Alabama Summer Farm Wedding

On this lovely Monday, we are heading to the South for a gorgeous wedding with southern bliss in all the details. There is something so adorable and romantic about a barn wedding, and this wedding  definitely  has it all and more.  What has our attention are the succulents and greenery which make this Southern wedding prettier than ever. We love the sweet ceremony out on the lawn, with the most amazing decor such as a vintage door and the stunning florals. Oh, and of course the bride and groom and their wedding party are super cute which make us swoon over this wedding even more. The images from Mandy Owens Photography are stunning and capture all the moments perfectly. We love first looks, and when this adorable couple sees each other for the first time, it is so sweet! Even though we were not there for that special moment, we could feel the love between these two. If you thought your Monday was going to be a boring one, then you are in for a magical day with this Southern Farm Wedding. Enjoy !!

From Steven Miller Photography

Leanne and Jason’s wedding day is definitely a day we’ll never forget! We captured their amazing wedding love story at the Danville Bed and Breakfast, out in Geneva, Florida! Wedding photographers Steven and Chris began the day capturing their preparations, with Wendy Phillips of Posh Hair Salon providing the bridal hair stylist services and Garden Gate Florals creating the beautiful bouquets, boutineers, and wedding floral arrangements. Once the two were ready, we setup Jason outside for their intimate first look, where Leanne walked up behind him, held his hand, and had him turn around to see his beautiful wife-to-be for the first time on their wedding day! We then took the couple and their bridal party around Danville for their personal portraits, then prepared for their outdoor wedding ceremony underneath Danville’s elegant gazebo, officiated by Rev. Bob Myers! Their ceremony included the passing of roses to family members, readings from the best man and maid of honor, and tying of a three chord knot. After their I-Do’s and the kiss, we prepared for their very unique reception introduction!! What’s awesome about Danville Bed and Breakfast is that an entire side of the building raises up like an airplane hangar!! After family and bridal party introductions, the door raised up in front of their guests, revealing Leanne and Jason, and an amazing and sweet dance routine themed to swing music! We were glad to work beside Lexoria Videography, who captured these awesome moments on video as well! Teh wedding cake was created by Cakes by Kim & Karen, and catering was provided by Creations Catering. DJ Chuck Johnson of Classic Disc Jockeys really rocked the reception with some fun music and games, making for an amazing party atmosphere. We were able to sneak away Leanne and Jason for a few minutes to snap some beautiful night shots around the property, honestly the perfect venue to do these!! Special thanks go out to Dan, Larrie May, and the rest of the Danville family for their help and wedding coordination throughout the day. They were truly a joy and a pleasure to work with!

Urban Vintage NYC Wedding

My vintage loving heart is beating pretty hard right now. It is all due to this incredible New York City wedding and some of  loveliest details I have seen. This wedding is all about the details, and these details are nothing short of style, glamour, and elegance.  I have to talk about the bride’s shoes for a moment.  These shoes are what you call, bling bling. Oh my goodness, I can not stop staring at them.  They are amazing! This gorgeous couple look like movie stars on their wedding day, and I had a hard time choosing which photos to feature, so I think I shared most of them! Thanks to  Zorz Studios for capturing the true love and beauty of this couple and their wedding day. Your week is about to get it really good as we kick it off with this superb NYC vintage wedding.

From Zorz Studios...

Heather and Brian worked in insurance for the same big company but never actually ran into each other in the building, partly because Brian at the time worked as an outside Rep and didn’t come into the office frequently. They met each other out at a company sponsored event, after which point became inseparable.
The bride got ready at the beautiful Wythe Hotel with amazing floor-to-ceiling windows of the Manhattan skyline, and an interior staircase leading to a private terrace. Surrounded by the toile wallpaper, and beautiful exposed beams, she was in love with the space and felt completely calm and at ease getting ready with her beautiful bridesmaids.
For the ceremony, Heather wore a gorgeous lace mermaid gown which she found at The Bridal Garden, a not-for-profit bridal boutique in New York City in which all proceeds benefit education for disadvantaged children. “It was awesome to know my purchase went to such a terrific cause! I bought it off the rack and it fit me almost perfectly!” says the bride.
Brian gifted Heather a locket with a picture inside of her mom and her. Her mother had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s a few years ago and was physically not able to attend the wedding and this was extremely difficult for the bride.
We expected the heavy rain… Just as the skies opened and it started to pour, we arrived safe and dry inside Jane’s Carousel where I managed to capture the incredible moments and some of clients’ favorite pictures are of them outside in the rain!
The couple fell in love with The Green Building for its effortlessly beautiful interior and the vintage flair. The Green Building was previously a brass foundry and has beautiful original brick walls, exposed beam ceilings, gold chandeliers, and even a back speakeasy room equipped with vintage decor and red velvet curtains. Their vendors helped create a warm and intimate setting.
“The rabbi read our vows of why we wanted to marry each other, the touching vows Brian wrote brought me to tears and my favorite part during the ceremony was when Brian reached over to wipe my tears away,” says Heather. “I am Jewish and Brian Protestant, so we decided to fuse our backgrounds by incorporating an Irish ‘hand-fasting’ and a stomping of the glass, both beautiful traditions and incredibly sentimental.”
After the dinner, dancing, and cake we ended with a food truck by Wafels & Dinges which was a huge hit! Paying homage to the speakeasy theme, guests took home little bottles of whiskey.

South Carolina DIY Wedding

I’ve seen  some DIY weddings here at BHL, but I have never seen one as beautifully handcrafted as this one.  This bride did it all, I mean all! She designed and baked the wedding cake herself.  Seriously?   This pretty Southern affair is nothing short of lovely details, all personally put together by the bride and the family. The father of the bride made dinner for everyone! That is amazing.  This wedding is just so sweet with all the personal touches. Love it! So,  before you head out that door and start the long holiday weekend, make sure to spend some time browsing the gorgeous images from Southern Jewel Photography.

This amazing DIY wedding will leave you in awe and wanting to hire Breana and her family to plan your wedding! From the flowers and décor put together by the bride, the amazing low country boil cooked by family, to the cake the bride made HER SELF, no detail was overlooked and it was absolutely fabulous!Meeting through online resources is quickly gaining popularity. I’m meeting more and more couples who have met through an online dating service, including myself and Charlie! Josh and Breana met through Match.com when Josh (who was taking advantage of the free services) winked at Breana, who of course, winked back. Josh’s interest was so peaked, that he decided to pay for the subscription just to message Breana. Well, I’d say it paid off!!Being in the water is something that they both enjoy. In fact, they are on their honeymoon in Hawaii right now becoming scuba driving trained! So it was only natural that while on a Caribbean cruise last fall, while snorkeling off a private island in the Bahamas, Josh proposed… UNDER WATER! Seven and a half months later, Josh and Breana tied the knot in front of the beautiful pond at Camp Buckhorn at Paris Mountain State Park under an arbor hand made by her brother’s. Their attention to detail in this DIY wedding was amazing and turned out beautiful! Congrats to Breana and Josh!!

Gothic East Coast Wedding

We like our share of traditional weddings, but when a non-traditional one comes along, we are very intrigued.  This intimate wedding is far from tradition, but it is not far from love and happiness.  This couple shared their vows with a few guests and the New York City skyline as their backdrop.  Simple, beautiful, and personal to them. This is why we love weddings. When couples make their day about them and their love. We have to talk about the gorgeous red gown the bride wore on her wedding day.  Can you say WOW? This red and black corset dress is a total statement piece, and is absoultey stunning.  Again, making this very unique and personal to the bride and her day.  The groom is looking pretty dapper as well. His handsome attire compliments his bride’s look just perfectly.  This is why we love what we do; blogging about couples and their wedding day, big or small. We love all the wedding details, but most importantly we love to see how couples celebrate their love. So, before heading out the door for the weekend, make sure to browse the amazing images from VeroLuce Photography. This gothic style wedding is totally worth viewing. We have gone through the images more than once!

It doesn’t get any better than this. I get a phone call 9 days out asking if I was available to shoot a wedding? on the Weehawken waterfront from my friend and second shooter, Boris. He and his fiance, Kristina, are definitely not your average couple. Kristina was going to be? making her own gown and he assured me it wouldn’t be white.? Knowing Boris I knew it would be VERY untraditional. They didn’t disappoint. Red and black corset, tulle everywhere, her flaming orange hair, and the warmest day of the season so far standing in the warm sun at 1’oclock. But these two crazy kids turned heads for sure. A quick 15 minute ceremony sealed the deal. No fancy reception, no dinner, just some vows, portraits and a quick drink. It’s definitely different and over the top and nothing represents them better.

Duke University Chapel Wedding

Something  borrowed, something new, and  something blue. Yes, seems traditionally every bride will find details for each of these on their wedding day.   This gorgeous bride and her groom had something blue alright. They chose  Duke University Chapel for their wedding and showed off a bit of blue that day.  The stunning chapel seemed to be the perfect backdrop for this couple and their big day. I love myself a chapel wedding, and this one is beyond words can describe. Oh, and to add a bit of fun, the wedding party had some fun on Duke University basketball court. Enjoy the lovely images from Alexanders Studios and the beautiful details. What will be your something blue? Share with us in the comments below.

Catharine Robinson & Cory Broadnax Story: Married at Duke University Chapel, Durham, NC . Catharine and Cory met through mutual friends in September 2010 at Catharine’s 23rd birthday. They went on their first date at a trivia night, where they learned they share a competitive spirit and love to challenge each other. Before long, Cory was daring Catharine to join him for workouts at his gym, and Cory would meet Catharine for lunch outside her office. They quickly fell in love over their shared enthusiasm for travel, football (Cory had played at Duke in college), and cookie cakes. In the years that followed they wandered the globe together, sailing the Greek isles, eating escargots in Paris, laying on the beaches in Mexico, drinking hot wine in Prague, and hiking the Colca Canyon in Peru. New experiences on each successive trip brought them closer together, and inspired them to continuously search out the next destination to explore. In 2012, they founded a business in Washington, DC to help fund their traveling addiction, setting up big-screen outdoor movies for backyard parties and fundraisers. Most Friday and Saturday nights for the next two summers were spent visiting neighborhoods all over the city, projectors and screens in tow, eating a rushed dinner in the grass while watching old movies. It was fitting, then, that Cory proposed to Catharine in front of their glowing movie screen, under the stars, on a September night in 2013.They decided to get married at the Beautiful Duke Chapel.  The reception married historic Durham (an old tobacco warehouse in Brightleaf Square) and the global atmosphere that embodied Cory and Catharine’s relationship (Chamas, a Brazilian Steakhouse). Every aspect of their wedding was executed with classic style and a timeless beauty. The meticulous attention to detail made for a stress free and fun-filled day for all. They continue to reside in a row house in Washington, DC with their rescue dog, Nino.

From Southern Jewel Photography

Acquiring his doctorate at the University of South Carolina brought Bobby to South Carolina from his hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana. Bobby and Leah met on St. Patrick’s Day 2012 in downtown Greenville, SC. They enjoy vacationing in the low country andhave an affinity for the coast. Therefore, Charleston seemed like the perfect location for their nuptials. While Bobby is originally from Indianapolis, IN, both bride and groom had a large portion of the family and friends coming from out of town including: Indianapis, IN, Tuscan, AZ and Cleveland, OH. They wanted a “destination wedding” feel and chose Memorial Day weekend so guests could enjoy the many riches and culture that Charleston and the Low Country has to offer. For many, this was their first trip to South Carolina! The day began with the boys relaxing at Old South Barber Spa with an old-fashioned blade shave and hot towel facial. The ladies enjoyed mimosa’s in their bridal suite at The Residence Inn Riverview while having their hair styled and makeup applied. The ceremony began at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, followed by pictures down the road on the fisherman dock at James Island County Park. The reception followed at 6 pm starting with cocktails and southern passed hors d’oeuvres (petite crab cakes with remoulade sauce, pimento cheese fried green tomato wedges, and fried chicken & waffle sliders), followed by a buffet style dinner. After their introduction, the bride and groom danced to Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” and danced the night away to music provided by the DJ, Mr. Bobby Clair of The Carolina Girl Yacht. The end of the night finished with a bubble exit as the bride and groom left for their stay at the Francis Marion Hotel on King Street. They took an immediate, small honeymoon to Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC followed by a weeklong honeymoon in La Jolla, Los Angeles, Laguna Beach, and Santa Barbara, CA in late October. Bobby, an alumni of Indiana University and the University of South Carolina, is a home health physical therapist with Gentiva in Union, SC and has a passion for golf (see the golf tee boutonnieres). Leah, who has live in South Carolina since the age of 3, is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and is a microbiology technician at Bausch + Lomb in Greenville, SC. She enjoys baking, crafting, photography, and anything nautical (hence their nautical themed wedding). Together, they both share a love for southern cuisine and craft beer. With help from Terrapin Brewery, they featured a crafted “wedding ale” made specifically for our special event as a wedding favor to their guests! Bobby and Leah currently reside in Simpsonville, South Carolina with their cat, Nougat.

From Pop the Champagne

When I first met Jenn, she said, I want my colors to be pink and sparkle! I knew this couple would be a blast to work with and their wedding would be full of fun and personality.
The pops of hot pink added some fun but stayed classy against a mostly black, white and silver color scheme. The centerpiece of the décor was definitely the gorgeous flowers! Commerce Flowers put together really glamorous pieces with lots of bling. The ceremony site at Terranea is pretty as it is, but Commerce decked out the space and took it to the next level. Jenn and Matt love New Orleans so we incorporated some fun details to reflect the city. Their signature drink was “His and Her-Ricanes” and they had a traditional New Orleans style brass band for cocktail hour.

From the bride…
The wedding of Jennifer Roth and Matthew Lifson, May 31, 2014 Terranea Resort, Racho Palos Verdes CA We decided to get married in Los Angeles where we live, but really wanted the weekend to feel like a vacation somewhere far away. Our families are from Dallas and Minneapolis, but we wanted all guests, even those from LA to have a true getaway where everyone could celebrate and relax together. Terranea was absolutely perfect – it is 45 minutes from our home but feels like a million miles away. Our ceremony was on a cliff’s edge overlooking the Pacific and I was praying to weather gods that the famous June gloom wouldn’t set in and thankfully we had a perfect blue sky throughout! Matt and I also LOVE New Orleans, so we hired a New Orleans Jazz band for our cocktail hour and made special, New Orleans-themed specialty cocktails including the “His and Herricane” and “The Frenchman” The colors for the day were White, Hot Pink and a little glitter thrown in for good measure. The bride wore a stunning Maggie Sottero dress and spectacular Swarovski Crystal Giuseppe Zanotti shoes. We opted to have a black tie wedding at this gorgeous venue, but wanted the event to be anything but stuffy! We love to have fun and wanted to make sure that everyone enjoyed a great party, with great music (90’s hip hop and R&B a must) and drinks aplenty! Everything about the reception was just amazing- our DJ was fantastic, the food was incredible and Matt’s brother gave a toast – or rather a roast- that just brought the house down! We even ended the night with tons of Krispie Kremes for the guests – the perfect ending to the perfect day.

Litchfield Plantation Wedding

Excuse us while we swoon over this gorgeous plantation wedding.  We are in love with this intimate wedding of only 10 guests,  the fabulous couple who’s style is beyond amazing, and all the pretty wedding details. We do not even know where to start with this wedding introduction. Each and every image has us glued to our computer screens. Is it possible to love ALL the wedding details? Its way to hard to choose one detail to talk about.  But we have to talk about at least SOME of the details. The lovely flower crown is absolutely stunning, the ceremony site is super romantic, and that dessert table is beyond amazing. Can we please taste each of those desserts? We have to talk about this couple, who look like super models by the way. Right? We love their wedding look from head to toe.  The dress, the suit,  and the shoes, are all perfect. Pasha Belman Photography did a fantastic job in capturing the lovely moments of this couple and their wedding.  We can totally write a novel about this wedding, but without boring you too much with the words, we think its best to browse the images for yourself and see why we are so obsessed.

From the Gigi Noelle Events…

I first met with this sweet couple when they came to visit Litchfield Plantation, which is in Pawley’s Island, SC, when they were looking for a wedding venue. I instantly knew I would love working with them when Robertas informed me that his bride to be spoke little English, but that he would be able to share her vision of her dream wedding.Only 10 guests were to be in attendance and all were from other countries. During our first meeting with the couple we chatted about which vendors would be a perfect fit! We are very fortunate to have a Russian photographer in Myrtle Beach and we knew Pasha Belman and his wife would not only be able to communicate and understand their vision but could create beautiful and amazing pictures. Our second thought was to find a Russian priest to conduct the ceremony. Unfortunately, this was not to be, although we did find a minister, who with a few short lessons online, was able to speak a part of the ceremony in their native language. This was a special surprise for their parents, who spoke very little English but were able to understand when their children said “I do”!It was very important for Polinas to have her bridal bouquet match a silk bouquet her Mother had made. Little did we know that when we created a bouquet filled with fragrant peonies and beautiful roses that it would perfectly match the Ukrainian headpiece her mother brought along with her custom design wedding gown from Russia.

Designing for the couple was easy. They loved The Plantation because of the 240 year history, the dreamy landscape and the quietness of the rice fields. Polinas asked for something romantic, soft, vintage and very pretty. We knew instantly that we would need to include lots of beautiful flowers, a gorgeous tablescape and lots of candles. With such a breathtaking venue, we knew that we could only enhance it.A tent frame was erected and then draped with sheer white fabric. Polinas love of candlelight and caf? lighting added to the ambiance. A round table with 10 chevre chairs was placed under a crystal chandelier. We added beautiful flowers in soft shades of pink and cream, pink and gold candleholders, birdcages and designer china and crystal. Menu cards were tucked into the linen napkins. On the front side the menu was listed in English and on the back side in Russian.A dessert table was designed with both a traditional wedding cake and a traditional Ukrainian cake specially ordered for the occasion. Although the table featured a silver tea service, the couple provided a silver Russian samovar (tea urn). The family also provided a variety of Russian candies and cookies featuring Oreshki, a cookie baked in a walnut mold, filled with Dulce de leche and traditional wedding spice cookies. Many shouts of “Gorko, Gorko” were heard throughout the night signaling that the bride and groom must kiss! The couple ended the night by dancing to “Unforgettable”, by Nat King Cole under a crystal chandelier hung in a 300 year old oak tree overlooking the rice marsh. Robertas translated for Polinas the feelings she was unable to verbalize in English. She said that the night had been magical and dreamlike with everything she imagined making the memories of the night “Unforgettable”!

Citrus State Park Wedding

A wedding after my Orange County hometown heart. Growing up in Orange County, California, there were so many orange trees all over the town, that you can smell the lovely scent of citrus. I loved that smell as it always put a huge smile on my face. When I received this gorgeous wedding from Jaime Davis Photography,  I knew it was going to be amazing. First of all because she is one of my favorite photographers, and secondly because of the beautiful location. Orange trees all around, just like my childhood, and I could not stop smiling after each and every image. The memories came back, and my heart is happy.  Enjoy the pretty details from this Citrus State Park wedding. You may need to grab a cup of coffee because I think you will want to  browse through the images a  few times. I am on my third cup. Yeah its THAT good.

From Jaime Davis Photography

Chelsea and Justin’s wedding day was located at Citrus State Park in Riverside, California. I was over the moon when I found out the location because I have always wanted to shoot a wedding at an orange grove. This wedding’s location was amazing, but what was even more amazing was the sweet and romantic moments these two shared. Chelsea and Justin exchanged Justin’s grandparent’s wedding bands, and I almost lost it. I teared up at this moment because I love all things that has to do with family history. It was so special and very personable. What an honor to capture such a intimate moment.  The rest of the day was a blast while taking photos of the gorgeous couple, family, and friends, and other fun and sweet moments.

I was honored to be apart of Chelsea and Justin’s big day! Congrats XOXO
