet of white roses. We talked and laughed the whole time and we both knew we were done in.

Steven purposed to me September 28, 2013 we were having a BBQ. We had invited lots of old friends and Steve just felt it was the right time. We were all sitting on the patio and he got down on one knee, with our puppy Pepper on my lap, I cried and said YES!!!

My vision for the wedding was vintage, casual chic. I was very inspired by the 50’s and early 60’s and wanted to set tradition on its ear. I wanted shades of mint, blush and cream. I wanted the boys to be jacket less and wear converse. The chapel only held 100 people so our ceremony was rather small. My aunt had gotten married there and my grandparents had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary there. It was quaint, vintage and had a southern baptist feel that I loved!!

There were many aspects of the ceremony that made it unique and that’s what I was going for. The chapel was special to our family and my cousin’s husband officiated the wedding. I picked the music meticulously… it was all acoustic guitar. The family walked out to ‘Dream A Little Dream’, my bridesmaids walked out to ‘Moonriver’ and I walked out to the traditional bridal march on acoustic guitar wearing a pink and champagne dress. The boys each wore mint bowties of different patterns that I commissioned a friend to make. I picked out our vows after reading hundreds of renditions and am so happy with the ones that were chosen. And, finally after we were pronounced husband and wife we danced down the aisle to Hall & Oates ‘You Make My Dreams’.

Our reception was at the Anaheim Community Center and had a very vintage prom feel. We had a company stage the place with lights, dj, bartenders and a Photobooth. It was amazing and so fun! The food was awesome and the cake and cupcakes could not have been better. Everything turned out perfectly. All of the little details came together, but most importantly we were surrounded by love we had the best party ever! And that was what we were going for!

On the Thursday before the wedding one of my maids of honor went with me to the flower mart in LA and picked up bunches of flowers that would compliments the pink and white roses my mom already picked up for the centerpieces. That night I had all the bridesmaids over for a bouquet making party and we all made our own bouquets. In mine I was sure to add a dried white rose that I had kept from Steven and my first date.

The cake was another 50’s inspiration! Swiss dots. My mom baked my favorite cookies (Snickerdoodles) and we packaged them in threes for each guest.

From Perfectly Made Weddings

Idea and inspiration behind the shoot:

The idea and inspiration came from the designer’s love for romantic, rustic and vintage details. Since Valentine’ Day was coming up, we wanted to create a  romantic picnic style setting for a couple celebrating their love with each other. Simple, but full of love.  Valentine’s Day seems to always be about going out to a fancy restaurant and sharing a nice dinner with a whole lot of other couples. Often, couples find going out is crowded and not as private and romantic. So instead,  the idea was that we wanted to create a very intimate setting with a lovely picnic, surrounded by nature’s pretty details. This was to bring about a feeling of romance, while celebrating their love with just the two of them there. The setting? Thomas F. Riley Wilderness Park. It was the perfect location to set up a picnic.  We wanted to make the couple feel like they were the only ones in the middle of a gorgeous outdoor setting.  The concept of the picnic was simple.  We really did not want to over decorate and take away from the couple’s love for each other. We added a few items to compliment the couple’s true love. Simple does not allow for any interruptions or frills, just a romantic day with the one you love.

Color palette:

The main color palette for the shoot consists of neutral colors, soft blushes and ivories, and pairing them with gold.

Fashion: We wanted to stay with a Valentine’s Day theme while keeping it simple with soft fabrics and romantic details.

San Francisco, California Wedding from Manya Photography

San Francisco, California will forever be one of my favorite cities. Growing up as a Southern California girl with my heart close to the lovely beaches, beautiful weather, and wonderful friends and family, I have always considered Southern California my home. That being said, I am really drawn to Northern California, and the city of San Francisco specifically. I think its the fabulous combo of  city life, great cuisines, fantastic shopping, unique details which brings back to this amazing city.  That is why today I am overjoyed with this gorgeous San Francisco wedding.  It has all the details that has my city loving heart in total overdrive.  Even though no photographs were allowed during the ceremony, I have to say that I am not totally sad about that. The images from the bride and groom and their reception are evidence that these two share such an amazing love for each other. The happiness totally shows. Thank you to the very talented  Manya Photography  for capturing all the romantic and lovely images.

From Manya Photography

Brian & Anna got married in San Francisco, California. My first San Francisco wedding! The weather was perfect with beautiful blue skies and cool air. Brian & Anna met at a mutual friends gathering but Anna admitted that she had seen Brian around town and was interested. Anna is Russian, so they had a Russian ceremony. There were no photos taken during the ceremony so you won’t see any, but I assure you it was wonderful! The day started out at Potrero Hill and ended at the Ferry Building for photos. The Ferry Building is Brian’s favorite! Anna wanted to get a photo with a Street Car and we happened to be at the right place at the right time and got it! The reception had a beautiful view of the San Francisco bay. It was a clear day so you could see everything. The bride’s niece Joanna made her beautiful sash for her dress as well as the bride’s headpiece and veil. All put together using feathers and antique broaches. Chai is a big deal with the Russian culture.  The bride’s sister put together a special display of different teas for people to drink in beautiful teapots and a Russian samovar.  All in all it was a beautiful wedding day!

Rustic Fall Wedding Inspired Styled Shoot by Manya Photography

I have to admit, I do not want to say good-bye to the fall season quite yet. I just love all the fall details, and when combined with weddings, then I am really in trouble. I love the colors, the smells, the cool weather, the rustic details, and delicious foods. (pumpkin pie!). So, to keep the fall loving details going a little longer, we thought to add a bit of fall wedding inspiration on the agenda this week. Fall in Southern California can be really pretty. Especially when you have talented stylist, Hope Stanley, and fabulous florist, Sarah Toner of Floral Riot on hand to style and design the most romantic and beautifully styled shoot. Oh, and add  Manya Photography to capture it all? Then you have yourself an amazing fall inspired wedding shoot with breathtaking photos guaranteed to knock your pretty little socks off. There are so many pretty details that are competing for my fall loving heart. The lovely trees, the beautiful tabletop, the gorgeous surroundings, the stunning blooms, and the sweet couple adorned with the loveliest of details. I can go on for hours or even days about this shoot, but I think its best if you see what I am so obviously obsessed with.

The inspiration...

From Event Stylist, Hope Stanley…

What inspired me was the gold on the gown. I wanted something that would keep with more of the retro feel of the gown with out being to formal and stiff. I chose blue shoes to add a bit of personality and to make the gown suited more for a young bride eloping. The tie has touches of the blue and gold in the paisley print. We wanted to keep the setting natural and fall inspired Deer plates with a hint of blue where used and gold antique silver. We wanted the feel of a woodland cabin but outside in the fall.

From Sarah Toner of Floral Riot
I saw the gold embellishments in the dress. They were very detailed. Coupling that with the fall shoot, I started with French marigolds. They have the brown accents just like the beading on the dress. From there I choose fall foliage (maple, oak and ginkgo). Ginkgo has the fluttery golden leaves, which I love. Cream tuberose was added for its fragrance and golden celosia provided the visual highlight for the piece.

From Manya Photography...

Meet Johnnie & Amy: They are both such a sweet and lovely couple. You can see how much love they have for each other. It is so obvious!  They choose Crystal Cove, Newport Beach for their engagement shoot because it’s where Johnnie proposed to Amy. How sweet is that?  I always like my couples to feel comfortable, have a lot of fun, and to join in on the creativity. I tell my couples if they want to try out something, I’m all for it! I love capturing such a milestone in a couple’s lives. It was special to be part of that moment. It was a great experience. They were a lot of fun to work with. They love to smile, laugh, be romantic, silly and sweet, those are my favorite type of couples. I’m was honored to be Johnnie & Amy’s wedding photographer. They got married in Kerman, CA and  had a traditional Russian wedding.

Our lovely model was Taylor Dukes and our location was the Quail Hill Trailhead in Irvine, California. I wanted to shoot a beautiful bridal gown in a big open field because I pictured this beautiful bridal gown that is soft, romantic, with modern touches in an open field that was opposite of the couture gown. When I saw the gown on Taylor, it reminded me of a ballerina. So I chose the simple hairstyle of a bun with braids with a silver strip of lace added for decoration. The gown has so much texture to it that I didn’t want to take away from it. So the hair, makeup and accessories were kept simple. If you are wondering where the poodle came from, well a women was walking her dog and I thought it would be perfect to photograph with Taylor’s dress. I went ahead and asked the women if I can photograph the dog for the shoot, and she agreed. She was super nice and the poodle was well behaved! All in all, it was a lovely bridal shoot.
