Tuxedo Styles and Trends from Friar Tux Shop

As much as we love the weekends and so sad to see it end, we get all hyped up when we know that weddings and trends are on our agenda on this lovely Monday morning. At BHL, we are always seeking the hottest and most current trends in all things wedding. The trend that we are so excited about is all about the groom and his groomsmen. We want our men to look dapper and wedding ready right? We know our brides will look as gorgeous as can be, but the men? The groom? His entourage for the wedding day? Well, we want him to look as handsome as can be for his beautiful bride. What is hot and trending in menswear for the men of the wedding?

We asked our friend Eric Acuña, district Manger at Friar Tux Shop, to share with us what the hottest trends are for the groom and his men:

Everyone is looking to customize their wedding. From linens to flowers, everyone wants that “unique look.” When it comes to wedding attire, there’s a bigger urge to wear something “different from the rest.”

Current trends lean towards slim fit tuxedos and suits. Light and Charcoal Grey are the most sought out colors for 2013. Many brides who Google or Pintrest words like, “Vintage” “Rustic” and “Chic,” are finding grey tuxedos and suits at the top of their searches.

How can brides and grooms create their unique look? By visiting Friar Tux Shop. Friar Tux offers over 50 styles of tuxedos and suits in all colors and fits. They carry all the classic colors, along with six shades of grey, six shades of tan/chocolate, and plenty of slim fit styles. You can choose to rent or buy. With many options to mix and match, every groom has the option to create his own look.

The “unique” options are available through their many vest and tie styles. Many of their colored coats have matching vests, which is a home run for the bride looking for the “vintage” look. Self-tie ties, are offered in an array of colors for the groom who wants to tie his own knot. Many grooms are seeking out special knots to wear on their big day! Here’s a few knots most popularly tied by grooms for 2013.

  • Eldredge Knot Inverted

  • Trinity Knot

Colored vests with coordinating ties are available to match all major bridal and bridesmaid dresses. In every style, each vest has multiple tie options (bow tie, solid long tie, diamond printed tie, stripped tie, and/or paisley tie.) Each wedding can create their own look and style. Friar Tux Shop even carries bow ties for purchase that allow you to tie your own bow. This is a huge trend for 2013.

“What’s that napkin called in the pocket of a tuxedo or suit?” Brides and Grooms ask this question everyday. It’s called a “Pocket Square.” Pocket squares are used to enhance and provide a “finished” look for a groom and his groomsmen. Just another way for a bride and groom to customize their look for their special day.

  •  Matching vest, tie, and pocket square.

  •  Neutral colors with a colored pocket square.

Expressionary Events Features Bridal Hot List in a Video Interview

I have some exciting news that I can not wait to share with all of you on this lovely Monday morning. It is so fabulous, that you better sit down for this one. So grab your morning coffee, get comfy, and ready for some pretty amazing information.  Bridal Hot List had their first interview! I had the pleasure to be interviewed by the very talented Wedding Planner and Designer, Carmen Fuentes of Expressionary Events for Expression Spotlight. What an exciting moment for BHL. As chief editor of Bridal Hot List, I shared who we are, what we do, and what type of wedding details we feature on the blog.  I shared how we are not your typical wedding blog, and that we are THE resource for today’s bride, providing the hottest trends and tips. What got my heart bursting with joy was talking about the two (now three) TLC television shows we cover: TLC’s “Four Weddings” and “Something Borrowed, Something New” (added to the list is “I Found the Gown”). What was really great is when I shared some of the pretty exciting moments I have had at BHL. For example,  I had the wonderful opporunity in meeting top stylist, Sam Saboura, and fashion designer Kelly Nishimoto from ” Something Borrowed, Something New”. THAT was amazing because they provided me with some incredible wedding tips and trends. An interesting fact that I spoke of was that not all our readers are brides…we actually have grooms who are really intrigued by the tips and trends we provide. That is something that has motivated us to write more for the grooms. I mean, they are the other piece to the lovely duo of a wedding couple.

What really fills my heart with joy is the chance to share what I truly love and have a passion for. I love my job! How many people can say that? There are so many reasons and to name a few…I am constantly immersed in beautiful weddings, gorgeous inspirations, all the crazy talented people, and making some amazing connections with all of you. The brides and grooms, and wedding junkies are driving this wedding blog which I am so proud of.

I like to say a big THANK YOU to Carmen Fuentes for this truly amazing opportunity!

Top Five Bridal Makeup Trends

Makeup is essential for your wedding day! Your photos will turn out even more gorgeous! Whether you normally wear makeup or not, you will need to find the right look.  What look will you go for? Want to find out what the hottest makeup trends are?

We asked make-up expert, Gina Ludwig who is the director and owner of Hair Comes the Bride to tell us. Ready to find out whats hot?

  • Vintage Inspired: Vintage inspiration is everywhere!  When doing a vintage look, add modern elements so your look doesn’t end up looking like a costume. Just beautiful!
  • Fresh Face with Bright Lip: If you are going to wear a dark, deep or bright lip, make sure and keep the rest of your makeup fresh and clean. I love this look!

  • Lots of Lashes: This is what we call the Kim Kardashian look.  For a more natural look, use individual lashes, and for a more dramatic look, go for the strips. Check out these fabulous lashes!

  • Earthy Metallics: Metallic eyeshadow is hot,  but stick to earthy tones such as gold, copper and bronze for an organic yet modern look. Stunning!

  • Smokey Eyes: Smokey eyes are still the hottest makeup look right now.  Just remember to stick to deep earth tones as opposed to blacks or grays for a more timeless “bridal” appropriate look. This look is hot!
