If you are a SYTTD newbie and want to know what this show is all about, don’t worry, I got you covered! Read on and see why I love this show so much. Oh, and of course tune in tonight and watch!

The show all takes place at the gorgeous bridal salon, Kleinfeld Bridal in NYC. The show  goes behind-the-scenes  and uncovers the various obstacles every staff member faces to make each bride utterly happy and pleased on what may be the  most important day of her life. The show features not only bridal experts, but emotional brides, opinionated entourages, and dream bridal dresses. TLC’s Four Weddings Sneak Peek: August 29th

Guess what? One of my favorite  wedding shows is back with another amazing episode! Yep, TLC’s “Four Weddings” is on tonight, and we’ve got the sneak peek for you.  Are you ready? I know I am. I been watching the re-runs, and getting all excited for tonight’s episode. I love this show.  If you have never seen the show, let me tell you a little about it.  This show features four completely different brides who have never met, and attend each other’s weddings with one wedding being deemed “the winner” at the end. The brides rate the food, dress, venue, originality, and overall experience of each wedding, except for their own. At the end, all the scores of each bride are tallied, and the one with the highest score wins an all expenses paid honeymoon. Sounds like a fun-filled show right? If you love weddings as much as I do, then I think this show is for you.

TLC

On tonight’s episode the four brides are :  A bride who’s wedding comes with boardwalk entertainers, a bride who brings the Phantom of the Opera to her wedding, a bride who has a heaven theme wedding, and a bride who washes her fiancés feet as a marriage commitment.  Each of these brides share their unique style and taste on their wedding day. Which bride will be your favorite? Which bride’s detail’s will you like the best? Which dress will stand out the most? What ceremony will be the most touching? Which bride do you think will win? What do I think? Which wedding will wow the other brides?  All I can tell you know is that you do not want to miss this episode! Tune in tonight and find out what happens.

From Carmen of Expressionary Events
Our inspiration for this shoot came from the gorgeous southern californian beaches. We wanted to create a beach feel for the Hilton, Costa Mesa.  So, for the bride that wants to bring elements of beach that can’t necessary afford the beach venue, the beach elements can be incorporated and brought into the hotel. Seashells were added in the vases of the centerpieces, and the bride’s jewelry has stars and seashells. We wanted to use the word LOVE in a creative way. It is used with the bride’s earrings, on the aisle runner, and even on the plates of the cake. A fun summer leading into fall wedding idea with inspiration colors that could be used for either season.  Lush, romantic flowers, celebrating love.

From the bride-to-be…

We chose to do a mountain scene and a beach scene because we feel like it was a good way to show what makes Los Angeles such a great place. We have the ability to see mountains and beach all in a matter of a day. We brought some of our personality into the pictures through the outfits. Justin loves to wear cat shirts and I just recently purchased my first cat shirt to go along with his obsession. I knew when I bought my shirt that we would have to wear them in our photos. We also love football. I am a from Minnesota and absolutely love the Vikings. He is a die-hard Notre Dame fan so we wore our respective team jerseys. Luckily one team is college and the other is NFL so we can root for each others teams. :) We really had a great time with our photographer.

Los Angeles Engagement Session from Silver Gecko Photography

I love Sundays. I especially love Sundays with football on the agenda. I am a huge fan of sports, but even a bigger fan of football. I was so excited when football season started. Well, it is preseason, but still…pretty excited. Oh, my love for weddings? It is always on top, of course. I love weddings.  So you can only imagine my excitement when my two loves, sports and weddings, came together for a an amazing e-session. This sweet combo makes me want to jump up and down. Yes I am actually jumping right now. Not only jumping for my football team, but for this fabulous e-sesh, which is totally awesome.   Add Silver Gecko Photography and a well seasoned camera to that mix, and it is over. Over in a pretty haze of beautiful images. Are you ready to see what happens when sports meets an engagement photography session?

From Silver Gecko Photography

Shaun and Jennifer are getting married on November 3, 2013.  They  are both huge sports fans, and thankfully for the most part they are fans of the same teams, so there is no in-house rivalry. Shaun has always been a huge hockey fan and Jennifer loves basketball and football. Mix in bowling, something they love doing together, and what they did for their first date, and add baseball for good measure, and you’ve got one heck of a sports themed engagement session.

Shaun was able to secure times for us to photograph at Matador Bowl in Northridge and Ice Station Valencia. We covered basketball, baseball, and football with a stop off at Northridge Park. Photographing the two of them bowling was trickier than first imagined. I don’t like separating couples, it’s an engagement session after all, but with bowling you don’t really want to stand near the person hurling a heavy ball around; so we got creative. I was even able to photograph their wedding date in bowling ball weights (the 3 pound doesn’t exist, but removing the 1 from 13 was easy enough). I’ve done this once before with billiard balls.

 Congratulations Shaun & Jennifer!

Top Seven Tips on Getting Wedding Ready

On this lovely Saturday morning, we  are thinking about all those brides who are getting ready for their big day. Some of them are in the process right now: getting their hair and make-up done, sharing some laughs with their gals, and maybe looking over her vows. It is a wonderful time in a bride’s life. That is for sure! Getting wedding ready is not just for the day of, there are some things a bride can do to get prepped. Here are seven beauty tips on getting wedding ready:

  1. If you notice that your nail polish is becoming thick in the bottle or sticky, just add some acetone, or nail polish remover, into the bottle. After only adding a tiny bit, seal up the top and shake thoroughly. By doing this, you will have enough nail polish for a few more applications.
  2. Air dry your hair often so it doesn’t suffer from heat damage. You hair can be seriously damaged by too much heat from your hair dryer, a curling iron or straightening iron. Put your hairdryer on the lowest setting to avoid damage to your hair. By doing this, your hair will stay soft for years to come.
  3. If you blow dry your hair you should use a “hot spray” before you start. You can find this in generic stores like Wal-Mart or Target. It’s used to prevent split ends and help your hair dry quicker. It also keeps your hair from drying out, and is often scented!
  4. Make your skin look more vibrant by using a moisturizer with a warm gold or pink undertone. This glowing tone can be achieved with a subtle application that emphasizes the cheeks and brow. Do not apply it anywhere else on your face. Using too much will give you a fake, shiny appearance.
  5. You have to consume eight glasses of water every day for your skin to look great. When you skin is dehydrated, the stress will make it look wrinkled, dry and dull. Reduce the chances of this happening by drinking a minimum of eight glasses of water per day. Use lemon or cranberry juice to flavor your water if you dislike plain water. Your skin is going to be grateful you drank lots of water.
  6. Be sure to exercise moderately every day. Daily exercise will help your body to stay looking young, fit, and healthy. It is definitely essential for personal beauty. You should be up and active for at least fifteen minutes a day. You can work physical activity into daily routines like walking or even vacuuming.
  7. To fix a damaged fingernail, get a teabag and cut a small piece from it. Empty all of the leaves from the bag. Then, cut a small patch from the teabag making sure your patch will cover the tear. Then you should put the piece of teabag on the torn nail and put some clear top coat on it.

Which tip was the most helpful for you? Please share with us, as we love to hear from you!

Sneak Peek of TLC’s “Say Yes to the Dress” Season 10 Episode 2

I can not believe it is Friday already. A fabulous week has come and gone. But the weekend is here! Always happy for that. But, before  you head out the door to start your amazing weekend, it is time for another fabulous episode of   SAY YES TO THE DRESS.  Yep, that is right. It is one of my favorite wedding shows, and I have been a fan from day one. I get excited each week when I know I can sit down, grab my favorite snack, and watch a show about dress shopping! If you have not watched the show and kind of curious about what it is all about. Do not worry, let me tell you a bit more about what kind of dress shopping this is. You may be hooked like I am!

At the end of each appointment, the bridal consultant will ask one very important question, “Are you saying Yes to the Dress?”. The answer to this question? You will have to tune in each week to find out.

On tonight’s  episode:

On tonight’s episode, bride-to-be,  Emily wants to look ultra-sexy on her big day despite her mom’s traditional requests. Then there is bride,  Aja who is searching for a dress that shows off her curves, but struggles to impress her opinionated entourage. Bride, Courtney hopes her new chest will fill out her dress.

“Say Yes To The Dress” is on  tonight at 9/8c. So set your DVR’s, or watch it live tonight!

Eight Maid of Honor Must Haves

Being maid of honor is no easy task. You’re going to be juggling tons of tasks, keeping track of the whole event, and doing it all in heels. After all, the blushing bride needs her right hand lady to keep her glowing! The wedding day is going to be a busy one, so it pays to be prepared. Keeping a survival stash in your bridal bag could save your skin, and maybe even a wedding photo or two.

Mints

These seriously have the potential to save the day. The bride is about to have the most public, photographed, and remembered kiss of her life, so her breath situation is high priority. Altoids come in little tins, so they won’t explode in your purse. Mentos are incredibly refreshing and give the chewy-ness of gum without the unattractive smacking noises.

Lighters

Lighters are a tool, not just something you’ll need if the bride needs to sneak a cigarette. If you catch any frayed strings or anything, a quick pass over with a lighter can typically fix that. Candles go out? No worries, the maid of honor is here to save the day. If the groom and groomsmen are doing cigars to celebrate, you become their go-to girl. You get bonus points for getting one that works with your outfit, or even painting one to match your outfit.

Makeup Removing Q-Tips

Even if you’re not maid of honor, these lil guys are a lifesaver. You crack them at one end, and it releases makeup remover to the tips. These are perfect for touch ups, smudges, smears, and anything else you can think of. They are a little hard to find, but I love the Almay oil-free makeup eraser sticks ($5-$6 for a box of 24, drugstores). A wedding is a beautiful and emotional day, so the maid of honor needs to be prepared for any potential makeup smearing.

Rollerball Perfume

It’s a good idea to have a rollerball in your purse ready to dab on wrists just in case. If your bride has a hair stylist worrying about hair and a makeup artist worrying about makeup, perfume can go overlooked. Stash her favorite scent in your purse just in case. I love Daisy by Marc Jacobs ($22, Sephora & department stores) because it’s light, fresh, and romantic.

Blister Block

Yes, it works. Rub this miracle stick ($4-$5, drugstores and pharmacies) on your heels and dance the night away without worrying about blisters. If the bride isn’t usually in heels, this will save her life. Keep it on hand even if the bride is a stiletto queen- one of your fellow bridesmaids may need a little heel help.

Floss

Not to sound like your dentist (or your mother!) but flossing is important. No one wants to look back on wedding photos and be haunted by food in your teeth. Toothpicks may crack and break in your purse, and you can find minty floss that will leave your mouth feeling extra clean. Plus, it looks a little more chic in your purse than tons of toothpicks.

Midol

Come on ladies, you know why you need to keep a few of these stashed. I like the ones that come in the tabs, not the bottle. Keeping a few tabs in your purse, or even your wallet is much more discreet than toting around a rattly bottle. You never know when cramps or a headache may strike, so it’s great to have a few handy.

For Outdoor Weddings: Nasal Spray

Blushing beauties, you get one bonus tip for all my maids of honor sweating it out under the sun. If you’re heading to a wedding outside, in a field, or generally around pollen, it can be for the better to bring nasal spray. You may look a little dorky for a second, but it’s better than constantly blowing your nose or struggling with your allergies.

About Fiona + Bobby Photographybridal-hot-list-vendor-hot-pick-150

You could say that Fiona + Bobby started back when we initially met on 23 March 2011.  We met through a love of photography, which has progressed and grown since then.  Starting up a business together after we got married seemed the only natural thing!  Bobby already had his own wedding photography business back in LA and back then I had kept photography only as a hobby, despite the call from many friends and family to embark on a more professional journey.

The way Bobby and I came together was exciting and wonderful.  We took risks and jumped on the back of a leap of faith to where we are today.  From going through this experience together, we have established that love is the driving force in all of our lives and if we allow this emotion to permeate through our skin and into the air around us, the lives we lead can be incredibly potent and powerful.  As a result, photographing in the presence of love is a beautiful and humbling experience.  We love what we do and we adore seeing couples reveal their inner most guarded connections between one another.
We would even go as far as saying that there is a part of us which falls in love with our couples every single time we shoot a wedding.  We have questioned why we feel this way and the only explanation we can come up with is that we feel like they have allowed and trusted us into their circle of love and we too embrace ourselves within that emotion, which somehow never goes away.

We approach our weddings from a purely documentary point of view.  The wedding is not about us as photographers, but about you as a couple coming together and celebrating your love.  Bobby and I view the world as it unravels around us slightly differently to one another through our lens, which is what makes the way we shoot so unique.  When we roll our images together into one, we wholeheartedly believe that the couple receives a true vision of how their day was, no stone unturned.

At the end of the day, we believe it is more than he and she meeting, it’s the magic that happens in those silences that make mountains out of your love.  We want to capture moments like these and create pockets of whimsy in your hearts which will be preserved forever.”
