Laguna Beach Engagement Session from Jaime Davis Photography

I will always be a fan of beach engagement sessions. I guess it has to do with growing up in Southern California and being a total Cali girl. I love the beach, and can not imagine living anywhere else. The same is true with this super adorable and sweet couple.  They love the beach and chose Laguna Beach, California as their spot to capture some of their lovely moments as soon to be newlyweds. You can tell how much this couple loves not only the breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, but each other. Their love is so obvious with the stunning images all captured by our very talented friend at  Jaime Davis Photography. These images are so amazing, that I kind of want to sneak away and head to Laguna Beach for a bit. Enjoy this e-session and fall in love with this gorgeous couple and their day at the beach!

From Jaime Davis Photography …

I had an amazing time capture Mollie and Brenton’s love story. Mollie went to Australia to become an Au Pair and next thing you know she finds her soul mate. These two even scaled some crazy rocks for me, now that is trusting your photographer! I got some amazing shots and had a blast getting to know these two better before their big day!

July 4th Wedding Weekend Must Do’s

With the Fourth of July  here, and all the barbecues  beach days, and relaxing activities, weddings are also here. Yep, many couples will choose a long weekend to celebrate their love with close friends and family. Why not? I am a total fan of long weekends and weddings. It is the perfect way to spend time with the ones you love for more than just one day. When the wedding day comes, it is hard to spend that quality time with each and every guest. So why not extend the celebrations into a few more days? I think that the fourth of July weekend is one of those weekends where you can totally do this! Here are some ideas of how you can celebrate with your guests at two of my favorite Southern Orange County spots!

  • Dana Point Harbor: A quaint beach town in the lovely city of Dana Point, California. Besides its gorgeous views and beach-side living, this town offers so many fun filled activities for you and your guests. You can go  kayaking,  stand up paddle boarding,  and jet skiing. Want to go Whale-watching? Sure, you can do this too!  What is great is that if any of your guests have children, this is a perfect location for them. There is a small beach called “baby beach” which has shallow water, no waves,  soft sands, and plenty of room to make sand castles! So, your guests who are parents can really enjoy a day at the beach without the worry about waves and a huge crowd. Kids love this place! You can also enjoy seafood at many of the restaurants on the harbor, or if you are feeling like a treat, then there is a famous ice cream place too. Kids will love this as well.  If you are not feeling like going to a restaurant  then you can have a barbecue with your guests. The harbor has some great spots with a grill, and covered picnic tables. The parking is free and the view? Well, the view is amazing. Imagine barbecuing, playing ball, games, or just relaxing…all on the gorgeous waters. It is incredible. So, if you are having a wedding on a long weekend like the 4th of July, then consider Dana Point Harbor. You and your guests will have a great time!

  • Laguna Beach: Ah, Laguna Beach, California. I may have mentioned this spot a few times before, but I really love this town. Not only does it offer spectacular ocean views from about anywhere you are, it has some of the finest eateries. Whatever your palate desires, there is a restaurant for you and your guests. Want an ocean-view seat? No problem, there are several fantastic places with perfect views of the ocean. Enjoy sunset views with dinner with your guests. Laguna Beach of course has a main beach area where you can play basketball, walk the boardwalk, get some rays, swim, or just relax in the sun. I can go on and on about this amazing spot, but I want to bring your attention to a exclusive and private spot. If you are having your wedding celebrations on a long weekend and want to avoid the large crowds, then I have the perfect place for you. Hotel Laguna is located right in the heart of Laguna Beach. If you stay at this hotel, you have access to the a private beach which comes fully equipped with chairs, lounge chairs, towels, and a server. You do not have to worry about getting to the beach early to hold your spot. It is a fabulous hotel and great service.  Treat yourself and your guests to an amazing weekend in Laguna Beach, California. If you are looking for fine foods, gorgeous ocean views, beach side fun, or a relaxing time, then this is the place for you.

From Table7 Events:

Nicole and Kolin were married on September 29, 2012 in Laguna Beach, CA.  This was an intimate black-tie, on the beach, affair!  The guests were asked to meet at the Montage where they were picked up by a trolley to take them to the ceremony destination.  The ceremony took place in a private cove with 60 guests at Three Arch Bay (a gated community in Laguna, so the beach is semi-private) and it holds a special place in the groom’s heart because it is also where Kolin grew up playing.  When the guests stepped off the trolly, they were greeted with flip flops and a decent of 128 steps to the sunset setting.  The couple provided a bar service and a violin player while everyone made their way to the ceremony site.  After the ceremony, the guests were offered a foot bath at the top of the steps which included tubs full of water, red rose petals, eucalyptus oil and towels to dry off.  A complete necessity to rinse off sandy feet and slip on the Louboutins.

The trolley whisked everyone back to the Montage to celebrate.  The reception was held at The Studio restaurant at the Montage overlooking the Pacific.  Nicole and Kolin chose to have more of a cocktail reception with a lounge setting which included stations with citrus halibut, risotto bar, and premium bar service.  The couple also offered cigars courtesy of the Cigar Guys.  Family heirlooms and traditions including a photo of each guest at the wedding, an heirloom bowl filled with Jelly Bellies (Kolin’s mom always has them out at home), apple pies were shipped in from Julian, and Nicole also made homemade granola for guest take aways.  At 10:00 pm, the entire wedding moved to the hotel’s piano bar where they continued the celebration.

Laguna Beach Wedding From Sara Jordan Photography

I am loving the yellow flowers which pop down the aisle of this beachside wedding ceremony in Laguna Beach, California. The color yellow makes me happy and full of joy. The perfect color for a bride who can’t stop smiling on her wedding day.  Yellow is not the only color at this wedding that makes my heart overjoyed. Do you know what the bride’s “something blue” is? I am in love with it. Just wait until you see what it is. It is stunning! Ready to see the super fun photos captured by Sara Jordan Photography?

From Sara Jordan Photography:

When Kora and Delvin met on Kora’s first day of high school, Delvin told her, “you’re beautiful and someday, I’m going to marry you.” After school they went their separate ways. 14 years later, they connected again and were engaged within two weeks. Kora’s wedding dress came from Kleinfeld Bridal in New York. She wore electric blue shoes for her something blue. During their ceremony Delvin and Kora decided to arrange their chairs in a circle so that all the people they love would surround them. At the end of their ceremony the couple did a butterfly release. Their wedding reception was held at The Hills Hotel in Laguna Hills, California. They spent the whole day laughing and I believe this amazing couple is going to be doing that for the rest of their life.

Laguna Beach Wedding: A Romantic Beach Affair

A love story which began in the beach town of Laguna Beach, California, turned into a romantic beach wedding. What I love is the simple and sweetness of this wedding. No bridesmaids or groomsmen, just two love birds uniting with their closest friends and family, overlooking the stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. I absolutely love this bride! Beautiful and graceful, this bride has it all, and shows it all off at her beach side wedding.

The love and sweetness is captured by inGrace Photography. Get ready to fall in love as you browse through the photos.

From our beach loving bride…

We got married on Saturday, September 3, 2012 , Labor Day Weekend. Our wedding took place at our favorite place – Laguna Beach, California. We got married at the Laguna Beach Heisler Park Gazebo overlooking the ocean. My sister Puneh Alai married us as she had an interesting role in how we came together. Laguna Beach is the town where we fell in love.

We had a Baha’i Wedding Ceremony and the back side of the que cards used by the “officiant” artistically and creatively spelled out the words L-O-V-E. Farzaneh Farhand was the florist, a long time dear family friend. The wedding flowers were as bright, modern, and hued like our wedding day.

I wore a fitted strapless white tafetta dress with a black satin bow, black heels, and black and silver jewelry to match. My hair and makeup was done at my favorite salon, the TriBeca Salon in Aliso Viejo. Lucas wore a Hugo Boss suit and an understated modern thin black tie.

We had our immediate families with just a handful of long time close family friends, making a total of exactly 19 guests. A nice coincidence as this is a very special number for both of us. We were honored to have guests from as far away as Florida, Nebraska, Kansas, and Denver.  A special guest of honor was Lucas’s 81 year old grandmother who had never seen the ocean until her grandson’s wedding!

I arrived in a 1920 award winning Model T-Ford, driven by my mom’s neighbor Bob. Who said Californians are not friendly?! This was something I  always dreamed of, and it was truly an honor to drive to the ceremony in such a classic and historic piece of history. It added a very old classy touch to a very understated and chic wedding event.

The background music consisted of melodic music from our past year of courting. Slightly Stupid’s “Ocean”, was playing in the background as I walked down the aisle.

After the ceremony, Lucas and I were driven to Casa Del Camino Hotel for our dinner reception. The reception was held at the hotel’s top level, The Roof Top. It has sweeping views of the endless ocean and romantic Laguna Beach behind them.

The reception was a sit down three course dinner with the continued black and white theme and variety of bouquets similar to my bouquet. Each table setting had hurricane candles and strewn sea shells. The wedding cake was from Cinderella Cakes and it was a simple understated two tiered cake with sea shells and a simple bow on top. My sister prepared a collage of pictures of our first year together, reminding us of our amazing courtship.

Each guest took home an original sea shell which I found in Chesapeake Bay, Maryland. We stayed the night at Casa Del Camino Hotel. Our honeymoon suite name was the Moroccan Suite. It is a very beach, eclectic, and artsy theme which we loved! The photography was done by In Grace Photography. Kristin and Mark Paulkoner at the time were just our amazing photographers but have now become close friends. This husband and wife team are wonderful to have at your wedding as they exude love themselves, and this shows in the pictures they take for their clients! They have since photographed the newborn baby photos of the our son Kai (Kai means Ocean in Hawaiian by the way, go figure!).

I loved everything of the day, and had a wonderful time!
