Brides and their bridal gown findings? Yes please! We love this show, and can not wait to grab our favorite snack and enjoy this amazing show!

If you are a SBSN (SOMETHING BORROWED, SOMETHING NEW) newbie, then let us tell you a little bit about this amazing show. This show follows a bride’s journey to find the perfect wedding dress for her big day. However there is a twist!  The bride will have to choose a new designer bridal gown, or a fashionably redesigned family heirloom. Who will help the bride find something new and something borrowed for her special day? Each episode is hosted by designer Kelly Nishimoto and stylist Sam Saboura, who will work with the bride to help choose between two dress options. Kelly will turn a special, previously worn gown into a gown which is for the time, venue, and personality of the bride. The bride will also have a chance to work with Sam in shopping at a bridal salon to find a brand new stylish dress. What happens next? The bride will have to make a very important decision and choose between a one-of-a kind dress and a newly fashionable piece. Will the bride choose her mother’s wedding gown, or find something new and unique to her? Which one will the bride choose?

Tonight’s first episode features a curvy bride to be, Audrey who has been very self-conscious to try any wedding dresses on. She is having a Candy-land style wedding and is looking for a dress that has a crazy styled skirt.  She does not have much confidence with her mother’s 80’s wedding gown. So will Audrey find the wedding gown that reflects who she is ? Will it be something new that Sam finds her, or will she walk down the aisle with mom’s 80’s re-designed gown that Kelly creates?

Who are the Brides?:

  • Diana is the first to wed as she starts her wedding day with a ceremony set outside on a gorgeous lawn at an art center. The backdrop  is lush greenery with a few red colored decorations at the alter. The color red is used to represent the groom’s Chinese culture. The bride walks down on her own, as she holds a cascading floral bouquet. . The bride and groom’s cultures are incorporated into the ceremony. After they kiss as husband and wife, they are ready to celebrate with their guests. The guests make their way to the art center’s lawn for cocktail hour. During the cocktail hour, a sideshow performer entertained guests with some dangerous acts such as swallowing fire, and walking on glass. Following the show, guests enter inside for the reception. The guest tables were named by countries, and boarding passes as the escort cards. The reception decor was blue and yellow colored details,  and each table featured country flags that represented the bride or groom’s background. The dance floor was full of energy and fun.
  • Nicole’s  hardcore purple wedding day begins with some rain, so the ceremony takes place under a white tent. The aisle is decorated with purple rose petals, and hanging mason jars filled with purple flowers. After a fun and lovely ceremony, guests remained in the same space for cocktail hour. Inside the reception space guests pick up their “peas in a pod” escort cards and head to their tables. The reception features stunning chandeliers,  purple uplighting, purple linens, and purple lit centerpieces. Following dinner and dessert, some guests  got on the dance floor and did the polka dance.
  • Melea is ready to take the next step of her road trip and marry the love of her life. The wedding is set at a country club. The ceremony space featured white chairs, red rose petals down the aisle, and red ribbons tied to the chairs. After a heartfelt ceremony where the two shared their own vows, guests head over to the cocktail hour. Cocktail hour features personally food which the couple’s chef taste buds picked out. The reception space is white and red colored decor. White table linens, white chair covers with red sashes, and the centerpiece is red roses surrounded by candles. The wedding cake is a three tiered white cake with red colors and details of the couple’s travels from the West Coast to the East Coast. Following dinner, dancing is all about fun and high energy.
  • Leila is ready to sparkle and shine on her wedding day. Her big day is set in a grand hall with many gorgeous details. The ceremony is a large space with some purple lighting, tall  rhinestone decorated candles lining the aisle, and a arch decorated with white and purple flowers and crystals hanging down. After saying their “I do’s”, the couple makes their exit, while guest head to the cocktail hour. The cocktail hour is full of food, including sushi, clams, fajitas, noodles, and more. You name it, and it is there. The signature drink is a Key Lime Pie Martini with a graham cracker rim. The reception space is a circular room with a huge dome in the center with light shining through it. The reception also features another “cool” detail. The bar was made out of ice. All ice. The night sparkles with dancing, lights, and a party vibe.

A Hot Detail:  There was one detail from each wedding that stood out for me. I really loved Diana’s beautiful flower crown. It not only represented her Ukrainian culture, but it was such a gorgeous accessory complimenting her dress. She looked whimsical and very romantic. I could not stop looking at that flower crown, it was simply stunning!    So I have to say I absolutely LOVED the dessert bar at Nicole’s wedding. I love my desserts, and when there is more than wedding cake at a wedding, I am set. Talking about candy, homemade chocolate chip cookies, lemon bars, and more! Yum!  I loved the table numbers at  Melea’s wedding. They were state license plates from all the states that she and Lisa had traveled through together. The theme of road trip romance really showed here. What a personal and lovely detail!  So, this is a first, but I also loved the dessert bar at Leila’s wedding. Yep, thats how much I love desserts and sweets. This dessert bar consists of  a chocolate fondue machine, milk shakes, and more! It was a full of yummy treats!

Who won?: Congrats to Leila for winning!  She and her husband won an all expenses paid honeymoon to Hawaii.   I was not surprised at all about Leila winning.  She was the last bride to show off her wedding, and I had not really thought any of the other weddings had that “wow” factor. So once I saw Leila’s I just knew she was the winning bride.   While I can not account for the food since I wasn’t actually there, all the other details – venue,  bride’s dress, and originality – really complimented Leila’s wedding theme.  The sparkle and glam was seen in all the details from the ceremony to her wedding cake. Well done Leila!  So how did the other three brides score? Melea came in second, Diana in third, and Nicole in fourth. Were you surprised by the results?  Love to hear from you, so please share!TLC
