Malibu Wedding at Calamigos Ranch from Michael Segal Weddings

With Valentine’s day just a few days away, we’re getting a little giddy here at BHL. So we are dedicating a whole week to LOVE! Every day we are immersed with all things inspiring, pretty, and lovely. But this week we wanted to really  jump into a bucket of pure love and start things right. There is nothing more romantic than a sweet and simple vintage chic meets rustic DIY wedding. Get ready to not only meet a couple of adroable sweethearts, but to fall utterly in love with all the charming details that decorated their big day. Our DIY, rustic loving hearts can not get enough of it.  This wedding is absolutely gorgeous and has so many sweet and simple details that it is nothing short of perfection. We are in love with the hand-made invitations to the beautifully decorated table settings. We absolutely adore the bride and groom. The bride is so stunning showing off her cute pink bow heels, and the groom totally rocking the pink bow tie. Michael Segal Weddings was on hand to capture each and every detail.

From the bride…

March 23rd, 2012 was the day I married my soul companion.  March 23rd, 2012 was the day we bound our souls to one another, to soar through our lives together, palms embraced, hearts entwined, eyes as one unto the same vision.  Sitting next to one another on that morning, with toast in our mouths and smiles on our lips, we were calmer than we had been and waited with bated breath for the day to unfurl itself into the manifestation of our conjoined love.  We couldn’t have been happier as we embraced the intimacy of the day.  We carefully selected those that were dear to us to share in the sacredness of the day in a ceremony of just short of 65 people.  The venue spoke to me when Bobby took me there on a date 6 months earlier, from the hanging bee baskets laced with fairy lights to the majestic nature of the grounds. We moved away from “tradition” and felt incredibly honoured that our sister-in-law, Lindsay, made a series of organic vegan gluten-free cheesecakes for us and our guests which was nothing short of utterly divine, a slice of heaven on such a special day!  We felt blessed that she and our brother Kia put so much hard effort into baking, which kept them up until the wee hours of the wedding day, putting on the finishing touches.  Hand-making all the details, from the carefully drawn and sewn wedding invites to the specially selected blend of tea we encased in bird love burlap for each of our guests, we put nothing short of complete love into a day that will remain in our hearts forever.  It made both Bobby and I proud to stand before our parents and show them that we were ready to walk this next journey of life together, united and secure in our belief in one another .

Roswell Wedding from Famous William Photography

All I have to say about this wedding is: DIY, GORGEOUS, and SWEET. I am amazed by all the incredible personal touches that this couple brought to their wedding. It is fun, full of joy, and style savvy. I have to admit, I want to shrink myself to a two dimensional version of myself and live in these photos. Which by the way, were all beautifully captured by Famous William Photography.

From Famous William Photography…

Meet Katie and David. Their wedding venue was Roswell River Landing. They had a wedding theme of “Garden Party” and their colors were blue and yellow. The majority of their wedding was entirely DIY. For example: They provided all of the decorations. Katie cut the flowers from their own garden, she made the boutonnieres for the men, she did her own hair and make up, and she also made her jewelry (necklace and earrings).  Katie told us,”We tried to either make or find (in second hand or vintage shops) our wedding details – the rest were family or personal mementos we have collected from trips. We wanted everything to feel personal and this is what helped us achieve that goal!” – Not only was their wedding decorating details done by them, but David made their wedding bands out of wood, and they’re beautiful!! In addition to this, Katie’s engagement ring didn’t contain a diamond. Instead, it contained moissanite, which is only found in tiny amounts on the surface of meteorites. It was designed by “Down to the Wire Designs”. Beautiful!
