Citrus State Park Wedding

A wedding after my Orange County hometown heart. Growing up in Orange County, California, there were so many orange trees all over the town, that you can smell the lovely scent of citrus. I loved that smell as it always put a huge smile on my face. When I received this gorgeous wedding from Jaime Davis Photography,  I knew it was going to be amazing. First of all because she is one of my favorite photographers, and secondly because of the beautiful location. Orange trees all around, just like my childhood, and I could not stop smiling after each and every image. The memories came back, and my heart is happy.  Enjoy the pretty details from this Citrus State Park wedding. You may need to grab a cup of coffee because I think you will want to  browse through the images a  few times. I am on my third cup. Yeah its THAT good.

From Jaime Davis Photography

Chelsea and Justin’s wedding day was located at Citrus State Park in Riverside, California. I was over the moon when I found out the location because I have always wanted to shoot a wedding at an orange grove. This wedding’s location was amazing, but what was even more amazing was the sweet and romantic moments these two shared. Chelsea and Justin exchanged Justin’s grandparent’s wedding bands, and I almost lost it. I teared up at this moment because I love all things that has to do with family history. It was so special and very personable. What an honor to capture such a intimate moment.  The rest of the day was a blast while taking photos of the gorgeous couple, family, and friends, and other fun and sweet moments.

I was honored to be apart of Chelsea and Justin’s big day! Congrats XOXO

Mad Men Inspired Engagement Session

If you are a big fan of the popular show Mad Men like we are, then you will absolutely love this engagement session from  Love in Photographs. This gorgeous couple definitely knows how to show off their stylish, fashionable, and sophisticated looks.  There is something so classy and elegant about this e-session that has us totally in love. We LOVE the red Ferrari which brings this session up to a very glamorous level. And when you have a stunning couple like this one, then the Ferrari is not the only detail we are in love with This couple owns this session.  They were made for this urban and lovely setting.  How fabulous do they look? We think they look amazing! This session kind of makes us want to go back and watch more episodes of Mad Men, and get into the 1960’s era.  Take a look and get inspired with these fantastic images. You may want to sneak in an episode of Mad Men before starting your day.

Mona & Spencer, a super fun pair both filled with so much charm & wit! For their engagement session they wanted to have a Madmen inspired session; all glammed up in San Francisco with Spencer’s father’s 1975 Ferarri as a prop – and so we did!

San Diego California Estate Wedding

Whimsical, romantic, and beautiful, are the three words that we chose to describe this estate wedding. Tucked away within the lush forests and gorgeous gardens in San Diego, California, the couple said “I do”, with their closest friends and family. Then throw in some pretty artistic and lovely details created by the bride herself, then this wedding is worth chatting about. We love it when brides add their personal touch to make their wedding day even more magical. But what is distracting us at the moment is the seriously gorgeous floral swing which has our wedding loving hearts full of love. Take a look at what JEFF+AMBER had a chance to capture at this stunning wedding.

From JEFF+AMBER

Brooke and Michael have such a unique bond between their families and you could see and feel the love the whole entire day through.   Brooke did all their details and artwork herself as she comes from an amazingly talented family of artists.

Every detail was so unique, the love and heartfelt words that came out of every speech was so inspiring!  It felt as if everyone that attended their wedding day knew they where special to even be a part of this group!

There is a true sense of gratitude when you get to witness love as strong as these two have!  Dad’s tears and speech about turning Michael away when he first asked to propose because he knew Michael wasn’t fully the person he was able to be left the whole crowd breathless.  Then to hear that Michael went off to become a Doctor to further win the hand and blessing of her father was something out of a love story.

When you browse through our favorites it’s important for you to know these details as it builds their special story so much more!  Not only are they the cutest, sweetest and most genuine people we’ve had the privilege to get to know and capture, they are true friends and good people.

Top Five Most Romantic Spots in San Francisco

There’s a reason why people keep leaving their hearts in San Francisco. It’s a beautiful diverse city with so much to explore and enjoy- especially if you’re there with someone you love. Next time you’re out there, or if you’re nearby and have some time to kill, swing by our five favorite places in the beautiful city by the bay.

Ghirardelli Square

BHLSF1.jpg.jpg

Yes, it’s touristy. Yes, parking is bad (heads up- San Francisco is a hard city to park in). But SF’s own Ghirardelli Square is beautiful, romantic, and a fantastic place to be.Ghirardelli Square is right on the pier overlooking the bay and offers free-WiFi (as if you need an extra reason to go). There are a few different places to eat, including Ghirardelli’s own in-house dessert shop. You can get a look at the whole Ghirardelli range, munch on some sample chocolate, and sip on a Ghirardelli hot cocoa while listening to free live music play in the square. Did we mention the insanely beautiful view? This square is a must-see.

Pier 39

BHLSF2.jpg.jpg

Another tourist-favorite, Pier 39 is a fun spot along the water in San Francisco that you can easily spend a whole day in. There are a ton of restaurants, snack places, and neat niche shops to cruise around in. There’s a beautiful carousel at the end of the pier, and of course the sea lions. Oh, the sea lions. They’re loud, they’re smelly, and they’re absolutely fascinating. It’s a beautiful place to stroll for the day hand in hand with so much to do and see.

Boudin Bread Factory

BHLSF3.jpg.jpg

Have you heard of the world-famous San Francisco Sourdough? It’s Boudin, and it’s totally worth it. Boudin has a few locations around the city (and even a few outside of San Francisco- there’s one in Disney’s California Adventure!) but the best location is at Fisherman’s Wharf. This location is right on the water and is a working bread factory. Skip the Union Square location for the real thing and watch your food be made. You can pick up a specialty bread (like the alligator or turtle bread above) and an amazing meal. This location offers a full restaurant with specialty seafood dishes to enjoy while you look out over the water. If you have dinner upstairs, you can get free tickets to the bread tour downstairs (which is our tourist-hack). If you fall in love, you can even sign up for specialty sourdough loaves to be delivered to your door (or someone else’s- this makes for a really unique wedding gift!).

Palace of Fine Arts

BHLSF5.jpg.jpg

The Palace of Fine Arts has probably the trickiest parking on our list, but is one of the most beautiful. This is a gorgeous standing example of beautiful architecture and has a swan pond within (seriously- it’s the most beautiful thing ever). If you’re really craving some romance, swing by on a Saturday afternoon. More often than not you’ll find wedding photos being taken, if not an actual wedding taking place. This writer can name several couples who got engaged here, all of which are still together (one having just celebrated their twenty fifth wedding anniversary!). Do yourself a favor and take your sweetheart here for some pictures- you won’t regret it.

California Academy of Sciences

BHL4-2.jpg.jpg

BHLSF4-3.jpg.jpg

BHLSF4-1.jpg.jpg

The Academy of Science is beautiful, fun, and one of the most unique dates you can go on in San Francisco. The Academy of Science was in the last ten years renovated and become a fixture in the city. It features regular rotating exhibits but also is home to a gorgeous aquarium, butterfly habitat, and many mammal-fixated exhibits. Once a month, the Academy of Science opens its’ doors to the 21+ crowd and puts up bars and small dance areas throughout. Whether you want to learn and explore one of the most unique museums in the country or you want to do so with a margarita in hand, this is the perfect romantic spot in the city for you and your honey.

Belmont Shore, California Photo Session from Jaime Davis Photography

Monday morning is looking pretty romantic right about now. Thanks to Jaime Davis Photography and her mad photography skills to capture the sweet moments between a couple who has been married seven years. It is moments like this one, that has me loving my job more and more each and every day. What I love about this session is that you would think that it was their engagement session, but it is not! When I first received the gorgeous images, I really did think that this was an e-session. It was all due to strong and pure love that is  popping out from each and every image. What is so amazing is how Jaime Davis Photography knows exactly what to do for her couples and make them feel super comfortable and relaxed.

Meet Cortney and Travis. They have been together for 7 years and have an adorable daughter. What I offer couples that have been together more than a period of time is a session what I like to call the Beloved Session. It is a unique and emotional photo session for couples that have been together longer than 3 years. Instead of capturing posed images I give my clients things to say or do that maybe you have never done before or have not done recently in your relationship. By giving you cues or things to say it creates a genuine photograph that represents the two of you.
Cortney and Travis are a fun loving, easy going couple and that is reflected in most all of these photographs. My couples says they walk away as if their relationship has been renewed or having a greater appreciation for the other person.
Jaime Davis Photography is offering $100 off any Beloved session until Sept 1st! If you are interested in sharing some romantic moments with your love, contact Jaime Davis Photography and book your session today!  email: jaime@jaimedavisphoto.com

Weddings at the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA)

I love Wedding Wednesdays, and today I am obsessing over a fabulous venue which has me stopped in my tracks. Literally! I thought I had seen all the unique and beautiful venues in Southern California, until I visited this one. Tucked away in the heart of Long Beach, California, this lovely spot is a treasure worth searching for. I remember when I was looking for the venue, and thought I was lost, I was really saddened.  But once I looked over, and I saw the gorgeous and modern  details of the building, my heart skipped a beat. The Museum of Latin American Art was more than I had expected.   I was already in love with the beautiful trees, and details of the outside decor, and actually took me awhile to step in. When I did? I was shocked. My mouth dropped so low, I had to literally shut it close. Not only does this venue offer fantastic  unique locations for both ceremony and reception, it is a museum showcasing some of the most amazing art! The art gallery alone is worth a visit! This location is the perfect spot for couples who love art and want that modern feel with a touch of Latin American flar. With an incredible staff, breathtaking ceremony and reception locations,  and exclusive catering offering delicious food, The Museum of Latin American Art is a great location to consider when getting married.

Venice Beach, California Engagement Session from Michelle Lacson Photography

If you have been following BHL for awhile now, you know that we love ourselves a pretty little engagement session. But when there are engagement sessions like this one that has us bursting with joy. It is all because of this sweet couple spending their e-session at the famous Venice Beach, California spot. Don’t get me wrong, I am pleasantly enjoying the lovely California winter days we are having. Cozy sweaters, boots, scarfs, and stylish jackets…my favorite things to wear for sure. Actually I love the cold weather wardrobe way better than the hot, summer wear.  But, I am totally missing the summer months, and it is all due to this gorgeous e-session featuring an adorable couple. How cute are they? Oh my goodness, so cute!  A darling couple beautifully captured by Michelle Lacson Photography. It is because of these images, that I want to push fast-forward and jump into summer.

This engagement session is guaranteed to knock your pretty little socks off. Go ahead, browse through the stunning images. I dare you!

From Michelle Lacson Photography

Meet Kara and Brian,  a couple who are the loveliest!  They chose the famous Venice Beach, California for their engagement session. They wanted to rent a bicycle built for two because thats what they did on their first date. How cute is that? I was totally on board to capture their bicycle ride. Super fun I have to say. Not only was this a unique idea for a session, but they were so sweet doing it. You can tell how much fun they were having. This couple is super sweet, and you can tell how in love they really are. Behind the lens, I would just smile in between each shot.  They made my job so easy by being such an easy going, fun loving pair. They are getting married this Summer, August 1, 2014.  Congrats to Kara and Brian!

From Manya Photography...

Meet Johnnie & Amy: They are both such a sweet and lovely couple. You can see how much love they have for each other. It is so obvious!  They choose Crystal Cove, Newport Beach for their engagement shoot because it’s where Johnnie proposed to Amy. How sweet is that?  I always like my couples to feel comfortable, have a lot of fun, and to join in on the creativity. I tell my couples if they want to try out something, I’m all for it! I love capturing such a milestone in a couple’s lives. It was special to be part of that moment. It was a great experience. They were a lot of fun to work with. They love to smile, laugh, be romantic, silly and sweet, those are my favorite type of couples. I’m was honored to be Johnnie & Amy’s wedding photographer. They got married in Kerman, CA and  had a traditional Russian wedding.

Newport Beach, California Wedding from David Marano Photography

I have to admit, I will never get tired of looking at all the gorgeous details of a wedding. It is just so amazing to witness a special day of a couple through all their beautiful photographs. This wedding is so romantic, that each and every detail screams sweet love.  The kind of wedding that has me stopping in my tracks because I just have to take a moment to breath in all the charm and prettiness.   I’ve seen my fair share of simple and classic weddings, but never before have I seen such love and heart-melting details from each and every moment of the wedding. I can not stop smiling. This wedding is just pure joy and happiness. The kind of feeling that every wedding should have. I want to crawl into the computer and be a guest at this wedding, so I can be be surrounded by all the joy and love that is so obviously  there. All beautifully captured by David Marano Photography, these images speak for themselves. So don’t hesitate for a moment, and instead take a look at the lovely images this wedding has to offer.

From the bride…

Our wedding was on March 23, 2013 and both the ceremony and reception were at The Crystal Cove Canyon Club in Newport Beach. Since I’m from Michigan and Erik is from New York, we chose this location because we knew although it wasn’t right on the beach, we could still have the beach feel, along with beautiful green valleys and blooming Spring flowers. The ceremony was in a beautiful area over looking the green valleys, and the reception was only feet away with the same beautiful, crisp view. The wedding was simple, classic, and elegant. The colors we chose were ivory, brown and hints of greens within the flowers. We chose neutral colors because our location was so extremely beautiful, the neutral colors just kept the classic look that we wanted, without being overpowering.  We had about 120 guests that included our closest friends and family. We had people traveling from Michigan, Maryland, Florida, Arizona, North Carolina, Virginia, Chicago, and New York. What a wonderful feeling to know that your loved ones will travel so far to spend your most beautiful day with you, and celebrate for a week! Since we are both in the service industry, we decided that a sit down dinner would be way too basic. Therefore, we chose to do buffet style, THE RIGHT WAY!! We had about 12 items on our menu created by Chef Rich Mead of Sage Restaurant, which included an oyster bar, lamb and cous cous, curry chicken, calamari ceviche… to name a few. It was outstanding and I am so happy we were able to have such fresh, creative items to share with everyone!

The day could of not been anymore perfect. My mom said I planned my wedding just as I said I always would. I loved the feeling of love that day and I can only hope that every bride experiences that wonderful feeling.

We are still getting compliments on our wedding photos!! Everyone was so in love with David Marano Photography. He never missed a moment and our pictures were just perfect. The colors and variety were absolutely breathtaking and we could not have been happier. We are so incredibly happy we were able to have them photograph our most special day!!

Santa Barbara Engagement Session from Silver Gecko Photography

I am kind of obsessed with engagement sessions. Yep,  I am totally in love with them.  Today’s e-session is sweet, romantic, and beautiful. Oh, and the best part? It is set at the gorgeous Southern California destination of Santa Barbara. A place where historical buildings are tucked between the mountains and the sea. Beautiful scenery and the most amazing details combined with an adorable couple equals pure perfection. When you add the very talented and (my personal fav), Silver Gecko Photography, then it is all over. Over in a pretty haze of beautiful images.   This e-session makes me want to pack  my bags, and travel with my husband to enjoy it all.  After viewing the stunning images, you may also choose to travel to this lovely destination!

This session was a lot of fun! I strive to create an experience for all my clients and I know I succeeded in doing so with Donay & Justin. Since Donay loves the architecture in Santa Barbara we started at the Santa Barbara Court House, which has some fantastic spots! I also like to include some personal interests and activities each couple enjoys. Justin mentioned to me they love playing pool together and the Santa Barbara Brewing Company was gracious enough to allow us to photograph in their lounge. For the most part I let Donay & Justin simply play a few games, have a drink, and relax while I photographed. (I even played a game of pool with Justin, he cleaned the table with me, but in my defense, he was already warmed up.) While at SB Brewing, Donay turned to me and said, “this is us”, which is exactly why we photographed there.

Wanting to photograph in one more location, Julia and I took Donay & Justin to a special beach we had found years ago. It seems to be more of a local beach, kind of secluded, and very beautiful. We even stopped on the train tracks nearby and shot some awesome photos with the setting sun and this amazing light cascading behind Donay & Justin.

This was definitely one of the longer sessions I’ve done, but when you’re in such a great area it’s nice to take the time to enjoy it, all while creating beautiful photos. I came home to find Donay had tagged me in a post on Facebook: “Shout out to Adam Parth for the greatest time shooting our engagement pics today!!! We had a blast and can’t wait to see the pics. Thank you and we look forward to the continuing process and the wedding!!”
