Wedding Wednesday: Same Sex Wedding by Great Officiants

On this fabulous Wedding Wednesday, I am thrilled to share an incredible milestone in California.  Two weeks ago on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, The Defense of Marriage Act was found to be unconstitutional. Meaning, the law barring the federal government from recognizing same-sex marriages legalized by the states, is unconstitutional. Many had been standing by eagerly waiting for these results. When the results came in,  cheers of victory were heard all around. What a perfect day for this to occur! Wedding Wednesday never looked better. On today’s Wedding Wednesday I wanted to share something very special.  One of the many couples who have been long waiting for this very important decision, finally had the chance to legally marry. This couple had been waiting for thirteen years to stand in front of their friends and family, and share their love. You can imagine the joy and happiness when the results came in. Pure excitement. It makes me happy when two people who love each other can now become married in the state of California. Great news indeed.  Four hours after the decision, this couple was legally married. They were married by Alan Katz of Great Officiants in Long Beach, California.  So in love, that they could not wait to finally be married.

Here is a video of their story:

On Wednesday, June 26, 2013 Toni and Carol were legally married.  Happiness, joy, laughter, and all other adjectives describing a good time.  Congrats to the lovely couple! I am totally smiling right now. Yep, smiling from ear to ear. Ah, what a wonderful day indeed. My wedding loving heart is overjoyed and in full gear. Nothing but love here. Wedding Wednesday is amazing! Totally in love.

The best way to add a bit more inspiration to the week? It is all about the California outdoors infused with rustic details and a touch of elegance. Sounds pretty amazing to me.  I have to admit I am kind of obsessed with picnics. I am just head over heels in love.  This stunning rustic chic styled photo shoot most certainly delivers the most beautiful, and lovely of details. All gorgeously delivered by the ever so talented Carmen at Expressionary Events.  The images? Can you say swoon? Total swoon moment for me. This breathtaking photo shoot, captured entirely by the fabulous Jaime Davis Photography. There are so many pretty details that are competing for my love. I mean, the gorgeous blooms, the fabulous cake, the orange trees, and the sweet couple adorned with the loveliest of details. I can go on and on about this shoot, but I think it is time for you to take a peek and see what I am so obsessed about.

From Carmen of Expressionary Events

The idea and inspiration came from the designers’ love for the outdoors and romantic picnics. There is a certain allure and serenity of being in the outdoors among the trees and nature. We choose Rancho Las Lomas, a beautiful garden venue that is surrounded by citrus trees, stunning architecture, and exotic wildlife. This venue provides couples with plenty of opportunities to incorporate a rustic chic feel at every corner of the property. The concept was to create a whimsical yet rustic style wedding for brides that want to have a more causal and intimate wedding but may not know how to accomplish the look or feel.

Elements included in the shoot:

  • Different floral patterns as well as wood elements were chosen to complement the outdoor elements in the shoot.
  • Color palette: The main color palette for the shoot consisted of jewel tones such as pink, purples and ivory
  • Bride fashion & jewelry: For the bride, we chose a dress that really tied in the theme all together. The sweetheart neckline and tulle gown made the look very whimsical. Small lace and beaded embellishments creating a romantic feel.
  • Bride  Jewelry:  We kept the look simple with a tear drop necklace, and matching bracelets. The statement piece was the gorgeous Grecian inspired headpiece by AlwaysAri.
  • Grooms Fashion: We kept the Groom very casual in khaki pants,a plaid dress shirt, and suspenders with a faux leather bow tie made by AlwaysAri to complement the ‘Rustic Picnic Theme. Keeping the tie into the romantic elements
  • Bride hair & make-up: The Bride’s makeup was done really soft with pinks and pastels to create a very natural yet whimsical feel. Her hair was half up half down with multiple braids to create the very outdoor and natural look with relaxed curls. Her hair was finished off with a Grecian headpiece fit for any bride looking to make a statement on her wedding day.
  • Flowers & event décor: For the table scape gray and white toned linen was used to blend nicely with the trunk like vase that held jewel toned flowers of pinks and purples. Bamboo place mats were placed underneath a ivory plate and special silverware with garden engraved pictures finished off the table décor. Wine and berries were incorporated to bring in elements of a rustic picnic wedding.
  • Cake: The cake was decorated with rosettes and floral to complement the theme. The cake sat on a special designed cake stand made out of wood and milk glass.  The table was adorned with a knife and server decorated with the same designs as the silverware on the table.

We want couples to get concepts from this shoot and be able to create it for their wedding day. Simply by choosing key statement pieces such as a headpiece or bamboo place mats can really make a difference in make something come to life at your event. Picnics are simple but with the right decor you can always bring elegance to anything.

300th Post – A Retrospective of Bridal Hot List

On behalf of Niloufar and the entire roster of talented writers at Bridal Hot List, we’d like to thank our readers for continually checking in with the hottest growing blog about the bridal industry on the internet. For those of you that don’t know, this site is the brainchild of popular Orange County Wedding Coordinator Niloufar Gibson. While there are a ton of great blogs about weddings out there, nobody would ever focus on the latest and greatest tips for brides and weddings. While most would focus on general information that was fairly helpful, Niloufar’s goal was to create a site where brides and other coordinators could read about the very latest trends.

It’s almost been a year since Bridal Hot List debuted and the site continues to grow leaps and bounds. The staff’s efforts have led to wonderful relationships with national brands such as TLC and Nordstrom, making the way for incredible features exclusively posted here about the latest trends in the industry. As the site continues to grow, more of these relationships will manifest, resulting in more amazing content to be featured here each and every day.

That brings up another great aspect about the site that is a testament to Niloufar’s dedication. Ever since the site launched, a new story has appeared every single day at BridalHotlist.com for readers to enjoy. To do that, it’s taken a lot of hard work, commitment and creativity which are all traits that Niloufar and the entire BHL team has shown day in and day out. On behalf of myself and the entire BHL team, we’d like to thank Niloufar for her dedication toward the site and her amazing leadership she’s demonstrated over the last year.

A new element that has been rolled out in recent months is the Bridal Hot List: Vendor Hot Pick award program. Vendors are able to apply to the site to be considered for the program and are rated by our staff on many different criteria for quality. Based off of our research and combined with the relevance of the latest industry trends, a vendor can be given this award and are welcome to display on their site or other properties. BHL will be heavily promoting the Vendor Hot Pick program in Q3 of 2013 and beyond, giving vendors a tremendous opportunity to make a name for themselves in the industry and to our thousands of unique monthly readers.

The future of Bridal Hot List is looking especially bright. Recently we’ve accepted approximately a half dozen new writers to the stable, all of which bring incredible insight and unique flair. With such a diverse set of perspectives, BHL has more relevant content than most (if not all) of the other bridal blogs combined. As the site continues to grow and our visitors keep going up, new opportunities for writers and vendors will make their way into the site over the next year.

My final word in this 300th post goes out to you, the loyal reader. On behalf of the entire team here, we’re honored to have you visit our site on a daily basis. A lot of time and effort goes into the content and we’re so glad that our visitors enjoy reading it. We’re thrilled to be your resource for the latest bridal and wedding trends and promise to you that we’re only getting started here at Bridal Hot List. Stay tuned, as this is only the tip of the iceberg for what we have in store for the future.

TLC’s Four Weddings Episode Recap: June 20th

Friday is here! Fridays are the best right? I mean, I love them. Not only does it mean I get to start my weekend, but I get to provide you a recap of one of my favorite wedding shows on TLC. Yep, its a good day for sure! Did you tune into last night’s episode of  “Four Weddings” on TLC?  What are your thoughts of the four brides and their weddings? What details stood out for you? Was there one bride which had a total “wow” wedding day? If you missed it, we have a recap of the episode right here:

Who are the Brides?: TLC

  • Christian is ready to walk down the aisle at a grand cathedral where her ceremony takes place. Inside the cathedral there are high ceiling, stunning details, and a large aisle. The ceremony had little decor, however the bridesmaids wore lavender colored short dresses, each holding a small bouquet.  After a traditional ceremony, the bride and her groom together with their guests light up paper lanterns and release them into the sky. Following, guests go to a night club where the reception takes place. Inside there are many candles, stunning chandeliers, and white flowers. The cake is a three tier white cake with a masquerade mask with feathers as the cake topper  Guests join the bride on the dance-floor as her groom throws dollar bills from above into the crowd. Guests enjoy this unique money dance.TLC
  • Ashley a bride who has planned her wedding since she was a young teenager and is now ready to marry the love of her life.  The day begins outside on the green lawn of the plantation venue.  The alter is rustic with a chandelier hanging in the middle.  Ashley makes her grand entrance for the ceremony on a white horse and carriage. A very Fairytale entrance. After a heartfelt ceremony, the married couple release white doves, and then exit in the horse drawn carriage.  Inside the plantation venue, the reception begins. The space features blue up-lighting, vintage style decor, and tall floral centerpieces. A shout out for the guest bride, Christian for her birthday, and everyone was on the dance-floor having a good time.TLC
  • Courtney  has a love for nature and elegance. Her wedding takes place at a local zoo. First, the ceremony takes place at a church. The decoration consisted of pink and white flowers on the pews, and four grand floral arrangements at the front. After sealing the ceremony with a kiss, guests travel to the zoo for the reception. As guests enter, they are greeted by some of the animals such as an elephant, peacock, and flamingos. Inside the reception space, it is decorated with pink, white, and gold colors. The guest tables have a soft pink linen, gold chargers with pink napkins, gold candleholders, and a few small floral arrangements. The cake was a five tier white and gold cake with some intricate details. After a buffet dinner, the dessert table is set with array of desserts to choose from. At the end of the night there is a second line, and Courtney changes into a short white dress with silver beading on the top.TLC
  • Joy is ready to have a good time at her wedding.  Her wedding day is at a hotel and the ceremony inside. The ceremony space is all white with candles lining the aisle. After a jump over the broom, the couple is ready to party with their guests. The reception space features blue up-lighting, trees with hanging candles and peacock feathers.  After dinner, guests enjoy liquor filled cupcakes. The dance floor was high energy and everyone was packed on the dance floor. A second line joined in and the party continued.

A Hot Detail:  There was one detail from each wedding that stood out for me. I really loved Christian’s wedding gown. It was a lace with beading all throughout. This dress was made for her, and she looked gorgeous!  Okay, so this is a first, but I also loved Ashley’s wedding gown as well! Yep. What I absolutely loved about her gown was EVERYTHING! Her dress was a fitted satin mermaid trumpet style with feathers on the top. Totally stunning and simply beautiful. Perfect gown for this bride.    I actually loved the overall style and design at Courtney’s wedding. I loved the romantic feel of it all. All the details were simply gorgeous and elegant.   was a fitted A-line lace dress with a beautiful veil. It was perfect for her vintage style wedding.   What I thought was a “wow” factor at Joy’s wedding reception was the ice luge. The large ice luge had the signature drink flow right down into the guest’s glass. I thought this was super unique and fun for guests. A fun way to get your drink!

Who won?: Congrats to Courtney for winning!  She and her husband won an all expenses paid honeymoon to St. Martin.  I was not surprised at all about Courtney winning.  As soon as I saw her wedding, and all the gorgeous details, I knew she would win.  While I can not account for the food since I wasn’t actually there, all the other details – venue,  bride’s dress, and originality – were owned by Courtney’s wedding. I loved how it was so romantic and every single detail from the ceremony to the desserts, was absolutely lovely.  Those flowers and the gold and pinks, Swoon!  Every cent spent was worth it! Fantastic job Courtney!   So how did the other three brides score? Ashley came in second, Joy in third, and Christian in fourth. Were you surprised by the results?  Love to hear from you, so please share!

TLC’s Four Weddings Sneak Peek: June 20th

It is Thursday and that means it is time for this week’s sneak peak of “Four Weddings” on TLC. Are you ready?   If you have never seen the show, let me tell you a little about it.  This show features four completely different brides who have never met, and attend each other’s weddings with one wedding being deemed “the winner” at the end. The brides rate the food, dress, venue, originality, and overall experience of each wedding, except for their own. At the end, all the scores of each bride are tallied, and the one with the highest score wins an all expenses paid honeymoon.

TLC

On tonight’s episode the four brides are :  A bride who loves the New Orleans details, a bride who has a princess dream wedding, a high energy and fun loving bride, and a bride who has an elegant zoo wedding.  Each of these brides share their unique style and taste on their wedding day. Which bride will be your favorite? Which bride’s detail’s will you like the best? Which dress will stand out the most? What ceremony will be the most touching? Which bride do you think will win? What do I think? You will have to wait until Friday where I will provide a re-cap on this episode. All I can tell you know is that you do not want to miss this episode! Tuxedo Styles and Trends from Friar Tux Shop

As much as we love the weekends and so sad to see it end, we get all hyped up when we know that weddings and trends are on our agenda on this lovely Monday morning. At BHL, we are always seeking the hottest and most current trends in all things wedding. The trend that we are so excited about is all about the groom and his groomsmen. We want our men to look dapper and wedding ready right? We know our brides will look as gorgeous as can be, but the men? The groom? His entourage for the wedding day? Well, we want him to look as handsome as can be for his beautiful bride. What is hot and trending in menswear for the men of the wedding?

We asked our friend Eric Acuña, district Manger at Friar Tux Shop, to share with us what the hottest trends are for the groom and his men:

Everyone is looking to customize their wedding. From linens to flowers, everyone wants that “unique look.” When it comes to wedding attire, there’s a bigger urge to wear something “different from the rest.”

Current trends lean towards slim fit tuxedos and suits. Light and Charcoal Grey are the most sought out colors for 2013. Many brides who Google or Pintrest words like, “Vintage” “Rustic” and “Chic,” are finding grey tuxedos and suits at the top of their searches.

How can brides and grooms create their unique look? By visiting Friar Tux Shop. Friar Tux offers over 50 styles of tuxedos and suits in all colors and fits. They carry all the classic colors, along with six shades of grey, six shades of tan/chocolate, and plenty of slim fit styles. You can choose to rent or buy. With many options to mix and match, every groom has the option to create his own look.

The “unique” options are available through their many vest and tie styles. Many of their colored coats have matching vests, which is a home run for the bride looking for the “vintage” look. Self-tie ties, are offered in an array of colors for the groom who wants to tie his own knot. Many grooms are seeking out special knots to wear on their big day! Here’s a few knots most popularly tied by grooms for 2013.

  • Eldredge Knot Inverted

TLC’s Four Weddings Winning Bride: June 13th

Good morning weekenders!  What a gorgeous day it is here at BHL. What is going on outside, well, I will enjoy that a bit later, but for now,  we have the winner of TLC’s “Four Weddings” from this week’s episode. A wonderful Saturday indeed.  The winning bride from Thursday’s episode is Megan! Congrats to this bride and her beautifully planned Southern wedding.  Her vintage and lace wedding scored her a total of 88 points out of 120 points. Here is the breakdown.

Venue: 26 points
Dress:  15 points
Experience: 21points
Food: 26 points

The other three brides really liked the venue and food the best, as she scored the highest in these two categories. The venue was at an old Plantation. Perfect for her vintage Southern wedding. The ceremony took place outside in a gorgeous setting.  All the beautiful details of the old world charm was evident in this venue.  I really loved this venue as well. The ceremony space set outside, and the stunning tent for the outside reception was perfect for this Southern bride. Just lovely.

The food. Well since I can not account for the food, since I was not there to taste it, but from the score of the other brides, it seems that her food was a hit. Good tasting food is such an important element of a wedding. It can it can either leave guests happy and satisfied, or unhappy and starving. So great job Megan for providing something tasty and delicious for your guests to enjoy at your wedding.

Congrats to Megan for winning an all expenses paid honeymoon. After all the planning of her vintage and Southern wedding, together with her husband, she is ready to pack her bags, and journey to a place of relaxation and luxury. Sounds like a great time. Enjoy and have a lovely time Megan, you deserve it!
