Top Five Summer Bridal Beauty Trends

Need a summer update before the bachelorette party? We’ve had our eyes on these five trending looks for the summer! Be ready to get dolled up.

Punchy Pink Pucker

BHL1.jpg.jpg

Lay down your lips with a bold pink waxy lipliner. If your lipliner is strong enough, any deep or fun lip color will layer perfectly over it. Anything from a hot pink to a true red will layer into a bold pink that is perfect for summer. This look is sexy and fun, making it perfect for bachelorette parties and night ceremonies. Just be sure that it is a waxy liner so that it stays on longer and through food.

Candlelit Highlighter

BHL5.jpg.jpg

Nothing’s more romantic than candles- why not keep that glow going? We like creamy rose-gold highlighters right on cheekbones. Highlights that are reminiscent of candles and fire make skin glow in the summer and look perfect this season. Just be sure to blend it out with a domed brush or a blending sponge so it photographs well. You don’t want to stand out in a wedding photo for having highlighter all over your face in streaks.

Island-Chic Nails

BHL3.jpg.jpg

Brights are back, but go for more mature brights. A sexy bright will look great on your fingers while they’re wrapped around a margarita on girl’s night, but also refined during the reception. Yellows and oranges are fun for the beach, but for more mature events this summer go for a deep color with a tint of fun.

Rosy Tinted Lids

BHL2.jpg.jpg

We’ve been fans of doing a white liner in the waterline, but we also love more highlighted colors. A warm silver or a rose gold keeps that summer glow going all over. A smooth, highlighter eyeliner opens up your eyes all around. Use it lightly in your inner corners or as a base for your eyeshadow to create a beautiful depth. Plus, it’ll make it look like you woke up with a sparkle (and that the bachelorette didn’t run until 4AM).

Deeply Toned Teases

BHL4.jpg.jpg

In the vein of a more mature bright summer this year, teals and deep greens have been everywhere. Dust off some of your fall colors and push them forward for this summer! Deep cool colors create a mysterious sultry summer vibe that’s perfect for cocktail hour or to pop on a neutral toned dress. Tones like this are also perfect for jewelry pieces, pops of eyeliner, or (if you’re adventurous) a swipe of colored mascara.

Five Trending Bridal Beauty Products

The weather may not always be settled (pick a side- hot or cold!), but it sure is Spring! Even if it’s not perfect Spring break weather wherever you are, you can still take part in these five trending Spring beauty products. If you’re due to get hitched soon, you’ll want to look into these so you can look your best on the big day!BHLSpringBeauty2.jpg

Liquid Lipstick

This trend is really catching on and becoming perfected by some major brands. Stila makes an amazing all-day liquid lipstick that’ll run you $22 at beauty stores like Sephora and Ulta. If you’re unsure, you can pick up Revlon’s liquid lipstick at a drugstore for around $8. Liquid lipsticks can pack some serious color punch while looking fresh all day long. There’s a low touch up factor and the slide on as easily as a lipgloss. Upgrade your lip game, and you’ll make everyone jealous of the lucky guy who gets to kiss you!

Lip Scrub

Between liquid lipstick colors, you will need to take care of those lips. Lip scrubs are becoming increasingly popular ways to take care of those lips just like you take care of your skin and hair. There are a wide range of lip scrubs, from drugstore brands like elf up to specialty store lines from Lush. Try to exfoliate your lips with a scrub once a week (pair it with your next deep condition or mud mask!) to have soft lips all Spring.BHLSpringBeauty1.jpg.jpg

High Gloss Nail Polish

Keep that poolside wet look going from the ceremony to the reception with a super shiny nail color. Bonus points if you can score a dewy Spring break color. If you’re wearing a neutral tone, go as bright as you wanna go to make that mani pop! If you’re wearing a fun color, try to do a tone in the same family. Matching colors can be too put together, keep it loose and fun (that’s what Spring is all about!).

Paraffin Wax Mani

Here in L.A., the paraffin wax mani treatment is popping up faster than our Spring daisies! This involves dipping your hands into a paraffin wax treatment for a few minutes, then washing them off to reveal soft, smooth hands. This add on is perfect if you’re doing gel nails, since the UV lights can be drying and damaging to your skin. Keep those hands looking good, it’ll make your ring sparkle that much more!

SpringBeauty3.jpg.jpg

Hang Ten

Anytime there’s a change in temperature and climate, you’re going to have to do what you can to keep your hair from frizzing. We love leave in conditioners, but our favorite right now is the It’s A 10 brand. They keep our hair smooth, silky, and effortlessly flawless all the time. We love it to create loose Spring-y waves that scream carefree romantic.

Five Must Haves for Spring Bridal Showers

March showers bring April flowers… and sometimes more April showers. The fun kind though- bridal showers! If you’re heading out to a bridal shower soon, here’s our five must haves for the season.

Loud and Proud

Loud prints are hot right now! Go as bold as you want to be, just balance it out so you don’t look like you’re doing too much. If you have a bold print dress, balance it out with a black or beige blazer. Mix basic solids with a loud print to keep it from overpowering an outfit.

Spring.jpg.jpg

Warm Tips

Trade out your neutrals and dark toned nail polishes for warm tones. Pastels are a staple of spring, but punchy spring break colors are trending. If you can find tones that compliment a bold pattern or color scheme you love, all the better! We love punchy pinks that scream “I’m on vacation!”.

Nude From the Ankle Down

What’s trending to balance out the punchy prints? A good nude heel. A structured nude heel is hot right now, and worth the investment. A good pair can become a staple in your wardrobe for years to come. If a basic structured heel isn’t fun enough for you, opt for one with some spiked or studded hardware.

Subtle Braids

Whether you’re doing an updo or letting your tresses run wild, thin braids create the ultimate festival free look. Keep them small so that they don’t overpower your look. You don’t even have to tie them up at the bottom, let them flow freely throughout your hair. A bridal shower, afterall, celebrates love. A romantic look is perfect for the occasion!

Rose Colored Glasses

If you’re heading outside for a bridal shower brunch, ditch the black on black shades for turtleshell or another warmer brown tone. These are perfect for your spring bridal shower, or even to tote around at Coachella. It may be hard to find, but if you can find a warm rosy toned lense you’ll be owning the festival trend.

Top Three Winter Bridal Gown Trends

Bridal trends fluctuate over the years, but there are still certain styles that are classic to certain times of the year. Winter weddings are especially very classic and magical, as a lot of them can take place in a snowy winter wonderland. Even if you aren’t getting married in a place that snows, you can always visualize a winter wedding with cold, snowflakes, and shimmery things of the sort. Of course any wedding dress style can be worn at any time during the year, but the following three styles are the perfect dresses for the winter time.

1. BEADS: Beads, bling, glitter and sparkle. Anything with a heavily beaded belt or bodice is a perfect complement to a plain ball gown, which is the ideal snow queen look. Beading will also reflect nicely off of the sun and will glisten along with the snow if you are taking pictures in a snowy location. A plain ball gown is big and fluffy, and fits well for a wintery setting. The important thing is to keep the ball gown plain, and choose one made of either tulle or satin to keep a soft look. Adding a bit of bling will make the plain dress glisten, and will make the dress the perfect prop for the naturally gorgeous backdrop.

2. LACE: Lace is timeless and always a crowd pleaser, but for the winter time, Chantilly lace is the best way to go. It is very soft, yet exquisite in its design compared to other types of lace. Its’ soft appearance reflects the delicateness of snowfall and is just mesmerizing. Because Chantilly lace is so soft, it falls nicely on the body, and lies gently on the train behind for the audience to see. Also, a Chantilly lace dress with hints of bling will add a nice shimmery touch.

3. ROSETTES: Organza is a soft and fabric that flows nicely and that works well on a classic fitted dress. The perfect fit and flare gown for the winter time though, will have medium sized organza rosettes on the skirt. These rosettes will give the dress a light and airy feel that will liven up any chilly wintery wedding day. They give the dress life and pizazz while still being soft and gentle and elegant. Truly, the key to any wintery trend is to keep the dress looking soft.

About PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com...

PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com is a listing service that connects buyers and sellers of designer wedding dresses.  With nearly 20,000 gowns listed for sale, we’ve got a wedding dress for every style, size and budget.  We help brides find their dress dress – at a fraction of retail.
After the Big Day, we can also help a bride sell her gown and pass it along to another bride.  A wedding dress is much to beautiful to spend a lifetime in a closet, and by selling it, a bride ensures her dress will be loved again.

The All American Bride

The 4th of July is right around the corner, and with wedding season in full swing, it is no surprise that many brides are wondering how to incorporate the Independence Day festivities into their special day. However, if the idea of throwing Old Glory willy-nilly all over your wedding reception makes you want to run for the hills, don’t you worry—we will show you how to add hints of 4th flair without creating a cheesy red, white, and blue festival.

LOCATION:
It can sometimes be difficult to walk the line between cheesy and classy when incorporating a strong theme into your reception. Picking the right location for your big day can be the first step in discovering just how far you can push your theme. For example, an outdoor reception can have more of a vintage Americana feel, while a reception in a hotel ballroom might restrict you in how far you can go with your 4th of July decorations. In other words, allow the “feel” of the venue dictate the “feel” of your theme choices. There is something “American” feeling about an outdoor wedding, whether it’s on a picturesque beach, a beautiful lakeside shore, a rustic barn, or under a tree in your own backyard.

DECORATIONS:
The décor will be the most impactful way for you to add some 4th flair. The key is choosing a design aesthetic that is cohesive—the last thing you want is some random flags stuck onto your table and cutouts of fireworks taped onto the walls. A classic “Americana” or Southern shabby-chic vibe fits into a Norman Rockwell aesthetic that is perfect for Independence Day. Think plaid, gingham, old lace, burlap, and rustic wooden signs and crates—easy, comfortable, and effortless beauty. If you want to go with red, white, and blue, keep the colors subdued and distressed, never bright or tacky. Don’t be afraid to mix patterns when it comes to your table decorations—mismatched linens, tableware, and flatware can give it an old, antique feel. It should look like everything came out of an old vintage trunk found in your grandmother’s attic, not like you bought it at a party store. Vintage flags can serve as table markers at the reception, while wildflowers in porcelain and glass vases delicately enhance the table. Stringing paper lanterns and tea lights add a romantic and nostalgic flare.

Adjusted Drink Station

FOOD:
Your food choices can be a fun and creative way to add some irony and humor into your reception. This is your chance to get cheesy! “Dressed-up” comfort food is a fantastic way to keep with your theme. Bacon-wrapped dates, macaroni and cheese, barbecue, gourmet grilled cheese, sliders, popcorn, a mashed potato bar—the list goes on! Cocktail choices range from craft beer to mint juleps, and for non-alcoholic drinks, think retro favorites: Coke served in real Coke bottles, lemonade, sweet tea, root beer. Mason jars are a great way to serve your drinks, but if you are worn-out from the whole Mason jar trend, you can always mix and match old glass bottles and jars. For desserts, caramel apples, cupcakes, and traditional pies are delicious options, while a snow-cone booth is sure to add some fun and quirk to any reception. Having an outdoor reception? Make a s’mores station around a campfire!

ODDS AND ENDS:
Continue your theme before and after your wedding by having your wedding stationery reflect your Independence Day motif—mixing patterns, using vintage-inspired fonts, and keeping the colors within the subdued color palette from your reception. You can also use the same type of stationery for writing your thank you notes. Wedding favors for your guests could be confetti poppers, sparklers, vintage flags, or even canned preserves from a local farm. Finish off your night with a private fireworks show or by driving off in a classic pick up truck or vintage car.

FourthofJulyPinwheelWindsocks

Finally, it is important to remember why we celebrate the 4th of July, and a great way to do that is by giving back. On your wedding registry, present your guests with the option of donating to a charity of your choice. There are several fantastic organizations that benefit veterans, soldiers, and military families. On your special day, nothing speaks more towards the spirit of the American people than giving back to those who helped us secure our freedom and those who are fighting to keep it intact.

Five Trending Bridal Shower Looks for Summer

Hey gorgeous gals! Summer has officially kicked off, so it’s time to ditch the leggings and enjoy the sunshine in style. Summer bridal showers are a perfect platform to flaunt fun summer style, and this is your guide for what’s trending right now.

Look #1: Flowy and Free

The layered maxi skirt has been on the rise lately, and so has this gorgeous mermaid turquoise shade. To work this trend, I suggest pairing with a button up sleeveless blouse. A white top with an embellished collar dresses up a basic, making it a versatile piece in your wardrobe. Plus it is completely functional and comfy in the summer time! Pair it all with a detailed bun and flattering studs to create a look that is polished and still very trendy. If you’re heading to a bridal shower at a restaurant or even somewhere a little more adventurous, this look will be perfect.

Look #2: Down to Earth

For a look that is trendy with an earthy flair, keep an eye out for pretty braided accessories and lacy layered dresses. A simple belt at the high waistline is quite flattering around a tummy. Pair with a tailored blazer in a hot summer color, like orange. Just make sure to balance it out with nude heels so the color doesn’t clash with anything else.  If your bridal shower is at a home or is a family based event, this warm look is perfect.

Look #3: Classic Romantic

That Tiffany’s blue is always going to be perfect for any event bridal-related, hands down. This look particularly is polished and appropriate for any bridal shower. The modest neck line and the boxy cut of the dress hugs curves in the right places without being too tight or inappropriate. Pair with similarly toned creamy heels and a delicate hairpiece for a look that says ‘classic romance’ meets cute and trendy. To give the look a little more personal flair, pair it with a hot clutch. Knuckle rings have been popping up lately, and this clutch is a very flirty way to work that trend.

Look #4: Bohemian Beauty

This beautiful deep periwinkle tone is showing up everywhere and will be one of the hottest shades this season. The flattering shade will pull a summer glow out of any skin tone, creating an instant sun-kissed look. I’ve been loving this shade paired with warm browns to balance out the powerful periwinkle. For more casual bridal showers, a brown gladiator flat is both trendy and functional. For hair, I would suggest leaving your hair in loose waves either half up, or with a braided detail. This look is all about something beautiful with details that make it all the more personal.

Look #5: Retro Romantics

If you’re heading to a bridal shower that may be a bit more formal (at a country club, etc.), a look along these lines may be perfect for you. The peplum skirt is a trend that has been really taking off this season, and its’shape is both trendy and demure. I love this creamy pink, particularly paired with a lacy peeptoe heel. This look is all very feminine and romantic, but is updated with vintage accessories. The cat eye sunglasses fit seamlessly with the outfit while updating it to have a unique retro-inspired look. Vintage pieces and retro styles have been going strong, and because they are a proven classic any pieces will be instant staples of your wardrobe all year long.

Flower Crowns from Always Ari

Summer is almost here, and all I see are poolside days, beachfront eating, and lovely days enjoyed outside. I love summer, but what I love even more, are summer weddings. As you know by now, I am obsessed with all things wedding, and when you throw it in the summer months, my heart is happy.  Summers in Southern California are just perfect. The weather is breathtaking, sunshine is shining oh so brightly, and the stunning beaches are simply amazing. So, to make things even more fabulous, add some gorgeous head accessories for the summer brides and their maids, and it is a perfect summer day. My current obsession?  Flower crowns. They are trending right now, and I can see why. I  instantly want to infuse every inch of my life in beautiful florals; wildly glamorous, uber bright, bohemian floral crown kinds of florals. I found something pretty lovely in my inbox which I am super thrilled to share. Gorgeous floral crowns all beautifully designed and put together by the fabulous and oh so talented Arianna Garibo of Always Ari. Five lovely floral crowns are about to inspire you, and bring you a sudden burst of gorgeousness.

  • Hydrangea Crown: A quarter size flower halo, in white hydrangeas. This size is bit more casual. It is something you can wear daily. It can add a total chic touch to a simple crop top and jean shorts.  It also can be wore in so many different ways: Either as it is shown in the above image as a way to separate a girls side part, worn as a regular head band or even to decorate a pony or bun! Don’t like white? Don’t worry, this style comes in all different flowers and colors. Whatever color you love!
Always Ari @ Disney
  • Half Flower Crown: This half head halo in yellow roses and a leather strap is gorgeous! A more casual look with the leather strap, and then add a pop of color, and it can make any outfit stand out.  Imagine your bridesmaids wearing this gorgeous piece to compliment their dresses and bring together the whole wedding look. How cute will this be for an outside garden wedding?
Always Ari @ Disney

  • Crystal Vine Halo:  This one is my absolute favorite piece. I love them all, but if I had to choose,  this one is so pretty. This crown is all about the pink crystal vine which wraps around and creates a beautiful hair accessory. It gives an almost fairy-princess feel, for a boho princess bride. The crystals come in pink, clear, blue and green. How cute is this look when paired with a neutral high-low, flowy dress, leaf ring, bangles and pop of color stretchy bracelets? A total bohemian look. This look is darling and perfect for a bridal shower. Simply stunning!

Whimsical and Romantic Details from Megan Ondercin Event Design

Guess what? It is another fabulous Wedding Wednesday! I’m talking drop dead gorgeous inspiration and some serious pretty coming your way. I just love when there is beyond amazing talent creating such lovely design that I can not get enough of. Recently, I attended the Unveiled Orange County Wedding Event where I literally had to stop in my tracks, get my camera ready, and take a few shots of the beautiful details.  Who is behind all the uber talented details?   Megan Ondercin Event Design with the help of  Copper Willow Paper Studio got together and created a sweet and romantic space. Want to know the details of what my eyes were so lucky to see? Oh, you will want to grab your morning coffee, (maybe a second cup by now), and be ready to be inspired!

Megan Ondercin shares all the magic behind the design at the Unveiled Wedding Event…

I wanted to incorporate a few trends of 2013 into my booth decor at the Unveiled bridal show; mixed metallics and peach/coral hues.  This combination created such a warm and inviting space. I wanted it to evoke a romantic sunset mixed with some harder, slightly masculine touches.  I glued pennies to glass vases to create my own unique floral container.  I also wrapped copper and gold wire around the napkins, center vase, and coral water goblets.  The ribbon backdrop created such a whimsical tone that really added that “wow” factor to the space.  Then, again, mixing the soft romantic elements to the harder, more bold tones, I layered the paper medallions over-top of the ribbon backdrop.  Each medallion was spray-painted to give the look of metal without the weight of an actual metal disc.  I also kept the metallic theme going by spray-painting the handles of each piece of flatware.  Copper isn’t often used, so I’m trying to take it mainstream with this display!  Gold is everywhere, and is definitely a major trend in 2013.  So, I kept that in play while introducing copper, gold’s lesser used cousin.

One of my other favorite components were the menu place mats.  Menus are an important part of a wedding, so I wanted to use it in a fresh, new way by printing it on a paper place mat.  With the help of Copper Willow Paper Studio, we were able to create something that really helped pull everything together. The glass plates were also a custom creation.  I took glass dinner plates and, using painter’s tape, created a different striping pattern on the back for each setting. Then, before letting the spray paint fully dry, I pulled the tape off so that it created a rough edging to the stripe.

The last show-stopper that I’m quite proud of is the custom sewn table runner with coordinating napkins. Coming from a fashion background, I love browsing fabric stores.  I went in with a specific vision of what colors and pattern I wanted and found this gorgeous cotton print. The print is modern, yet funky and cheerful.

My giveaway was a card with a single penny glued on and the famous bridal phrase “something new, something old, something borrowed, something blue….and a sixpence in her shoe.”  That last part of the saying often gets dropped out.  Since I incorporated pennies in to my design, I wanted it to carry-over as a minor theme to my giveaway.  The saying states that if the bride puts a penny, or ‘sixpence’, in her shoe it will bring good luck to the marriage. It was a hit with the guests!
