Arkansas Chapel Wedding

With rain in the forecast, this wedding turned out to be a gorgeous one. And the lovely couple did not allow the rain to stop them from smiling all day. Actually, the rain created a beautiful backdrop for their quaint chapel wedding. Besides the obvious favorite detail of mine, the  bride and groom, what stands out is the magnificent and stunning chapel. It is absolutely amazing! This chapel wedding makes my heart very happy.  Like smiling ear-to-ear and can’t stop. See all the romantic details from behind the lens of  Elmer Escobar Photography.

From Elmer Escobar Photography

Jade and Drew have this amazing quality about them, where they don’t let things get to them and they’re happy as long as they’re together. This was especially good because days leading up to the wedding the forecast was for rain and thunder all weekend. Knowing that we would be photographing at Garvan Woodland Gardens at least put us at ease if we had to shoot indoors. The beautiful chapel could make a beautiful backdrop if we had to shoot indoors. But of course those who don’t worry and don’t freak out over details they can’t change tend to get what they deserve: a nice clear day! Although it did downpour on the way to the chapel from downtown Hot Springs. By the time we got to the chapel it was slightly overcast but no rain whatsoever. Perfect!

Drew was getting ready with the guys at a different location. My second photographer captured them hanging out, getting ready and when Drew gave his groomsmen their gifts. But soon enough it was time for Drew to see his beautiful bride for the first time. We set them up on a bridge so Jade could walk up to Drew. The reaction from a groom is always a precious moment. You could see the joy Drew had when he first saw Jade. Like a kid on Christmas! They had a few moments where we could do a few photographs with them and their wedding party, but soon enough it was time to line up and make it official!

After the ceremony there was just enough time do a few more photos after family photos were taken and then we had to head back downtown to the Mountain Valley Water building for the reception. We knew by then that it was going to be a really fun reception. All of Jade and Drew’s friends were high energy party people and the band did an amazing job to get them moving. Definitely one of the most festive receptions I’ve seen. One of the moments that I’m sure will stand out to everyone was when Jade and Drew’s mothers got up and danced together. It was such a fun moment and you could see in their faces how happy they were to see their kids getting married. Thank you Jade and Drew for having us. You guys have been amazing from day one and I wish you nothing but the best now and in the future! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Osborne!

Top Five Trending Nail Colors for Winter Brides

Did you switch up your regular lip palette yet? The seasons have changed, it’s time to switch things up. If you’ve gotten on board with the rest of your beauty routine, it’s time to step up your mani/pedi game for the winter. It’s fair to opt out for a classic french mani for your big day (don’t worry, we won’t judge you!), but if you’re more adventurous or if you just want new fun shades for your bachelorette party we’ve got our top five picks for this season.

BHL1.jpg.jpg

We Love Olive

For a more unexpected neutral, swoop up an earthy olive tone. This color is beautiful and complimentary of the woodsy nature of the holidays and winter in general. If you want to pair this with an outfit for your bachelorette party, get something bold in color but in the same color family- it’ll be the perfect pairing (just like you and your fiance!).

BHL2.jpg.jpg

Sparkly Deep Tones

We love deep dark colors that balance out with glitter chunks for dimension. Paint this on over short nails for an edgy progressive look or on your toes for a fun sparkly surprise. This color really pops against a white dress and gives you a cool, chic look. The glitter is so necessary for making your mani that much more fun. If you wear this out with your bridesmaids, they’ll be totally jealous of how pretty your nails are.

BHL3.jpg.jpg

Deep and Daring

If glitter chunks aren’t your thing, find a deep toned shade that you can layer to be as dark as you want it to be. Find something with a color-balancing sheen- like the color shown above. It skips the chunkier glitter in favor of a more subtle complexity in the shade. There is some glitter but it’s so small that it just creates a cool effect of changing a little bit when you change angles. This is for those girls who do a deep dark lipstick- if you’re daring enough for big bold lips, you’re daring enough for this!

BHL4.jpg.jpg

Rudolph’s Red Mani

If you love those classics but want to adjust it for the holiday, a plummy red is perfect for you. Don’t go too dark or you can risk it looking a little vampy. You also want to skip the orange based reds and save those for the spring. A plummer red is complimentary for the season and still looks so perfect for all occasions. Red nails are just as perfect for weddings as a french mani, but that much sexier.

BHL5.jpg.jpg

Galaxy-Inspired Nudes

If you want something subtle but fun, look for a warm nude shade that still has some glitter. Nothing says holidays like throwing glitter and sparkles all over everything! This nude is sheer enough to have your natural tones pull through but provides enough color to make your mani fun. This is more unconventional, so if you want to skip it for the wedding you can save it for the next bridesmaids’ night out.

Industrial Vintage Southern Wedding

This bride’s “something blue” is one of my favorites. Blue probably ranks high on my color spectrum list, and this shade of blue is on top of that list.  This Southern bride incorporated the beautiful blue color in more than one way. The stunning bridal shoes, the elegant garter, the darling bridesmaid’s dresses, and other small reception details. It is that pop of blue that ties this wedding together so beautifully.  All set at a venue where industrial meets vintage.   Can I please  time travel and go back to the moment these two say ” I do”, and be a part of this Southern wedding? Not a Southern gal, but this wedding makes me want to travel to the South and enjoy all the pretty details.  What makes this wedding even more amazing? A talented photographer, Andie Freeman Photography, who is after my wedding photo loving heart. Captured every moment just perfectly. Each image is makes me smile and say “WOW”.

Erin and Ricky married in a beautiful vintage, industrial wedding  location.  It was a stunning display of understated fashion with exquisite details..  Erin and Ricky chose a wedding venue that is a converted Industrial cotton mill called The Engine Room.  And it rained. . .I mean rained. . .The whole day.  Poured the rain.  Fortunately, we had lots of natural light from the large windows that grace the venue.  And I could not have asked for a more amazing wedding day!!  Fun and relaxed, we had a great time!

The brides favorite detail of her wedding day were the “button” on her bouquet.  She states, “My grandfather had passed a few years back from lung caner and his US Navy lapel pins were used as the “buttons” on my bouquet.

Mollie and Corey are two childhood friends who grew into sweethearts.   They have a love of the water so it was only fitting that these two Southerners wed on Alabama’s beautiful Gulf Coast in Orange Beach, Alabama .  Vintage doors,  flower boxes filled with pinks, whites, and mint, an ice cream bar, homemade strawberry shortcake, and fresh preserves an set on the the water.  It was one to remember!

Top Five Trending Lip Colors for Winter Brides

The seasons are starting to change which means that it’s time to change up your color palette as well. If you’re getting hitched this season, or if you just have lots of wedding events on the horizon for the next few months, check out our picks for the top five colors for winter.

BHL1.jpg.jpg

Bright Winter Kisses

If you’re not really a winter person, pick up a fun fuchsia color for this season. A lot of colors this season are a little more muted and darker, but if you love your brights go for it! We love this blue based fuschia to bring color to your face- and to pop against your white dress.

BHL2.jpg.jpg

Mild Mauves

Tones like this warm raspberry will look beautiful and classic with anything you wear- so it’ll look great with your bridesmaids too. What’s great about this shade is that it’s not overpowering. It is beautiful and noticeable, but will still look balanced and great with full eye makeup. You can use this both for everyday or for the big day- it works no matter what you’re wearing this winter.

BHL3.jpg.jpg

Cherry Bombshell

If you’re more into that classic pinup look, we like a really warm bold red look. When you image your wedding day, most people see a beautiful white dress and luscious red lips- this is our pick for winter brides! This shade is a little too deep for spring and summer, but looks so good for winter. You’ll be the belle of your own ball if you pair this with your white dress.

BHL4.jpg.jpg

Plummy Nudes

If you’re not big on bright colors, aim for a plummy nude tone. Cold-toned nudes run the risk of washing your face out while it’s cold, so you want something that will bring color into your face. A subtle, nude plum warms your face up without overpowering your look. If you don’t usually wear makeup, this is perfect for your big day since it’s still true to your style.

BHL5.jpg.jpg

Deep Wine Lips

If you’re a little more dramatic with your usual look, go for a bold deep red. If you want that Hollywood starlet look, these tones are perfect for you. You want the deepest, sultriest red you can find and be sure to line it with lots of liner to keep it from sliding around. Pair it with simple eyes- keep it to black eyeliner and big lashes and you’ve got an instant classic Hollywood bride.

Styled Photo Shoot: Rustic Garden Wedding

Sometimes when I see the first images of a styled wedding photo shoot, I feel like my heart is going to come out of my chest. It is just a styled shoot, and not even a real wedding. But man, does it feel like one!  Every lovely detail from the grand dessert table, the gorgeous couple, the stunning gowns, the pretty florals, and the beautiful colors,  makes my heart sing.  When you have a  fabulous team of vendors together with talented photographer, L’Estelle Photography, you have a whimsical garden masterpiece. A masterpiece worthy of a standing ovation. Yes, this styled shoot is totally after my vintage wedding loving heart.  I can not stop swooning over all the prettiness.

From  L’Estelle Photography

The style of this session is rustic with a modern twist, and the theme is romance in a summer garden. The set is decorated with soft and fresh colors, such as yellows, pinks, and greens, with gold details being the emphasis to depict the luxurious feel. We found this little secret garden in the urban city; it is so quiet and beautiful, and is a perfect location for a whimsical wedding.

Our planner, D’Love Affair Wedding & Events, sourced all vendors and made this session happen. The set is provided and designed by Past Pieces, from small details like vintage books and suitcases, to big items like the wooden doors, and beautiful couches. We love the rustic dessert table, supported by wine barrels.

The beautiful wedding dress, from Pronovias’ new 2015 collection, is provided by Clara Couture Bridal. This dress features an unique loose strap design, with elegant bead work. The jewelleries, designed by Mirror Mirror Bijoux, also complimented the pink sequins dress with its unique colors and textures.

The grand dessert and cake is all designed and handcrafted by Kitty Wong Pastry Shop. The wedding cake, also the main focus of the dessert table, is made with exquisite details like ruffles and gold sequins. The cake was painted with white and gold watercolor effects, and decorated with pink and ivory flowers; all the details are handmade and are edible!

Top Five Stocking Stuffers for Bridesmaids

Did you miss Black Friday? And Cyber Monday? Yikes! No worries, there are still a TON of sales, specials and promotions going on in time for the holidays. You’re going to want to try to get all of your holiday shopping done as soon as possible or you’ll end up at a mall at 11:30PM surrounded by angry, rushed shoppers. Yeah, that’s no fun. It’s a good idea to put your bridesmaids on your shopping list- they’re doing a lot to support you for your big day and you have the opportunity to thank them and give them something sweet. If you’re not sure what you can get to show you love them, we’ve got five awesome ideas that will be the perfect stocking stuffers.

BHL1.jpg.jpg

For the Business-minded Bridesmaid

For the girl who comes late to bridal party planning because she’s always caught up in meetings- pick up something fun from a Staples or Office Depot. We love fun things like 2015 planners, fun shaped post-its, and awesome tape dispensers. Scotch makes these awesome tape dispensers in shapes like martini glasses, puppies, high heels, and lizards. It’s easy to find fun stuff for under $15, and you know they won’t regift it.

BHL1.jpg.jpg

For the Sweet Toothed Bridesmaid

If you’re so over the mall and just want to fit your holiday shopping into your regular shopping, head over to do a specialty grocery store, like Trader Joe’s. Trader Joe’s has specialty packaged candy, chocolates, and even some home goods that are ready for holidays, like this holiday set of Joe-Joes. Just keep an eye out for the fun stuff while you pick up cereal and fruit. One of our picks is the chocolate sampler- it’s a small cube that has all sorts of different chocolates inside. It’s easy, a universal crowd pleaser, and will give your bridesmaids something to munch on while they’re watching you try on dresses.

BHL2.jpg.jpg

For the Team Photographer

You know that one girl that immediately instagrams everything you all do as a group? She’s secretly dying to get a selfie stick but feels silly buying one for herself. For most this will be a gag gift, but if you get it for the right bridesmaid it’ll actually be used. Most selfie sticks can be under $20, and it’s not hard to find them for under $15. You can get one for your photo-friendliest friend in a color that matches her bridesmaid dress, so when she inevitably whips it out on the big day it won’t clash with her outfit.

BHL3.jpg.jpg

For the Bag Lady

You know that one girl that comes out and needs a chair for her purse because she stuffs all sorts of fun stuff in her bag? You know how bummed she is everytime you go out and there’s no purse hooks at the bar? Fix that problem for her! Get a purse hook that she can stick in her purse and will create a place for her bag no matter where she goes. You can cruise etsy and find some awesome personalizable ones. You can put a picture of the both of you on there to remind her of how awesome you both are! She’ll thank you on your next girl’s night and she can have her purse next to her no matter where you go.

BHL2.jpg.jpg

For the Bombshell Bridesmaid

For the bridesmaid of yours that keeps hinting that she can do your makeup- give her some new toys to play with! All your favorite brands are doing fun holiday packs right now so it’s the perfect time to buy for your bridesmaids. Our favorite store for deals right now is Ulta- they are constantly offering bonus freebies, bonus rewards points, and have the best packages for both high end and drugstore level cosmetics. We love the Benefit Benebalm package- there’s three whole sets of the Benebalm and Benetint shades that are individually packaged and ready for gifting. We also love this EOS gift set for your girlfriends that need a little extra hydration this winter, and this kitty lip balm from Forever 21. Your bridesmaids will look so cute for all the photo ops coming up, and they’ll have you to thank for it!

Black, White, and Pink Washington Wedding

Excuse me while I swoon over all the pretty details of this romantic wedding.  Oh my goodness! I can not handle the sweetness of this wedding. I love the wedding colors. Pink can sometimes be too girly, but in this case, the color pink is classy and romantic as it compliments the black and white stripes so perfectly. Today, pink=romance. Fully in love with all the details, from the gorgeous greenery surrounding the ceremony to the pink roses at the reception.  IJ Photo was on hand to capture all the sweet moments.  And you thought your Monday was going to be boring and dull.  Enjoy!!

From IJ Photo

April and Ben live in Portland but chose to have their wedding in Washington. Together with April’s two boys, Sam and Simon,  this lovely couple promised to love one other on a beautiful afternoon at the Inglewood Golf Club.  The wedding day was filled with beautiful emotions right from the start. Luckily April’s sister and maid of honor did a great job keeping tissues close at hand.  The couple have a charming manner with each other that is not only relaxed, but inspiring to watch. It was also obvious that Ben not only loves April, but her boys as well. During their ceremony he shared special vows just for Sam and Simon. At the reception Ben’s family carried out a  Nelson family tradition with the performance of a skit based on the story of how they met in Vegas. The skit included a choreographed dance and some hilarious cross dressing by Ben’s groomsmen.  The details of their wedding were expertly crafted and stylish. Using black and white stripes with pink roses, hydrangeas,  elegant candelabras , and even pink up-lights to flood the room with beautiful soft light.

Top Seven Best Holiday Bridesmaid Bonding Activities

It’s getting chilly outside but that can’t stop you from getting out with your girls! If you want your bridesmaids to bond this winter leading up to the big day, we’ve got seven awesome ways for you all to bond. You can turn any of these into one of your bachelorette party, or even a pre-bachelorette party. Get out, have fun, and stay warm!

Secret Santa

A cute, sweet way for you to bond with your bridesmaids is to get everyone together and have a secret santa party. Arrange secret santas a week or two before your party, and get everyone together. You can theme it to add to the mystery, like as a masquerade party where secret santas are super secret! You’ll all have to get to know each other while you’re shopping for each other, and it’s a great excuse to hang out and bond with a low level of bridal talk.

Volunteer Together

‘Tis the season for giving- both for loved ones and for those who need it. Get together as a group and do some serious good. If you’re all crafty or Pinterest fanatics, have a baking or cooking party and donate food to a local shelter or pass food out to those who need it. If you’re more hands on, volunteer at a soup kitchen. If you’re all mallrats, go out and pick up blankets, jackets, winter gear, anything at all and donate them to those who need it. It’s such a great way to give back and get close together. Plus, you can brag on how your bridal party gave back during your big day!

Santa Crawl

Every big city nowadays has a santa crawl around the holidays, and it’s so amazing! A ton of people dress up as Santas, elves, and all sorts of fun holiday characters and go place to place. It’s totally fun and a great way to experience fun new places with your girls. You can all dress up as a themed group and have a great time! Team bridesmaids is always the best team to be on- especially if they’re sporting some holiday cheer.

Gingerbread Bake-Off

Want to stay in for the night? Have a little competition with a fun holiday classic. There are gingerbread house kits that can be as low as around $5 for a whole box, or you can bake everything fresh yourself (but that’s more of an advanced move). Get your girls together, put out some icing and candy, and see who can build the best gingerbread house. Trader Joe’s has a great gingerbread house kit that’s under $10 and actually is super yummy. You can hashtag your whole night and see which of your bridesmaids is the most creative.

Ice Skating

Remember all those birthdays in the fourth grade you got invited to at ice rinks? Yeah, it’s still fun to go ice skating! Some places even have discount nights during the week when it’s a little slower, and if you go on a school night it can be less crowded. If you have a more athletic group of bridesmaids, this could be a really fun way to bond and get into the holiday spirit. There’s a whole bunch of outdoor ice rinks popping up this season in major malls and shopping areas and they’re way more fun than they look.

Tree Decorating Party

Get together at someone’s house and everyone needs to bring different ornaments to decorate a bridesmaids-only tree. You can sit around in footy pajamas, sew popcorn together, throw tinsel up in the air, and hang your ornaments with care. If you’re able to keep it to just bridesmaids so it can be your ‘family’ tree. Fake trees are actually fairly inexpensive (under $50 for some serious tree height!) and are a great addition to any house to make everything look more festive.

Hot Cocoa Night

Stay home and make a whole ton of hot cocoa and have fun stuff to go along with it. You can add things like raspberry, pirouettes, gingerbread cookies, all sorts of fun stuff to your hot cocoa. Have everyone make a different flavor and have fun with it! Take pictures, compare recipes, and see who can make the best original hot cocoa. If you find a recipe you all really love, write it down and maybe save it for your next winter party! Or if it’s really good- your wedding!

Georgia Farm Wedding from Matthew Druin Photography

Farm weddings are after my heart. When you have a wide and vast farm field, a lovely bride and groom, an outdoor dinner set up, and then a gorgeous scenery surrounding it all, I just want to immerse myself in it all day. I do not know what it is, but I LOVE outdoor weddings. Especially when there is  farm added to the mix.  I guess it is the rustic and nature elements that get me every time.  So when I first glimpsed at the first image of this beautiful wedding set at a Georgia Farm, all I wanted to do is to view more. It was pretty hard to choose which images to share, as I literally wanted to share ALL of them with you. So without any more delay, enjoy the breathtaking photographs from Matthew Druin Photography and get ready to be amazed.

From Matthew Druin Photography...

During the summer, Chase worked at the YMCA Summer Camp for a few years, but he would never forget the summer of 2011. After Kelly applied for many internships during graduate school, only to have countless options fall through, she finally got one at the YMCA Summer Camp. Although they are not sure if it was love at first sight, there was definitely some amazing magic that happened that summer. They began building on their friendship the whole summer and later moved into a relationship. From there, the rest is history.

Kelly and Chase aren’t your average couple, after all, their first date included exploring Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, so they decided to get married on a beautiful farm nestled in the Northwest part of Georgia. The venue, simply known as The Farm in Rome, Georgia, was the perfect fit for their big day.
Even without phone coverage, we were still able to make everything happen perfectly and on-time. To make it all a little trickier, both Kelly and Chase, as well as a few others at the wedding were twins! Once everyone was dressed, it was pretty easy to spot who was who. Lol. The Farm has A LOT of property and things are very spread out so we had to drive a good distance to meet with Kelly and the girls while they were getting ready. The guys got ready a little closer to the main ceremony site which was convenient when it was time to meet for the ceremony. The ceremony itself was held very deep in a wide-open field making it the perfect location.
After the ceremony everyone took time to recover and touch up from the scorching hot ceremony before meeting back up to finish the portraits. We then all moved to the reception location a little ways down the property at the main barn area. Once Kelly and Chase were introduced and had their first dance, everyone sat down to dinner. Instead of having everyone sit at separate tables, everyone sat at the longest table I’ve ever seen! Seriously…it was looooonnnnggggg. I thought this was a great touch, keeping everyone close for conversation and connection.
Once dinner was over, everyone was excited to eat cake, let loose, and enjoy each others company. Black Tie Events kicked off the dancing and kept it going long into the night. One of the most important things to Kelly and Chase about their wedding was being surrounded by loving family and friends. I think they accomplished that well.
