BHL Vendor Hot Pick: Found Vintage Rentals

bridal-hot-list-vendor-hot-pickI know sometimes when Monday’s roll around, it is really hard to get going and start the week off. I mean, you have to say goodbye to the weekend, and hello to a work week. But when you have a fabulous new vendor added to our “Vendor Hot Picks”, Monday just became my favorite day of the week. I am talking about a vendor who seriously knows how to impress. One that has me swooning over all the amazing details they have to offer. All courtesy of Found Vintage Rentals. I had the pleasure of visiting the fantastic warehouse where all the magical genius happens. I was so enraptured by all the charming and inspiring details, I could not turn my eyes away.  I did not want to miss one single item. But I know I did…there was THAT many fabulous things that had my vintage loving heart swooning the whole time. I have to admit…I kind of wanted to sneak and hide behind one of the lovely couches and live there. If I could. Yep, that is how much I am in love with Found Vintage Rentals.

I have always been a huge fan of vintage, but after today, I will forever be a fan of Found Vintage Rentals.  Oh, you will see why in a second when you browse through all the gorgeousness.

Top Ten First Dance Songs

Good morning Sunday lovelies! Enjoying the weekend? Sad to see it end? We are too. But, do not worry, we have something to brighten your day and end the weekend with a bang! You know we are always trying to find the hottest trends in all things wedding right? Including what is hot and trending in music at weddings. Yep, we love to find out what couples are requesting  for their song list for their big day.  However, your first dance is a really special moment and choosing the perfect song is really important. It is the first dance as husband and wife. So, we wanted to find out what the top ten “First Dance” songs are that couples are requesting.

So, we asked Mike  S. Yanez, Owner of SELECT SOUND SERVICES, to share what the top ten “First Dance” songs are.

SELECT SOUND SERVICES caters to each and every one of our clients. Whether its a fundraiser, special event, or production, we create the sound that YOU specify. Especially when it comes to weddings. If you’ve been to as many weddings as I have, you start to hear some of the same songs. For good reason, these songs are great and they are classics. However, our clients have given us some gems that we found to be just as great as the classics, but maybe over looked. We thought it might be fun to compile a Top 10 List of First Dance songs that our past clients have chosen for their wedding.

1.  “Thank You” by Led Zeppelin
A classic rock song that sums it all up. I mean its written poetry over acoustic guitar, Robert Plant singing, dramatic runs throughout the ballad, it even has organs. You can’t get more wedding song than organs!

2.  “Ribbon in the Sky” by Stevie Wonder
You had me at Stevie, right?! A bit more traditional, touch of soul, but totally powerful and can bring a tear to everyone in the room.

3.  “So High” by John Legend
A contemporary R&B song that totally describes a new love, flying high, into their own world. “And when morning comes, we’ll see the sun is not so far, and we can’t get much closer to GOD than where we are.” Nice!

4.  “These Arms of Mine” by Otis Redding
There isn’t much that is more romantic than a man, confessing just how sick in love he is, at the top of his lungs. A classic soul record, that all ages usually get into.

5. “Adorn” by  Miguel
A contemporary R&B song, a bit up tempo, laced with a nice baseline and Prince-like high notes that make the hair on your neck stand up, in a good way.

6.  “How Sweet It Is (to be loved by you)” by James Taylor
A fun, up tempo blues track from Sweet Baby James himself. It was hard to keep everyone from joining the couple for their First Dance.

7.  “You Are So Beautiful” by Joe Cocker
Great Blues kind of song! The dramatic piano, his signature voice, the passion is so present in this song. Makes everyone emotional when pumped through a set of good speakers.

8.  “Let’s Fall in Love” by Rod Stewart ft. George Benson
A beautiful jazz record that brightens up the room. Dramatic strings, George Benson on the guitar, and Rod Stewart sounding very lounge without the cheese.

9. ” Some Enchanted Evening” by Frank Sinatra
A classic musical number from Old Blue Eyes. A story of meeting that one person, and “Never letting gooooooooo” Frank brings it home with the horns, strings, and the kitchen sink. A more traditional sound, with some power ballad mixed in.

10. “There You’ll Be” by Faith Hill &  ” My Best Friend” by Tim Mc Graw
So we totally cheated on this one. 2 country classics by the most loved couple in country music. Technically, you could say the two are one. The titles say it all.

We hope you enjoyed the Top 10 List of First Dance songs chosen by past SELECT SOUND SERVICES clients. We are here to serve, and would love the opportunity to work with you on your next event. Visit us at www.SELECTSOUNDSERVICES.com

Lucca, Italy:Your Honeymoon Destination

When it comes to preparing for your wedding, there is nothing more exciting than choosing the place where you will spend your first moments together as husband and wife.  If you are anything like me, you will probably make a long list of exotic locations which will make your choice even more difficult. Allow me to make it easier for you. Let me do the picking. I choose ITALY! Why you ask? Well, let me tell you why a honeymoon under the beautiful Tuscan sky will make the beginning of your life together even more memorable. Italy is synonym with romance. This is the country of Romeo and Juliette. This is the country of eternal love. Everything in Italy screams “romance.” As you walk through the old towns, you will live and breathe history together and you will partake in some of the most beautiful sightseeing that you have ever seen.  Every day you will feel like you are in a dream, and what better way to live a dream but next to the love of your life. Italy’s food is an aphrodisiac. Your palate will indulge in flavors that you have never experienced before. From the beautifully hand-crafted pastries, to the hand-tossed pizza, you will share the culinary beauties of Italy while looking into each other’s eyes. Guiltless. Free to indulge.  Can you already picture yourself, holding hands, and staring into each other’s eyes? Do you need more convincing? If yes, let me also show you a possible location and accommodation. If you have never been to Italy and would like to have a more romantic-quite vacation I would like to suggest to you to go and stay in Lucca. Awww, Lucca! Only thinking about it gives me googley eyes.

Lucca is a Roman city surrounded by 10 feet tall walls on which you can walk, stroll, run, bike. It is surrounded by Tuscan hills on one side and by the Tirreno Sea on the other side. It is the city of Puccini (for all you Opera fans!). It is close to Florence, but not as hectic, and it is perfect for a romantic, quiet and intimate honeymoon. You can take day trips to different destinations such as Pisa (only 15 minutes away), Siena, Florence and the Chianti. Depending on the season of your travels, you can explore vineyards, taste different Chianti specialties and indulge in the great flavors of Tuscany. And, if you are more adventurous, you could hike the mountains and trails, and explore the small villages on the hills. I am telling you, it is a perfect destination for your honeymoon. You have my word.   Lucca has everything for everyone. And how about staying at your own apartment-villa? Here is your accommodation.

The owners of the Villa have different luxury packages available, and everything can be customized to your personal liking. From private dinners, to wine tasting, to shopping at luxury brands stores, your vacation will not skip a beat. For more information please contact Bridal Hot List.

Whatever your dream honeymoon may be, there is nothing better than Italy to begin a new journey with the love of your life.

Friday is here which means it is BrideDay on TLC, and also  time for a new episode of TLC’s, “I Found the Gown”. This show is amazing and full of surprises. If you have not ever seen the show, well let me tell you all about it, and hopefully you will get hooked just like I did. This show features a lovely married couple, Rick and Leslie DeAngelo who own VOWS, a discount bridal boutique in Boston, Massachusetts.  They provide brides high-end designer gowns with very affordable price tags. Selling these deeply discounted bridal gowns for 50-80% off retail is no easy task. Rick and Leslie search high and low in factory attics, boutique back rooms, and department store warehouses across the world to score these sought-after looks for less. Each episode will follow their journey to find these amazing treasures, and then back at the shop to share them with three brides and the VOWS consultants.

IFTG_ProdStills_EP210_010

On tonight’s first episode:

  • The first bride is Jametria who loves fashion and designer clothing, so she is hoping to find a designer gown for the right price. Her entourage will also help in the search for that perfect dress. Will she walk away with the gown of her dreams? Will it meet her fashion loving heart?
  • The second bride  Carol, is celebrating her 50th wedding anniversary with her husband, and wants to find that perfect gown fitted for such a momentous occasion. Carol is savyvy and loves to hunt for the best deal she can find. What gown will she choose to “WOW” her husband?
  • The third bride is Kate has arrived from New York, and describes the gown she is looking for as one with lace, elegant and classic. What dress will Kate find? Will it be the gown with all the details she was exactly looking for

On the Second episode:

  • The first bride is Danielle who is looking for not just one, but two fabulous dresses for her big day. She wants a gown for her ceremony and reception. She loves a fitted gown with some flare.  Will she wear the  Vera Wang gown that Khloe Kardashian wore? or will it be something unique to her? Will she find two gowns she falls in in love with?
  • The second bride is Salma who is hoping to find the perfect gown which is lace with beading details. Salma and her groom are paying for the wedding themselves, so she hopes to find a really good deal.
  • The third bride is Megan who is love with lace and wants that fit to flare look. She hopes that her entourage can help her decide between a simple dress or a more flashier gown.

Z Gallerie Inspired Photo Shoot

This particular photo shoot includes a number of things I adore: a love story, a darling couple, stylish home decor, and inspiration.  It is the kind of shoot that has me drooling over all the fabulous details. I have to admit that I am in love with Z Gallerie. It is the reason why I am so head over heels with this fantastic shoot.  I am kind of obsessed with Z Gallerie and all its amazing decor items. My personal home design inspiration comes from Z Gallerie. Actually, most of the decor that I adore the most in my home are items from Z Gallerie. Yep, in love with the modern, stylish, and chic details Z Gallerie offers. It is luxurious and oh so affordable. That is the best part! I can go on and on about Z Gallerie but I really want to get to this fabulous photo shoot. I am not the only one who has a passion for Z Gallerie. The lovely gals at  Classic Touch Events are also obsessed with Z Gallerie and have put together a gorgeous and inspiring shoot. I think I can look at these photos all day. All day.

A little bit about the photo shoot from   Classic Touch Events

Well needless to say the ladies of Classic Touch Events are in love with Z Gallerie and all of their fantastic merchandise they have to offer to newlyweds for their new homes! We will be doing a series of stylized shoots using some of our favorite Z Gallerie items. To kick things off we are introducing our sweet couple that are in the beginning stages of their relationship.

Jordyn and Jonathan, falling in love…..

She met in him college, right before COMM 301, in-between classes at the campus coffee house. He opened the door for her as she rushed in to grab a cup of coffee prior to class. She glanced up and their eyes met. He was tall, handsome and something about him took her breath away.  He smiled and said hello to her in the line for coffee and that is where it all began. She was immediately drawn to him in a way she had never felt. It was as if they were connected from lifetimes before and here in this coffee house they finally crossed paths.

They began dating and have become inseparable. Jonathan knew he was falling in love.  After a few weeks of spending most of their time together he asked her on a special date.  It was her birthday so he took her on a picnic to one of his favorite spots under an oak tree. Later he planned an intimate dessert at his home to celebrate her special day.  Although their relationship is new, Jonathan knows there is something about Jordyn that makes him want to spend the rest of his life with her.

Stay tuned for more from this adorable couple.

Wedding Processional Tips

At BHL, we love everything wedding, and kind of obsessed with all the fabulous details that comes with them. Including all the details of how to enter or exit the wedding ceremony. In other words, the processional and recessional. Your planning your wedding, and the the most important moment of your wedding day is the ceremony. This is the space and time where you become Mr. and Mrs. Well, the part of the special day where it is pretty official. You are married! So how does your ceremony look like? What does your processional order look like? Who goes down the aisle first? If you are curious about any of these answers, then we may be able to help you out a little.  For a very traditional wedding, we  found this infographic from Martha Stewart Weddings. It gives you the order of the processional. So if you are going traditional for your wedding, then you can follow this.

b974f9c9ba85b3a7521b548db6aa26bd

However, if you are non-traditional, then you can adjust as you please.  We have some ideas and tips on the processional order. Please see below:

  • Just the Two of  Us:  Perhaps you want to have a simple ceremony  at your wedding, and just the two of you are in the processional. Yes, you do not HAVE to have one  huge processional with other family or friends. It is YOUR wedding, so do what you like! So with no real processional, the groom can be standing up at the ceremony alter/spot and then the bride can walk in with or without her father/mother or anyone else special to her. This can be a very simple processional.  One where it is just about the bride and her groom waiting on the other side for her. Another variation is that the groom walks in, and then the bride follows. Perhaps the groom also wants the the chance to walk in too! Another idea is that the bride and groom  walk in together into the ceremony as one beautiful and loving couple. The spotlight is all on the bride and groom.  Why not? It is their day!
  • Family counts: Sometimes couples want to share the spotlight with the ones they love and care about. So if you want your mother/father/grandmother/grandfather/or other family member to be part of the walk down the aisle, then do it! They can all have a part. Here is an idea for a possible order:  Groom with mother–Groom’s father with groom’s grandmother–Bride’s mother with brides’s grandfather—Bride’s grandmother with Bride’s brother/cousin–Bride with her father. Now, if there are no living grandparents, you can do the following: Groom walks in with both of his parents—and Bride walks in with both of her parents. Whatever way you like to include your parents or grandparents, it is up to you.

bride with father processional

  • Minus the Bridal Party: If you can’t decide how many bridesmaids and groomsmen to have, that there are too many close people in your life, and you really do want to have a twenty person bridal party, then maybe you will just not have any. However, there are some brides who really want to have everyone in their bridal party, and don’t mind such a large bridal party. However, if this seems like too much, then an idea is that you have one Best  man, and one Maid/Matron of honor, and that is it. Here is an idea for a processional order: Groom solo–Best Man and Maid/Matron of honor–Bride with Father/Grandfather/solo.
  • Siblings: No bridal party, so your sisters/brothers can not be part of the wedding?  Not true! Here is an idea that works great for siblings in the processional. Groom with his sister–the Best man and Maid/Matron of honor–Bride’s sisters and brothers–Bride with her father. This is just one of many ways you can include the siblings as part of the processional order.

148_7122623209_912_n

These are just some ideas, and we are sure there are many other non-traditional processional orders out there. So if you like to share, please do so. We love to hear from you!

Expressionary Events Features Bridal Hot List in a Video Interview

I have some exciting news that I can not wait to share with all of you on this lovely Monday morning. It is so fabulous, that you better sit down for this one. So grab your morning coffee, get comfy, and ready for some pretty amazing information.  Bridal Hot List had their first interview! I had the pleasure to be interviewed by the very talented Wedding Planner and Designer, Carmen Fuentes of Expressionary Events for Expression Spotlight. What an exciting moment for BHL. As chief editor of Bridal Hot List, I shared who we are, what we do, and what type of wedding details we feature on the blog.  I shared how we are not your typical wedding blog, and that we are THE resource for today’s bride, providing the hottest trends and tips. What got my heart bursting with joy was talking about the two (now three) TLC television shows we cover: TLC’s “Four Weddings” and “Something Borrowed, Something New” (added to the list is “I Found the Gown”). What was really great is when I shared some of the pretty exciting moments I have had at BHL. For example,  I had the wonderful opporunity in meeting top stylist, Sam Saboura, and fashion designer Kelly Nishimoto from ” Something Borrowed, Something New”. THAT was amazing because they provided me with some incredible wedding tips and trends. An interesting fact that I spoke of was that not all our readers are brides…we actually have grooms who are really intrigued by the tips and trends we provide. That is something that has motivated us to write more for the grooms. I mean, they are the other piece to the lovely duo of a wedding couple.

What really fills my heart with joy is the chance to share what I truly love and have a passion for. I love my job! How many people can say that? There are so many reasons and to name a few…I am constantly immersed in beautiful weddings, gorgeous inspirations, all the crazy talented people, and making some amazing connections with all of you. The brides and grooms, and wedding junkies are driving this wedding blog which I am so proud of.

I like to say a big THANK YOU to Carmen Fuentes for this truly amazing opportunity!
