Top Five Most Romantic Spots at Universal Studios Hollywood

BHLUSH.jpg.jpgWe’re total romantics (obviously), and we love it down here in sunny Southern California. One of the best parts about being a romantic in Southern California? The awesome amusement parks out here! Date night is so much easier if out here, there’s always a new ride or special event going on at any of the number of theme parks here. One of our favorite parks is Universal Studios Hollywood. It’s located in Universal City just a little north of Los Angeles and is an actual working production studio. It’s definitely not the biggest theme park out here in the wild west, but it is a fun full day of exploring with someone special. Grab your sweetheart and hit up our top five favorite romantic spots at Universal Studios!

BHLUSH5.jpg.jpg

The Universal Studios Tour

The Studio Tour is one of the longest-standing rides at Universal Studios Hollywood, and is a staple for a reason. The tour goes through live production lots and gives the riders an inside look into movies like Jaws, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and War of the Worlds. So many big productions have taken place on this lot, so the whole ride takes about an hour. That’s plenty of time to snuggle up with your sweetheart and sneak a kiss during the King Kong 360 part. Biggest plus? If you want to crack open a cold one, you can! Soda, snacks, and even beer is sold in the line and you are allowed to bring on food and snacks to munch on during the ride!

BHLUSH2.jpg.jpg

Minion Mayhem Water Park

Minion Mayhem is a newer installation in the park which replaced The Terminator ride. They gutted the old auditorium, revamped the inside to be an all about Despicable Me, and put in a fun water park where the old soda-sponsored waterpark used to be. The park is meant for kids, but if you want to splash around with your sweetheart, splash away! Just watch out for the little ones. If you forgot your swimsuit, don’t worry! The park is on the edge of the park and overlooks all of the San Fernando Valley, creating one of the most beautiful views of the valley. Share a cotton candy and watch the day turn into night over the edge of Universal Studios.

BHLUSH3.jpg.jpg

The Simpsons Ride

Do Homer and Marge not scream romance? It may not seem romantic, but the carnival-themed Simpsons area is sure to make you feel like a teenager again, running around hand in hand with your sweetie. There’s vintage scenes from The Simpsons playing the throughout the whole line and fantastic character art to look at. It’s sure to shoot you both down nostalgia lane, which is always perfect to bond over.

BHLUSH4.jpg.jpg

Jurassic Park

Yes, it’s a water ride, but the first part is actually really sweet and slow. The ride begins with a patient ride through peaceful dinosaurs you can ooh and aww at with your sweetheart. There are moments where you can get squirted by water, but that’s really just another reason to snuggle closer isn’t it? You get an excuse to hold hands when the T-Rex finally goes after you, plus there’s a photo at the bottom you can keep as a souvenir! Water rides can be romantic too, just try not to wear white on this ride. You will get park water all over, and see-through clothes on a date are no fun.

BHLUSH6.jpg.jpg

Little Europe

There’s this little strip between the Animal Show and Minion Mayhem filled with little shops and bakeries themed to be like England, France, and Italy. We geek out over the Sherlock section (complete with a double-decker bus!), but you’ll be able to grab a pastry and drink over at the French restaurant with your sweetie. Hop on a stationary Vespa in the Italian corner and take some action shots, or head over to little Ireland for a more grown-up refreshment (the only full bar inside the park- all other stands are beer only or pina coladas). It’s a fun place to wander around and take pictures and saves you thousands of dollars in airfare to the EU!

Holly’s bridal session took place at Royalty Pecan Farms in Caldwell, Texas. Such a beautiful, lovely girl mixed with amazing weather made for some of my very favorite bridal portraits ever!

Country Chic DIY Wedding

All I can say is that this bride and her bridesmaids know how to rock the cowboy boots and make them look so stylish and pretty. I do not consider myself a country girl, but I am loving this wedding and all the country style details. One detail that has my heart in full gear is the cute wedding party attendant.  No, I am not refering to a groomsmen! But I am talking about a furry friend who is so adorable, I cant stand it! What a sweet idea to  incorporate the couple’s dog into their wedding.  I love it! Before heading off to start the weekend, make sure you take a look at the lovely images captured by From the Hip Photo. Get ready to say “Aww, and “How cute”, several times over and over again. Well, at least that is what I said.

From the Hip Photo...

Kaitlyn and Ryan met by chance on a cruise while on vacation with family and friends in 2007.  They met in a casino when Ryan gave Kaitlyn gambling advice.  After years of a long distance relationship, they were engaged in Cocoa Beach, Florida, when a plane flew over the ocean with a banner reading, “I love you Kaitlyn, will you marry me?”. Their wedding in Denver took place in June and was a gorgeous, country-chic day with plenty of unique DIY touches to reflect their laidback personalities.

Throughout the day, the couple enjoyed being surrounded by loved ones. The bridal party featured a Brides-man, and the family dog, Zoe, was their flower girl. The ceremony was officiated by a close friend of the couple who was ordained just for the occasion!  There were also plenty of Western details as a nod to the bride’s hometown – from a signature Prickly Pear Margarita to a bridal party n cowboy boots.  After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a reception with DIY touches (flowers arranged by the bride!), antique décor from Kaitlyn’s grandmother, yard games, hula-hoops, and personalized shot glasses and whiskey favors.

Kaitlyn and Ryan created a reception with an ideal atmosphere for their guests to enjoy themselves and be comfortable, and everyone had a wonderful time letting loose!  Congrats to the happy couple!

Top Five Trendy Fall Wedding Pieces

Fall fashion is always exciting- just check out any fashion magazine right now! This fall we’re seeing this beautiful blend of deep darker colors that we usually use mixed in with peachy neutrals and light colors to contrast. This Fall is sure to be a special one in the world of fashion, and we could not be more excited!

Long Sleeve Skaters

Skater dresses were super cute for Spring, held strong over the Summer, and have had the best update for Fall! Scoopneck longsleeve skater dresses are starting to hit the shelves and are perfect for more casual weddings. Dress it up with fancy jewelry to create a really dynamic contrast. You’ll look super on trend, stay warm, and be cute and comfortable out on the dancefloor!

Loose Lengthy Cardigans

If you’re heading somewhere not too sunny for the big day, grab a structured but loose cardigan to go over your dress. This especially works if you’re doing a dress that’s a little more tight or short. Pair the cardigan to contrast your dress so you don’t look too matchy-matchy. Aim for fitted sleeves so it doesn’t look too untailored. If it gets too warm, use it to mark where your chair and bag is while you’re dancing.

Large Clutches

Red carpets have been showing us a trend of large, envelope style clutches to pair with your outfit. This fall, grab a large one that you can fit your wallet, phone, keys, and back up beauty supplies in. Pick up this piece in a neutral color to pair with wedding outfits all season long!

Delicate Chains

This season we’re seeing a lot of this beautiful contrast of delicate and girly with rough and tough. Play this trend up with doing a delicate chain necklace. A light jewelry piece is girly and dainty, but the chain is edgy. Delicate pendants like arrows, anchors, or even a small gem create a beautiful look that is easy to pair with most wedding outfits. Bonus points if you can find a vintage piece as your something old!

Bad Girl Booties

If you’re intimidated by spending a day in stilettos, opt for some bad girl booties. This season we’ve been seeing lots of black, buckled booties paired with sweetheart dresses and girl outfits. Pick something you can really move in and can reuse for other outfits. Pick something that is pretty as a standalone (i.e., try it on with a skirt before you try it on with jeans) so you know they’ll still be dressy enough for a wedding.

Irvington Spring Farm Bridal Session

Bridal sessions is probably one of my favorite photograph sessions of all time. Well, maybe it ties in first place with wedding day photo sessions, but I just LOVE when bride has this moment all to herself. I mean what is not to like  about a session which features a bride, her bridal gown, all her pretty bridal accessories, and all set in a lovely location perfect for her? This bridal session is so pretty as photographer Foster and Asher, does a fantastic job in  capturing the most stunning  moments of this gorgeous bride.  Wait until you see the charming flower crown which compliments her dress in the most beautiful way.  I have to admit, I kind of want to steal that flower crown and make it my own. (but I will not of course!). Its that I love it so much, but it was definitely made for this bride, and this bride only.  Enjoy a little bit of bridal magic as you view the incredible images below.

From  Foster and Asher

Foster & Asher traveled to Irvington Spring Farm (one of our favorite flower vendors) to photograph a bridal portrait session with the beautiful Jeanne. The beautiful flower crown Jeanne is wearing was made by Jeanne Davies and is an assortment of Yarrow. We love these portrait session at Irvington Spring Farm because they give us extra time to capture the beauty of the bride. Often times we suggest to our brides that they consider a bridal portrait session AFTER they marriage. We have found that our brides are often much more comfortable during these shoots after the wedding.  We chose Irvington Spring Farm in Central, VA as our location for this shoot partially because of the beautiful early morning light, but mostly because of the gorgeous hand-manicured flower farm they maintain.

Top Five Trendy Shadow Shades for Fall Weddings

Fall is such a beautiful season, and people can get so caught up in staying in the same color palettes. Fall is a time all about beautiful complimentary colors. Don’t be afraid to show some shine on your eyelids at your next wedding- own it and look good doing it! Break out of the matte shades of the last few seasons and add a little dimension to your wedding look with these five color palettes!

Pretty in Pink

BHLEYES.jpg.jpg

If watermelon was your color palette of choice last summer, go for something similar this Fall. A peachy and neutral warm palette with gold flecks brings all out of your remaining summer glow. Light warm colors create a romantic look that’s cute and gentle without being overwhelming. It is lovely as much as it is natural, and is perfect for the sweetheart bride or bridesmaid.

Woodsy Woman

BHLEYES2.jpg.jpg

Want to warm up a neutral look? These basic neutrals are beautiful and gold based enough to blend with most skin tones. If you were doing golds all summer, this is the best Fall transition for you. Yellow-based neutrals are complimentary on so many skin tones and help give eyes a certain sparkle that can be hard to obtain. This color palette is so seamless, you could share it with the whole gang of bridesmaids! Just be sure to clean your brushes in between.

Deep Brunette

BHLEYES3.jpg.jpg

Brown tones are so fantastic for all skin tones and is optimized for Fall wear. If you want to do something smokier and sexier for a night wedding, play with deeper neutral tones to make your eyes look stronger. Use the deepest toned brown in the crease of your eye to create a more natural smokey look and be ready to catch the bouquet.

Royal Plum

BHLEYES4.jpg.jpg

Cranberry and plum tones with pieces of purple make green and brown eyes pop out like crazy and will make you look stunning in wedding photos. If brighter colors were your thing last summer, make this your wedding go-to look. If you keep the tones warm, you’ll still get that golden glow but with a deeper more sultry overall look. Pair with black on black eyeliner and mascara for a full on glamorous look.

Sliver of Silver

BHLEYES6.jpg.jpg

If you want to do more edgy looks for the wedding, go for something slate grey and silver. Something deep with flecks of shimmer makes your look pop, and is especially beautiful on darker skin tones. Keep it a little warmer to keep it from being too frosty (save that for Winter!). Since this is more cool-toned, be sure to pair it carefully with your lip and cheek colors. You’ll be the belle (or bride or bridesmaid!) of the ball!

Vancouver Canada Wedding

Packing our bags and heading to beautiful Vancouver, Canada for a lovely wedding featuring the prettiest of details.  It is times like these, that we really love our jobs as bridal bloggers. We get to experience the loveliest weddings even a thousand miles away.  This wedding has the most charming and personal details fit for this adorable couple. From the bride’s cowboy boots, the gorgeous florals, the fabulous doughnut bar, the darling table numbers, and most of all the lovely location. It all compliments each other so beautifully. We have to talk about the doughnut for a bit. Sorry, we are dessert lovers and when there are doughnuts, we can not help but stop and stare. What a fantastic idea right? And the display is so cute! This couple’s love for each other really shines through with the amazing images from Will Pursell Photography. There is a moment that the groom sees his bride for the first time, and that was the moment that we just died over here. What a romantic and touching moment, and all captured on camera. Oh my goodness, how sweet is that? Yes, as you can tell we love weddings and this wedding is no exception. Romantic and pretty. Enjoy !

From Will Pursell Photography

Natalie and Braden had a rustic country themed wedding in Vancouver, BC. The ceremony was at the Celebration Pavilion in Vancouver, BC, and the reception was at the beautiful and rustic Diamond Alumni Centre at SFU, Burnaby, BC. The portrait session was at the Burnaby Village Museum in Burnaby, BC. The Bride and Groom were both wearing cowboy boots and love country music. The Bride wore blue socks for “something blue” and a peach coloured stone necklace, and the groom had a peach tie to match. Her bridesmaids were all wearing different shades of purple and their groomsman partner wore a custom made tie to match their dress.

Top Five Trendy Nail Polishes for Fall Brides

So you’ve got a wedding coming up and you want to do something a little more fun than a French manicure, right? There are so many great colors that are hot right now for Fall that are much more fun than the classic white tips. Pair these with your bridesmaids dress and you’ll be all set to have fabulous fingers!

BHLNP1.jpg.jpg

Glowing Plum

If your go-to is a classic red color, then amp it up for Fall with a deeper, more purple-based plum red with flecks of glitter. We love red tones and golds because they look great on all skin tones and create a beautiful bronzing effect to the skin. Swipe on two coats and pair with a neutral toned dress to stand out, a warm toned dress to flow your look, or a cool toned dress to make your fingers pop.

BHLNPteAL.jpg.jpg

Minty Fresh

If you’re not over the mint craze, go back for more- it’s coming back around! Amp up the usual more neutral mint color with a tone that leans on the green so you have a fresher look. This pairs best with neutral tones to flow with a little flair, or with bold dark tones to really pop.

BHLNP3.jpg.jpg

Raspberry Beret

Deep plum tones are sultry and fantastic this fall- just be sure to pick one up with some dimension so it doesn’t look too bland on your fingertips. Take your purple-based red one step further and get a much deeper plum with some shimmer. This pairs with dark tones to create a mysterious look, neutrals for an adventurous look, and light tones for a bold outstated look.

BHLNP4.jpg.jpg

Sunkissed Neutral

Want something that would fun for a Saturday wedding but still office appropriate on Monday? Look for a pink neutral with hints of gold or yellow in it. Peachy tones are understated but the flecks of gold will pull all that tan you got over the summer out and give you a bridesmaid glow. The bride can’t have all the glow, afterall! Neutrals look fantastic with anything (they’re neutral for a reason!) and will be appropriate for as long as you wear them.

BHLNP5.jpg

Go for the Gold

Love the way the leaves change in Fall? Pair that with a beautiful gold tone. Go all out and pack on the gold- you’ll look like a million bucks! Neutrals and soft tones make this pop, while bold tones bring this out to look stronger. You’ll be the flashiest bridesmaid at the ball!

Anniversary Disneyland Photo Session

We are sprinkling a bit of Disney into the week with this super cute Anniversary photo session from one of our favorites, Jaime Davis Photography . We love Disneyland and everything Disney, so this session has us just tickled pink. . This adorable couple spends their day at the happiest place on earth, and what a magical way to celebrate one year of marriage.  It is not only cute, but very romantic. Disneyland is not just a place for kids or feeling like a kid. It is totally romantic and that is why we think its the perfect place to spend with your loved one. There is a magnificent castle, a lovely restaurant with hanging lanterns, a charming main street, and so many other romantic spots. We may love Disney details as we are Disneyland fans, but even if you are not, after you view the breathtaking images, we think you will become a fan. Next thing you know, you will be making plans to visit this magical land. Where all your dreams come true.

From  Jaime Davis Photography …

Lindsay and Nathan said I do a little over a year ago in a gorgeous garden themed wedding at the Newland House in Huntington Beach, California.  But now they are celebrating being married at the happiest place on earth. I LOVE Lindsay and Nathan to pieces and had a blast cruising around Disneyland with them capturing some memories as they celebrated their first wedding anniversary together. We even got to shot in front of the new Club 33 stained glass wooo hooo! I always love shooting at Disney!
