South Carolina Farm Wedding by Matthew Druin Photography

Destination? A lovely farm in South Carolina. A location with beautiful mother nature surrounding their wedding day.  I may be a city girl, but I have to admit, I do love myself a farm style wedding in the countryside. I am gushing over all the pretty details of the vast greenery and a couple who looks darn good in it. Matthew Druin Photography was there to capture all the gorgeous images from this destination Farm wedding.  Enjoy a little bit of country loving!

Alex played it off with a casual, hi, but Rachel knew he was secretly laughing at her. He must have found her graceful bike abilities attractive, because when they found out they were both in the same masters program, they started dating right away. Their whirlwind love continued and they spent a lot of time traveling, arguing about football, and jamming out to Kid Cudi until one day isolated deep in the mountains, Alex asked Rachel to be his wife. Rachel and Alex planned a beautiful destination wedding that perfectly fit their love affair for travel and nature. Snuggled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains is one of my all time favorite venues, Chattooga Belle Farm.  Days before and leading up to the big day, weather forecasters called for 100% chance of rain. For Rachel and Alex, that was not a problem. They embraced the rain for their outdoor wedding and came prepared with tons of umbrellas and boots. The rain and ominous clouds continued as Rachel and Alex began to get ready for their big day only doors down from one another at a semi-local hotel. After getting ready everyone made their way to the vineyard in preparation for the ceremony. As the guests began to arrive, Rachel got into her gorgeous dress with a slight tear of joy, and help from her family and bridesmaids. Alex and the groomsmen made their way to the alter and the ceremony started. As Alex came to a stop at the front of the ceremony, the rain stopped and the sun peeked a few rays through the dark sky. Rachel made her way to the front with her father to greet Alex. A few family and friends came forward to say their blessings and then the officiant began with his prayer. With an exchanging of rings, a few tears, and a passionate kiss, Rachel and Alex were pronounced husband and wife. Once the ceremony was over, we started right into portraits. Not being discouraged by the wet and occasionally muddy vineyard we took full advantage of the incredible scenery. We made our way around the farm through the tall grass filled fields and vineyards. The sun started to shine stronger and the sky created an amazing complement. Although we all came back slightly wet, it was fully worth it.

Alex and Rachel were introduced and had their first dance before everyone dug in to the tasty buffet. Since both Rachel and Alex enjoy great craft brewed beer, plenty was supplied. Since Rachel is originally from Atlanta, Sweetwater was the featured choice of beer.
Griff’s Room Band kicked off the reception and did an amazing job entertaining the guests while they enjoyed the warm sun, great conversations, and showed off some fancy dancing. Rachel and Alex made their exit into the vineyard with soft bubbles floating carelessly in the air.   Vendors: Photography: Matthew Druin Photography Venue: Chattooga Belle Farm

I was so excited to photograph Ashley & Corey’s wedding at Bennetts Orchard. It was like a real dream come true wedding! The venue was absolutely gorgeous and the details for this wedding was amazing!
I asked the Bride and Groom to answer some questions about their Wedding day. Here is what they had to say:

What was the flavor of your cake? Our personal cake was white, but we had many others! We had several different flavors of cheesecake, cookies & cupcakes!

What was the most memorable moment of your Wedding day?
 Bride: Walking down the aisle!
Groom: Ashley walking through the doors to come meet me down the aisle.

What was the Funniest memory from your wedding day?
Bride: Corey’s moves when he was taking off the garter.
Groom: Cutting & smashing the cake!

Special moments you will never forget from your Wedding Day?
Bride: Riding up to the ceremony in the carriage and walking through the doors & down the aisle to see my groom! Also, just spending the day with all of the important people in our lives!
Groom: Seeing Ashley, walking into the reception together and spinning my bride around!

What was your favorite detail you did for your wedding?
Bride: The whole ceremony- it was like a fairy tale!
Groom: The ceremony setting- the tree we chose to get married in front of, etc.

Rustic Urban SmogShoppe Los Angeles Wedding

When it comes to a DIY wedding, it is not so easy. It takes blood, sweat, tears, and whole lot of love and energy infused into each and every detail. It can be fabulous or look like a craft project. But I have to tell you, this rustic urban wedding is no craft project. Oh no. This wedding is absolutely stunning. And all beautifully designed by the couple.   From the Marigold and Grey color scheme, the ridiculously gorgeous table settings, and the lovely escort cards, this is a true handmade wedding. It is all about showing the love you have for each other through the amazing details. When you have a lovely DIY wedding combined with an incredible photographer like Michael Segal Photography, then it is a pretty stellar wedding.  When the first image from this rustic urban wedding  popped up on my computer screen, within a nano second, I knew I wanted to feature this wedding. With each and every image that followed, my mouth dropped so hard, I had to force it shut! I could not believe the images I was viewing.  Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to browse through the stunning photos of this lovely affair.

From the Grooms, Joe & Sunny…

We wanted our wedding style to reflect our personalities and cultures. Our ceremony had a mix of Western and Indian traditions. We had a gospel choir to reflect Joe’s Christian upbringing and faith. We exchanged jai malas (flower garlands) to include Indian wedding customs since Sunny is Indian. We all walked out to the choir singing, “Seasons of Love” from Rent.

We chose a rustic urban theme and that’s why we chose SmogShoppe because it wasn’t your typical wedding venue and reflected our style. We also did a lot of DIY stuff, such as our escort cards and table settings. We worked hand in hand with our florist, Twig & Twine and we were able to find vintage hobnob vases for the centerpieces that guests were able to take home. We also found awesome vintage letter light up marquees that added a great personal touch to our reception.

We had a cocktail hour with a blue grass band and we served mac and cheese balls, samosas and vegan sliders. One of our favorite bands is Pink Martini, so we made sure there were plenty martinis during cocktail hour. In addition we had three other speciality drinks – Tipsy Arnold Palmer, Sita Margarita and the Bees Knees. Food is a big part of our lives, vegetarian food in particular. We had Cashew Creme Lasagna, Potatoes Au Gratin, Vegan Celebration Loaf, Quinoa Alfresco Greens with peaches and almonds. Not to exclude our carnivore friends, we had Boneless Apricot Rosemary Chicken with mango salsa. Our cake was 3 layered with strawberry, lemon and coconut flavors.

We really valued all our friends and guests presence at our wedding and didn’t want anyone to feel left out at the dinner table, so we set our tables as long picnic tables (in addition to the head table) where everyone sat close to each other and ate as one big family. We also had a surprise dinner performance by a local Bollywood Troupe that mixed together some fun Bollywood songs.

Our first dance was a mashup of Adele’s rendition of “Make you feel my love” and Gossip’s, “Men in Love”. This really got the crowd to the dance floor and they stayed there all night! We stayed away from the perennial wedding favorites like the chicken dance etc. we really collaborated with our DJ to come up with a list that reflected our eclectic taste in music. We had booked an ice cream cart and weren’t sure if it would be too much food, but in the end it was a good decision because it was one of the hottest days of the year! So with all the dancing, it was a nice touch.

Top Seven Unique Thanksgiving Wedding Ideas

Thanksgiving is a time to gather together with family and friends and celebrate the things we are most thankful for. Oh, and, of course, stuff ourselves silly with delicious food! It makes complete sense then that so many couples are deciding to get married around Thanksgiving. These top seven tips will ensure that your wedding day is classy and beautiful, and not something that resembles an elementary Thanksgiving Day pageant parade. No Pilgrim hats and feathered headbands, please!

Invites and Save the Dates

One of the most important things to keep in mind when planning a holiday-centric wedding is that many friends will want to spend the holiday with their own families. The way to overcome this is to send our your Save the Dates as soon as you possibly can! Thanksgiving weddings, though, do offer the additional bonus of most of your guests already having time off of work for the holiday.

Location

Thanksgiving is the epitome of autumnal beauty, so choosing either an outside venue—or a venue that can give you plenty of gorgeous fall landscapes—is the way to go. The rich fall colors, the bounty of fallen leaves, and the forgiving temperatures of fall, all make for a perfect outdoor wedding.

http://www.weddingomania.com/

Décor

Let nature dictate the décor for your ceremony and reception! Think of woodsy and rustic themes, allowing yourself to be inspired by trees, feathers, bird’s nests, and fallen leaves. Stay away from cheap Thanksgiving decorations: no miniature cornucopias or turkey designs cut out of construction paper. Evoke the meaning of the season by placing decorative and rustic chalkboards around the venue, allowing people to write down what they are most thankful for. If you are opting for an outdoor wedding, have the chalkboards perched in the middle of the tables. You want your ceremony and reception to look easeful and natural, almost as if it’s an enchanted autumnal forest. Having an elaborately decorated and stuffy reception just doesn’t suit the meaning of Thanksgiving.

Food

Food is the highlight of Thanksgiving, so make sure that your food is the highlight of your reception! You can always choose a more traditional Thanksgiving meal to serve your guests, or, if you’re concerned that your guests will already have had their fill of turkey from their own Thanksgiving celebrations, you can always serve traditional family dishes with a twist—Gruyere mac and cheese with bacon, apple stuffed pork chops, bourbon chocolate pecan pie, etc. Garnish your wedding cake with a few autumnal touches, and place it atop a tree stump cake stand.

Flowers

Don’t be afraid to branch out (pun intended) from using exclusively flowers in your bouquet or centerpieces. Acorns, branches, and fall leaves can all make gorgeous additions to any flower arrangement.

Dress

Keep your dress classic and easeful. Thanksgiving is about the comfort of being with family, friends, and food! An overly embroidered and corseted gown will clash with your themes of nature and ease.

Favors

Favors should always be edible or useful, and since it is Thanksgiving, edible is the way to go! Miniature pies, bottles of maple syrup, maple candy, and miniature bottles of pumpkin ale all make for festive favors that your guests will surely appreciate.

TLC’s Four Weddings Winning Bride: Season Premiere

Good morning weekenders! It is nice to have TLC’s “Four Weddings” back on our weekends, isn’t it? I think so. It totally makes me want to jump out of bed and talk about the winner from the season premiere. Yep, I am pretty excited. The winning bride from Thursday’s episode is Chantall! Congrats to this bride and all her gorgeous planning. Her Southern vintage wedding scored her a total of 90 points out of 120 points. Here is the breakdown.

Venue: 23 points
Dress:  22 points
Experience: 23 points
Food: 22 points

TLC

The other three brides really liked the venue the best, as she scored the highest in this category. The venue was at an old Plantation. The ceremony took place under the oldest tree on the property. The venue really sets the scene for the wedding, and this venue totally complimented Chantall’s vintage elegant theme. All the gorgeous details of the old world charm was evident in this venue. The perfect place for this bride and her groom. Nice choice Chantall! I really loved this venue as well. The barn where the reception took place was so rustic and all the beautiful flowers and vintage touches came together so well. A lovely space for such an elegant affair. I live for vintage, so when I saw this venue and all the decor, I was in complete love.

Congrats to Chantall for winning an all expenses paid honeymoon. After all the planning of her romantic and elegant vintage wedding, together with her husband, she is ready to pack her bags, and journey to a place of relaxation and luxury. Sounds like a great time. Enjoy Chantall, you deserve it!

Country Chic Engagement Session from Happy Photos

I don’t know what I am more obsessed with. The fact that this engagement session took place in my college town, or this adorable couple who is so obviously in love, it is not even funny. After spending half my morning deciding which images to share with you all, I was instantly hooked and fell in love with their country style, and complete and utter love they share with each other. Oh, I am totally in love with the red barn too. It is so rustic and charming. Enjoy the amazing photos captured by Happy Photos.

From Happy Photos…

Lauren and Mike love their hometown of Southern Orange County, so they wanted to go rustic and country to compliment their country chic wedding theme.  The location for their engagement photos took place at the open fields and farms of University of California, Irvine. The 100 year old red barn was the perfect backdrop for this couple.  They are a fun loving couple who love the outdoors.  Lauren is a SoCal girl with a country heart! I really enjoyed the time spent with such a fabulous couple.

From the bride…

March 23rd, 2012 was the day I married my soul companion.  March 23rd, 2012 was the day we bound our souls to one another, to soar through our lives together, palms embraced, hearts entwined, eyes as one unto the same vision.  Sitting next to one another on that morning, with toast in our mouths and smiles on our lips, we were calmer than we had been and waited with bated breath for the day to unfurl itself into the manifestation of our conjoined love.  We couldn’t have been happier as we embraced the intimacy of the day.  We carefully selected those that were dear to us to share in the sacredness of the day in a ceremony of just short of 65 people.  The venue spoke to me when Bobby took me there on a date 6 months earlier, from the hanging bee baskets laced with fairy lights to the majestic nature of the grounds. We moved away from “tradition” and felt incredibly honoured that our sister-in-law, Lindsay, made a series of organic vegan gluten-free cheesecakes for us and our guests which was nothing short of utterly divine, a slice of heaven on such a special day!  We felt blessed that she and our brother Kia put so much hard effort into baking, which kept them up until the wee hours of the wedding day, putting on the finishing touches.  Hand-making all the details, from the carefully drawn and sewn wedding invites to the specially selected blend of tea we encased in bird love burlap for each of our guests, we put nothing short of complete love into a day that will remain in our hearts forever.  It made both Bobby and I proud to stand before our parents and show them that we were ready to walk this next journey of life together, united and secure in our belief in one another .
