Wedding Styled Shoot at the Fairmont Newport Beach

I love my job.  Yep, its pretty hard not to complain when I get to look at pretty wedding details all day, and be inspired by brilliantly talented wedding vendors. Another part of my job that makes me smile is when I get the opportunity to be part of a styled shoot and work with some amazing talent. Today, I am proud to feature a wedding styled shoot that Perfectly Made Weddings, together with a group of fabulous vendors created for the gorgeous Fairmont Newport Beach located in Newport Beach, California.  Photographed by Elizabeth Burgi Photography, this venue styled shoot has all the elements of a classic and  modern wedding with a stylish venue as the backdrop.

The inspiration from Perfectly Made Weddings

Together with the Fairmont Newport Beach, we wanted to create a space which was simple, contemporary, and elegant  to compliment the bambú Room.  This room was transformed into a gorgeous reception space with all the modern and classic details. The amazing work of our fabulous vendors made this room really stand out on its own.  We loved working with all our vendors, and the fantastic talent they brought to the table. Of course, working with the Fairmont Newport Beach and their staff was remarkable and made this styled shoot a fun and amazing day.   Oh, and then you had the gal who made this wedding styled shoot come to life, and that is Elizabeth Burgi Photography who created  such lovely images. We are a bit obsessed over the gorgeous bridal gowns.  The floral gown looked absolutely stunning in the outdoor fountain and garden areas at the Fairmont Newport Beach. The dress is so fairytale and pretty! The reception dress is classic, stunning, and pairs up perfectly with the bambú Room.  All the elements of the styled shoot from the florals, linens, chairs, hair and makeup, gowns, and venue space came together beautifully.

About The Villa San Juan Capistrano

Warm. Inviting. Timeless. Exclusive. Historic.

The Villa San Juan Capistrano is brought to you by the innovative minds that created the Ramos House Café located in The Los Rios Historic District in Orange County.

The turn-of-the-century home was part of the Yorba family estate, built in 1918. The property has worn many hats over the years, such as: a board and batten house in the 1930s, where itinerant farmers from nearby orchards would spend the night; as well as an antique store/wedding facility, owned by Gep Durenberger in the 1960s until the early 2000s.

Today, the unique establishment has been renovated and restored by current owner, John Q. Humphreys, as a timeless event space.

Now in its fifth wedding season under Humphreys’ ownership, The Villa San Juan Capistrano provides unforgettable memories, complete with a romantic, garden atmosphere full of ancient fruit trees, all enhanced by gas lanterns, with historic buildings surrounding the stone courtyard where festivities take place.

The Villa San Juan Capistrano is equipped with a few of the industry’s finest vendors. Iva Lee’s is the property’s exclusive, full-service caterer, and handles food, beverage, and rental services. Divel Entertainment is the facility’s resident DJ, who also offers MC services with basic packaging. How Elite Valet Service is included in the venue rental, and is complimentary to guests on the day of the event. And lastly, The Villa San Juan Capistrano includes an onsite-day-of-coordinator to manage functions on the scheduled event date.

Step inside and feel the essence of time flourish around you and loved ones.

Top Five Winter Wedding Tips

Winter often gets overlooked when it comes to planning a wedding.  No, it’s not the most popular season but for the winter loving couple it just might the perfect time to say “I Do”.   Having some doubts about a winter wedding?  Don’t despair my beautiful brides-to-be before setting out on your planning journey, here are BHL’s top five tips for winter nuptials.

Candlelight:  Candles are perfect during the winter.  They give that rustic and inviting feel, and when used in large numbers provide comfort in any space.  The soft glow of candles is perfect for creating a romantic and intimate ceremony atmosphere.  Continue this feeling into the reception space by using candlelight as the main source of light during dinner.  Your guests will feel relaxed and at ease in the inviting glow.

Experiment with Color: Don’t feel obligated to choose the typical holiday colors.  Surprise your guests with an unexpected accent color in the flower arrangements or reception tables.  Remember flowers that are in season are cheaper, but also be mindful of holidays.  For example,  the price of roses skyrockets around Valentine’s Day.

Photography: The winter months are notorious for unpredictable weather.  That’s why it’s so important to pick multiple areas within your venue to take your pictures.  Pick an area that is indoors in case rain prevents you from taking photos outside.  Remember, after the time change the sun goes down much earlier than in the spring and summer months.  An earlier ceremony time might be the better choice if you want your photos taken before nightfall.

Always Have a Back Up Plan:   Save yourself some wedding day stress by having a back up plan for… almost everything. Back up plans for ceremony, photography, reception, etc.  It’s not likely you’ll have to use any of these plans but it’s nice to know that you have them… just in case.

Have Fun with the Season:  The best thing about winter is that there are so many holidays!  Christmas, New Year’s, Valentine’s Day and more!  Have some fun with the holidays and add seasonal details to your wedding.  Incorporate an eggnog cocktail closer to Christmas or heart accents as a nod to Valentine’s Day.  You can also create a winter wonderland by hanging crystals like icicles and plenty of greenery.

Follow these five helpful hints and winter wedding planning is not so scary after all!  Happy Planning!

Richard Nixon Library Wedding Open House

As my best friend’s maid of honor it is my duty to accompany her on the ever important venue search.  Lucky for me, her search for the perfect location has taken me to some pretty awesome places, most recently the Richard Nixon Library.   The Richard Nixon Library hosted a wedding open house for couples to get a chance to explore the unique venue. The open house showcased three spaces: a grand ballroom, smaller reception space and an outdoor ceremony space.

Upon entering the venue we were greeted with champagne and tantalizing appetizers from a variety of vendors.  My personal favorite was a mini grilled cheese over a tiny cup of tomato soup- very playful and fun for your guests.  As we moved into the smaller of the two rooms, we got to see some really creative favor tables and sampled some delicious cake creations.  I thought the favor tables were particularly  eye catching.  One embodied every girls pink fantasy with assorted pink candies and pink chocolate covered goodies.  The second was set in a nautical theme with blue goodies and starfish accents.

Our next stop was the grand ballroom.  The room was buzzing with people marveling at the different reception tables displayed by the vendors.  We moved through the tables taking notes on candle placements, flowers and flatware we liked. We also noted the two giant chandeliers that flooded the space with soft, romantic light.  The ballroom seemed quite presidential and rightly so!  It felt as if we were attending an event in the white house with all the classic furnishings, draping and the ornate fireplace.  The space was beautiful and with massive potential to dress it up for a wedding.

The ceremony space was outside on the lawn in between Nixon’s childhood house and the museum itself.  The garden is lined with palm trees and blooming white flowers which makes it very romantic and intimate.  The area feels secluded and peaceful, a perfect place for a wedding. We liked  the idea of having your wedding a historical place because it gives guests an opportunity to learn as they celebrate with you.  My favorite thing about this venue is that your guests can enjoy the museum while attending your wedding.  Talk about an awesome cocktail hour!

Our overall experience at the wedding open house was thoroughly enjoyable. We had a great time exploring the Richard Nixon Library, learning a few facts and  imagining the splendor of a wedding at this extraordinary venue! Nixon Library 3Nixon Library 14

The Mission Inn Bridal Boutique Recap

Bridal Hot List recently attended the Bridal Boutique hosted by the beautiful and historic Mission Inn located in Riverside, California.  The fabulous hotel put on a grand boutique featuring various reception locations and their picturesque chapel.  Each room was decorated by a different vendor and offered multiple selections in decor, cake, music, attire and everything in between!

The first stop was the Music Room which offered the grandest decor.  The hall was elaborately adorned in gold while the tables were set with blue accents and white bouquet centerpieces.  In the middle of the hall,  a wedding gown with a corset as sparkly and grand as the hall itself commanded the attention of all who entered.

Next we were off to the Spanish Art Gallery.  This reception room was smaller and decorated in gold with black accents.  The centerpieces were black candelabras dripping in crystals, just divine!

We then traveled to the courtyard where we mingled with a mock bride and groom, styled in a classic tux and lace gown.  Also present, Casey’s cupcakes – the resident bakery and Cupcake Wars winner.  Trust me when I say they live up to the title!

In the afternoon it was time for a mock ceremony in the St. Francis Chapel.  A string/ piano trio played traditional wedding themes as the faux bride and groom exchanged quick vows.  It provided an inspiring glimpse of the romantic and intimate potential of this ceremony venue.

The next two reception rooms were the smallest and each provided a different atmosphere.  The first definitely gave off the party vibe with light projections on the walls, loud music on a central dance floor and a photo booth that was begging to be tried!  The next stop gave us more of an elegant feel.  The room was full of flowers which made it smell delicious and the colors were soft and pastel.  Both were beautiful.

The final stop, and my favorite was a trip to the hotel’s private Spa.  We received a guided tour of the tranquil facility and learned about pre-wedding day packages for the bridal party and the newlyweds.  To top it off, we all got complimentary chair massages!  It was the perfect way to end a day of wedding fun.

Our over all experience at the Mission Inn was absolutely inspiring.  We saw scores of beautiful flower arrangements and bridal fashions.  Our taste buds were excited by treats from multiple bakeries and we fantasized about spending the day at the luxurious Spa.  The Mission Inn is one of those places that can inspire wedding day dreams even if they are in the distant future.  I recommend that any future bride visit a wedding boutique to find inspiration for your special day.
