TLC’s Four Weddings Episode Recap: February 8th

Did you watch last night’s episode of “Four Weddings” on TLC?  What are your thoughts of the four brides and their weddings? What details stood out for you? Here is a recap of the episode:

Who are the Brides?:

Bride, Thais

Bride, Thais

  • Thais, a bride who starts her wedding day with a formal beach ceremony. There are white chairs with black sashes, a white alter with crystal candle holders with black and white candles, and white flowers. Walking down the aisle is Thais’s three little dogs dressed in dress and suit, and then followed by Thais with her dad and step dad. After saying ” I Do”,at their elegant beach-side ceremony, guests enter a ticki hut for cocktail hour. The reception took place under a large white tent sit on the beach. Inside, the black and white colors continued. The table decor included a tall vase with a huge display of white flowers, white patterned linens, and candles. Prior to dinner,  Brazilian dancers entertained guests. The dessert table was a large array of candy, cannoli’s, cupcakes, and  the wedding cake set on different cake stands. All in black and white. Guests danced the night away with the dancers on the dance floor.
  • Rebecca is a bride who wants to bring the elements of nature inside at her wedding. Her ceremony is set inside and featured white rose petals in a swirl shape down the aisle, white stands with black lit lanterns, and a twig archway for the bride and groom to stand under. After personal vows are shared, and announced “husband and wife”, guests enter cocktail hour. Cocktail hour was very friendly, as all the guests greeted each other and made all feel comfortable. Tree branches, greenery, candles, and twigs were all featured inside the reception space. Sharing the groom’s Jamaican background, Jamaican food was served for dinner. With such a friendly group of guests and up beat music, the dance floor was never empty.
  • Wanda a bride who has a brunch wedding set at the Polo club. Her love for Christmas is incorporated into the wedding day decor. The ceremony took place at the lawn on the Polo Field and all lady guests wearing bonnets. The decor consisted of white chairs all set in a circle, red poinsettias, and red rose petals down the aisle.  On the veranda, cocktail hour took place. A large metal tree display had cocktail drinks hanging from it for guests to grab and enjoy. The drink colors were red and green to go with the Christmas theme. To find their seat inside the reception, guests will find their names on a snowflake ornament hanging off the Christmas tree. The reception featured the red and gold colors, a beautiful fireplace, and simple decor on the guest tables. Even in the daytime, guests got on the dance floor.
  • Nataly a bride who loves sparkle and bling. She wears million and millions of dollars of jewelry on, and has to have body guards with her at all times. The wedding begins with cocktail hour prior to the ceremony start. Inside the synagogue, the ceremony took place. There was a white hoopa, with hanging crystals, and crystal chandelier  and white roses. The ceremony was a traditional Jewish ceremony. With the ceremony complete, guests enter a large ballroom for the reception. It had large candelabras with huge flower display on top, crystal candles, purple up lighting, and white draping all around.

Cool factor:  There was one detail from each wedding that stood out for me. What I thought was super unique at  Thais’s reception was the large photo of Thais and her groom kissing underwater. I thought the photo was so beautiful and added such a personal touch to the decor. What a unique and super cute idea! I loved it!  I liked that Rebecca  had a signature drink during cocktail hour. It was called ” Don’t you worry about a Ting”. I thought this was perfect for her Caribbean style wedding. Guests seem to enjoy the taste, so that is always a good thing!  I loved Wanda’s dress. It was a lace fitted dress which she also styled with a lace bonnet. It fit her so perfectly and that bonnet was a great touch to go with her wedding location. She looked lovely and sweet.  At Nataly’s wedding, I loved when they had a belly dancer perform for the guests. It was a fun version of entertainment at a wedding and such a great way to get people to join in to dance. Guests seem to really enjoy learning how to shake it like a belly dancer. So fun!

Who won?

Congrats to Wanda

Congrats to Wanda

Congrats to Wanda for winning!  She and her husband won an all expenses paid honeymoon to Fiji.  I was not totally surprised  about the results. I actually thought Thais would have come into first place. However, Wanda’s venue was pretty unique and she was able to pull off a nice Christmas wedding without it being too over the top. All the small and simple Christmas touches worked really well. Way to go Wanda!  So how did the other three brides score? Thais came in second, Nataly in third, and Rebecca in fourth place. Were you surprised by the results? Love to hear from you, so please share!

Three Great Ways a Groom Can Help with the Wedding Planning

Let’s be honest, when it comes to planning a wedding, the groom typically either takes a back seat to the bride or doesn’t have anything to do with the matter at all. Nevertheless, even if the couple-to-be is armed with a top notch Wedding Planner, we have three easy tasks that most grooms might actually be excited to help out with.

Find the DJ or Live Band

Grooms like music and most will be more than happy to take on the task of finding the DJ or go hunting for a great band. It’s an exciting endeavor to find a sick DJ, or find that perfect band that can bring a tremendous amount of fun, excitement and energy to the wedding and the reception. More often than not being able to check out the DJ or Bands will involve meeting them in person, plus seeing them perform at a venue such as a local bar, which most grooms wouldn’t consider a chore at all.

Find the Videographer

In this day and age of technology where everyone is armed with a video camera in their pocket, many guys have taken up both videography and photography as a hobby. When SLR cameras from Nikon and Canon came down to consumer level prices, this also opened the door to many would-be enthusiasts to engage in their passion armed with professional grade equipment. If your future groom is someone that loves photography or enjoys putting together home videos, it’s highly probable that he’ll also greatly enjoy the search for a photographer or videographer. More often than not your wedding planner will give you a list of optimal vendors to choose from given your date, budget and venue. From there, your groom can check out the leads by visiting websites to view portfolios, or even meeting up with a photographer or videographer locally (coffee shops do nicely) to find the right fit.

Honeymoon Travel Details

Another aspect of the wedding the groom can easily take care of and at the same time be happy to engage in will be the honeymoon details. Everyone likes to travel and figure out where they are going to spend one of their best vacations ever. Your groom in this case can go hunting for the best deal and find out where in the world you two can spend your first days and nights as husband and wife. This might involve talking to a travel agent (yes, they still exist), talking to friends, reading blog entries about smart honeymoon ideas, and hunting online for the vacation of a lifetime. Most guys would jump at the idea of planning a honeymoon, whether you are travelling abroad, going on a cruise or doing the standard trip to Hawaii.

TLC’s Four Weddings Winning Bride: January 25th

Who was the winning bride from Friday’s TLC’s “Four Weddings” show? Kale!  Her wedding was non-traditonal and it got her a total score  of 82 points out of 120 points. Here is the breakdown.

Venue: 16 points
Dress:  30 points
Experience: 18 points
Food: 18 points

The other three brides really loved her dress which was one of four costume changes. Her ceremony dress was beautiful. The top is a beaded bodice with a beautiful beaded sash. The bottom made up of organza flowed beautifully as she walked or danced. Kale looked absolutely  beautiful! It was the perfect dress for her.

Congrats to Kale for winning an all expenses paid honeymoon. Even though her wedding was non-traditional, Kale and her husband enjoy the traditional honeymoon in paradise. Time to pack up their bags and enjoy a relaxing and enjoyable honeymoon.

TLC’s Four Weddings Episode Recap: January 25th

Did you watch last night’s episode of “Four Weddings” on TLC?  What are your thoughts of the four brides and their weddings? What details stood out for you? Here is a recap of the episode:

Who are the Brides?:

  • Kale, a bride who is non-traditional and wants to dance the night away at her wedding. Being non traditional, the wedding takes place at a Design Center in San Francisco, California. The ceremony featured some elegant decor of beautiful trees, candles, and white orchids. Prior to the Kale walking down the aisle, there was a dance piece performed by a dancer.  Personal vows were shared with each other and also with Kale’s daughter. Variety of food buffet style, simple tree flower centerpieces, and a personal dance from the bride, all featured at Kale’s reception. Four costume changes took place with Kale: ceremony, dance performance, dance cocktail dress, and a dress for cutting cake and end of evening.
  • Jennifer cruises with her groom and all her guests around San Francisco Bay on her wedding day. Prior to ceremony, champagne was handed to each guest. On the top deck of the yacht, the ceremony took place with silver and purple colors, and a ivy covered arch. Down at the lower deck of the boat, the reception took place with decor of white linens, glass vases with orchids floating inside, candles, and purple sashes on chairs.
  • Christa a bride who has waited 12 years to say ” I do”, gets married on a golf course.  The ceremony was set with white tulle and black bows down the aisle, a white rose decorated alter, all with a backdrop of the golf course. After a short ceremony, guests go inside for the reception. The colors of Christa’s wedding were black and white with some bling. The centerpieces were glass vases with white flowers, and rhinestones. The tables had white linens, black sashes on the chairs, and wedding favors packaged in small black boxes.
  • Araceli a bride who features some of her Mexican heritage at her wedding. Set in a beautiful garden setting, the ceremony featured a gazebo with hanging jewels, white roses flowers, and tall green trees. Once they both were under the gazebo, in their ceremony, they had a wedding laso put around them which was part of the Mexican ceremony tradition. The cocktail hour had passed appetizers, food stations, and the Mariachi band playing in the background. The reception was also set outside on the green lawn with the lovely trees around. Her something blue colors was evident in her decor. The guest tables had  silver rhinestone chargers, and white vase with white, blue, and purple flowers. There was also blue lighting on the trees. The dance floor had line dancing, and full of energy and fun.

Cool factor:  There was one detail from each wedding that stood out for me. What I loved at Kale’s reception was the ice cream bar. I know I did not taste the ice cream, however it looked so good and you can not go wrong with ice cream. I think besides the wedding cake, it gives guests something fun and good to have for dessert. Who does not like ice cream?    I liked the personal touch that  Jennifer  had for her wedding favors. Jennifer and her family made ring shaped cookies for all their guests. I also liked that the bride herself handed them out to each guest as they walked off the boat. What a great personal touch! What I thought was really sweet at Christa’s wedding was the Southern Rock music tribute to her dad who had passed away a few years ago. I thought it was a great way to bring energy and love to such a special day in Christa’s life.  At Araceli’s wedding, she wanted to incorporate her Mexican heritage, and so at the processional, a Mariachi Band played music. As Araceli and her groom walked the aisle, and then guests then followed, the Mariachi band played. I thought this was very unique and a great way to incorporate the Mexican culture.

Who won? Congrats to Kale for winning!  She and her husband won an all expenses paid honeymoon to Caribbean islands. I was not surprised  at all about the results.  While I can not account for the food since I wasn’t actually there, I did like the originality, venue, and the dress at Kale’s wedding. Her non-traditional style wedding really showed with four costume changes, a design center as the wedding location,  and her personal dance that she performed. Way to put on a great wedding, Kale!  So how did the other three brides score? Christa came in second, Araceli in third, and Jennifer in fourth place. Were you surprised by the results?

  • Food: 30 points

TLC’s Four Weddings Episode Recap: January 18th

Did you watch last night’s episode of “Four Weddings” on TLC?  What are your thoughts of the four brides and their weddings? What details stood out for you? Here is a recap of the episode:

Who are the Brides?:

  • Zoranda, a princess bride who loves family. The wedding starts at a beautiful church with it’s high cathedral ceilings, stained glass windows, and long center aisle. The traditional Catholic ceremony starts with her grandmother walking her down the aisle and her daughter as the flower girl. After enjoying a large spread of food at the cocktail hour,  guests enter the ballroom for the reception. The reception features a large white dance floor, purple up lighting, and tall centerpieces with purple, white, and pink flowers. After dancing the night away, guests enjoy a firework show.
  • Anumita a bride who is in love with New York City has her wedding city set in, of course, New York City.  The ceremony features a gorgeous hoopa, candle lit tall vases along the aisle, and chandeliers hanging above.  Anumita’s dress featured a long beautiful veil which flowed nice down the aisle. The couple had a Jewish ceremony. To find their seat at the reception, guests would pick up a New York Metro card. Tall chandelier style vases with full flowers were found on each guest table as the centerpieces. The whole room was large with chandeliers hanging tall, some purple up lighting, and candles. The dance floor was full of energy among all the guests.
  • Karen a bride who has a destination wedding set outside Long Island, NY. Guests arrive to the wedding on a short boat ride over to the Fire Island. Dockside, the ceremony featured a white alter, flowers, guests from the community, and Karen’s two son’s who walked her down the aisle. Since the wedding was in October, and weather is cold, all guests were offered a blanket to keep warm during the ceremony. Inside a covered veranda, the reception took place. Simple decor consisting of small vases of flowers, candles, and twinkle lights. A buffet full of various stations were enjoyed by guests. The dance continued with a live country band and some line dancing.
  • Marie loves Halloween and Gothic details. As guests walk into the cathedral, they are greeted by performers on stilts, and then find their seat. A very dark space was lit with candelabras all around.  At the front of the ceremony, there were performers in ballerina outfits, moving around. Personal vows were shared between the couple.  Cocktail hour featured a tarot card reader, and some unique decor. The ceremony space is transformed into a beautiful reception room with red up lighting, long tables of black linens, lit candelabras, red flowers, and skulls. The cake was very nontraditional. It was a black three tier cake with red roses cascading down the side, and words of ” Till Death Do Us Part” on the front.

Cool factor:  There was one detail from each wedding that stood out for me. What I loved at Zoranda’s reception was the big news that was shared with all their guests. They announced that they were pregnant. I thought it a really sweet way to share such news with your closest friends and family. A total family affair.   Being a big fan of dancing, I really enjoyed Anumita’s  Bollywood Indian dance with her bridesmaids, and then later with her groom. I think it so much fun when a bride shares something traditional and fun with all her guests. It is not only entertaining, yet, special at the same time. What a great way to get the party started.   What I thought was stylish at Karen’s wedding was the hanging branches above and chandeliers hanging off of them. I had never seen this decor, and thought it was pretty unique and lovely. Marie’s wedding had a lot of great details at her Gothic/Halloween/ Dark wedding theme. However, I really liked the guest table decor. The large gold candelabra with lush red roses, gold chargers, and skull napkin holders were really nice. It complimented the theme perfectly.

Who won? Congrats to Zoranda for winning!  She and her husband won an all expenses paid honeymoon to Cabos, Mexico. I was not surprised  at all about Zoranda winning. While I can not account for the food since I wasn’t actually there, I did like the originality, venue, and the dress at Zoranda’s wedding. The family affair theme really showed at her wedding. Her daughter as a flower girl, her grandmother walking her down, the pregnancy news, and small touches of family inspired decor all complimented her theme. Way to go Zoranda!  So how did the other three brides score? Karen came in second, Anumita in third, and Marie in fourth place. Were you surprised by the results? What did you think about Marie’s reaction?
