Top Five Bridal Shower Games

Party time! If you’ve got a bridal shower coming up, you know you’ve got an awesome day ahead of you with your girlfriends. Bridal showers are really fun, and can range from family friendly to crazy girl’s night out material. Either way your bridal shower ends up going, one awesome way to bond and laugh with your friends is to play some fun bridal shower games. We’ve got five games that will match any crowd and create some fantastic memories! Party on, pretty ladies!

Bridal Pictionary

Get a few white boards or sketchpads and throw some fun wedding-related phrases or words in a bowl. You can split the room up so that people can mingle and play with people they may not normally interact with. Throw words in like “toast”, “honeymoon”, and “groom” but also throw in some specific words to the bride. If she’s a teacher, throw in the word “classroom” or “teacher’s pet”. Keep it light and cute but also centered around the guest of honor.

The Newlywed Game

A total classic and perfect game for bridal showers. Have some questions ready to go and split the group up again. Grab those handy dandy white boards and have the teams guess on the answers to the questions you have- and make sure they always have to do with the bride. Have questions like where they met, where their first kiss was, how many days they’ve been together, etc. You can throw in a few silly ones too, like would they rather go skiing or spelunking, things like that. Keep it light, keep it fun, and keep it moving fast enough that it doesn’t drag out.

Count the Kisses

This one is a super easy game that everyone will be able to play, even if you’re shy. Have a vase or bowl of kisses out with a lid so no one eats any. Have everyone guess how many kisses are in the bowl, and whoever guesses closest wins the vase and the kisses! If you want to do hugs and kisses, you can label the vase ‘XOXO’ to make it super cute. It’s an easy game plus someone leaves with a whole lot of chocolate!

Make Memories

Have all the guests write down a cute story about themselves and the bride without using their name. Once everyone has been able to write down their stories, have the maid of honor or some of the bridal party read the stories out loud. The bride has to guess who wrote what story, and everyone gets an awesome walk down memory lane! You can’t have the bride read the questions off though- the handwriting could be a giveaway!

Mouth-watering Mystery

Whatever your bride’s favorite snack is- get a ton of different brands. If she’s a chocolate fiend, pick up some hersheys, godiva, sees, all sorts of fun stuff. If she loves gummy bears, grab some trolli, black forest, haribo, anything you can find. Unwrap everything and pour them into different bowls. After dinner or anything savory, everyone gets to go pick a piece from each bowl and guess what brand each piece of candy is. Whoever is closest gets a pack of their choice! This is a fun game that gives everyone an excuse to munch on something sweet.

Five Must Haves for Spring Bridal Showers

March showers bring April flowers… and sometimes more April showers. The fun kind though- bridal showers! If you’re heading out to a bridal shower soon, here’s our five must haves for the season.

Loud and Proud

Loud prints are hot right now! Go as bold as you want to be, just balance it out so you don’t look like you’re doing too much. If you have a bold print dress, balance it out with a black or beige blazer. Mix basic solids with a loud print to keep it from overpowering an outfit.

Warm Tips

Trade out your neutrals and dark toned nail polishes for warm tones. Pastels are a staple of spring, but punchy spring break colors are trending. If you can find tones that compliment a bold pattern or color scheme you love, all the better! We love punchy pinks that scream “I’m on vacation!”.

Nude From the Ankle Down

What’s trending to balance out the punchy prints? A good nude heel. A structured nude heel is hot right now, and worth the investment. A good pair can become a staple in your wardrobe for years to come. If a basic structured heel isn’t fun enough for you, opt for one with some spiked or studded hardware.

Subtle Braids

Whether you’re doing an updo or letting your tresses run wild, thin braids create the ultimate festival free look. Keep them small so that they don’t overpower your look. You don’t even have to tie them up at the bottom, let them flow freely throughout your hair. A bridal shower, afterall, celebrates love. A romantic look is perfect for the occasion!

Rose Colored Glasses

If you’re heading outside for a bridal shower brunch, ditch the black on black shades for turtleshell or another warmer brown tone. These are perfect for your spring bridal shower, or even to tote around at Coachella. It may be hard to find, but if you can find a warm rosy toned lense you’ll be owning the festival trend.

Five Fun Bridal Shower Games

Bridal showers are the perfect time to be silly and have fun, while still celebrating the bride to be. You want the bride to relax and enjoy some girl time with the special women in her life. Games are always a great way to break the ice and get everyone to interact and have fun together. These are just some game ideas to use, but remember that you can always improvise or make your own! Be creative and don’t be afraid to look funny. Remember that the goal is to be silly, and have it be a memorable occasion for the bride to be.
1. GROOM FAVORITES: It is always funny to see how well couples really do know each other; especially as their wedding day fast approaches! Prior to the bridal shower, ask the groom what his favorites are – favorite food, color, hobby, etc. You can change it up by adding in what his most embarrassing moment was, what superhero he thinks he is, what word he would describe his fiance as, or what animal he compares his fiance to be and why. Asking random questions will get funny responses from both the bride and the groom. Comparing the two answers is destined to get some good laughs out of the bride and everyone at the shower. You can also change it up by asking both the bride and groom things beforehand, and then have all of the girls fill out a worksheet on their own as to what they think the bride and groom have answered.
2. ADVICE: Pick a wedding related word, such as ‘wedding, matrimony, marriage, husband,’ etc, but make sure it is long enough. Type it up on a piece of paper as if it were an acronym (one letter per line, and then a long blank line following the letter). Hand out the worksheet to everyone, and ask them to fill in a piece of advice, based on the first letter of that word. It is funny to see people’s choice of advice when their options are limited to a pre chosen letter. The older women in the group always add to the funny responses as well. Have some people share what they wrote down, and then collect all of the papers and give to the bride for her to read on her own afterwards. Some advice will be practical, some will be funny, and some… well, you’ll just have to play the game to see!
3. DON’T SAY IT: Before the bridal shower, write out certain words such as ‘wedding, bride, honeymoon, grooms name’ etc on pretty cardstock, and place them around the room. Buy a bunch of beads, and hand one or two out to everyone. Announce that there are certain words that you cannot say, or else you will lose your beads to the person who heard you say it. At the end of the shower, whoever has the most beads will get a prize!
4. WORD SCRAMBLE: Look up a bunch of wedding related words (difficult ones that aren’t heard of as much) and scramble them on a piece of paper. Hand out a worksheet with about 20 words on it, and set a time limit for people to unscramble them. Whoever unscrambles the most words in 3-5 minutes wins!
5. DRESSMAKING: We all know that the classic wedding game is to make your own version of a wedding dress out of toilet paper. Why not switch things up and use other arts and crafts? Go to an arts and crafts store and buy pipe cleaners, fake flowers, some extra fabric, tulle, or other fun and random objects. Divide the group into teams, give them certain items, and set a time limit. Whoever has the most creative outfit at the end will also receive a prize!

Five Trending Bridal Shower Looks for Summer

Hey gorgeous gals! Summer has officially kicked off, so it’s time to ditch the leggings and enjoy the sunshine in style. Summer bridal showers are a perfect platform to flaunt fun summer style, and this is your guide for what’s trending right now.

Look #1: Flowy and Free

The layered maxi skirt has been on the rise lately, and so has this gorgeous mermaid turquoise shade. To work this trend, I suggest pairing with a button up sleeveless blouse. A white top with an embellished collar dresses up a basic, making it a versatile piece in your wardrobe. Plus it is completely functional and comfy in the summer time! Pair it all with a detailed bun and flattering studs to create a look that is polished and still very trendy. If you’re heading to a bridal shower at a restaurant or even somewhere a little more adventurous, this look will be perfect.

Look #2: Down to Earth

For a look that is trendy with an earthy flair, keep an eye out for pretty braided accessories and lacy layered dresses. A simple belt at the high waistline is quite flattering around a tummy. Pair with a tailored blazer in a hot summer color, like orange. Just make sure to balance it out with nude heels so the color doesn’t clash with anything else.  If your bridal shower is at a home or is a family based event, this warm look is perfect.

Look #3: Classic Romantic

That Tiffany’s blue is always going to be perfect for any event bridal-related, hands down. This look particularly is polished and appropriate for any bridal shower. The modest neck line and the boxy cut of the dress hugs curves in the right places without being too tight or inappropriate. Pair with similarly toned creamy heels and a delicate hairpiece for a look that says ‘classic romance’ meets cute and trendy. To give the look a little more personal flair, pair it with a hot clutch. Knuckle rings have been popping up lately, and this clutch is a very flirty way to work that trend.

Look #4: Bohemian Beauty

This beautiful deep periwinkle tone is showing up everywhere and will be one of the hottest shades this season. The flattering shade will pull a summer glow out of any skin tone, creating an instant sun-kissed look. I’ve been loving this shade paired with warm browns to balance out the powerful periwinkle. For more casual bridal showers, a brown gladiator flat is both trendy and functional. For hair, I would suggest leaving your hair in loose waves either half up, or with a braided detail. This look is all about something beautiful with details that make it all the more personal.

Look #5: Retro Romantics

If you’re heading to a bridal shower that may be a bit more formal (at a country club, etc.), a look along these lines may be perfect for you. The peplum skirt is a trend that has been really taking off this season, and its’shape is both trendy and demure. I love this creamy pink, particularly paired with a lacy peeptoe heel. This look is all very feminine and romantic, but is updated with vintage accessories. The cat eye sunglasses fit seamlessly with the outfit while updating it to have a unique retro-inspired look. Vintage pieces and retro styles have been going strong, and because they are a proven classic any pieces will be instant staples of your wardrobe all year long.

To complete the yellow laced romantic ensemble, beauty stylist Sarah Zaret creates a fun bridal shower makeup look. She chooses the gorgeous coral color as her inspiration. Coral crush is all the rage!  It exudes happiness and sunshine, and looks great on everyone.  To create the coral crush look, Sarah used Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Brick and cream blush for cheeks and eyes.  For lips she used the new Glossy Lip Stain from YSL, and for a bold brow look,  she used Anastasia.
