A woman’s perfume is like the grown up version of a mood ring- it can change just as often as you do. Perfume works in the same way all of your other beauty routines do- it should change depending on the occasion (silver glitter chunks are fun on Friday night on the dance floor, but not so much Wednesday morning at the office!). Here’s a quick guide on what to wear for your upcoming wedding events.

 

Bridal Showers

If you’re heading out to a bridal shower, spritz on something girly. Floral scents that sit warm on your skin have a way of feeling extra feminine. You’re going to have some girl fun with your girlfriends- live it up! ‘Ralph’ by Ralph Lauren is a classic sweet floral that sits well with most people. Look for tones similar to apples, cucumbers, rose, and magnolia.

 

Bachelorette Parties

Hitting the town with your bridal beauties? Reach for a scent that is a little more sexy and fun. Don’t over do it with any intense sharp scents, but do look for scents that have raspberry, grapefruit, and vanilla scents. We love Marc Jacob’s ‘Oh Lola’; it’s sensual without being overpowering or heavy. Plus, if you go light you can wear it during the day and just reapply for night.

 

Wedding Party Dinner

Going out with the groomsmen? Go light and fresh and fun. It’s a friendly party with the people the bride and groom love and trust the most. Lotus, orchid, and beachy scents are low maintenance and relaxed. MAC’s ‘Turquatic’ scent is like a day at the beach- light, fun, and free. This scent is sure to be a hit the groomsmen and bridesmaids alike.

 

Wedding Rehearsal

Did you have fun at the wedding party dinner? The rehearsal dinner will be just like that- only a touch more formal. Soft scents like pears and jasmine with be sure to make you feel sweet hearted and romantic. Five Trending Lip Colors for Fall

Hey there bridal beauties, did you notice the leaves are changing? Well that means it’s time to switch up your look, too. Stash your summer shades away and let’s dive into what lip colors are trending right now.

If you’ve been loving coral and all the gorgeous oranges that have been trending, try out a more Autumn orange like ‘Made to Order’ by MAC ($15, MAC counters). It has a creamy texture and is one of Autumn’s most beautiful, easy to wear oranges. Go lightly with a touch of hydrating lip balm over it for a subtle look for bachelorette brunch, or wear some bold lip liner to create a sexy defined look for bachelorette parties.

If you’re looking for something a little cozier for fall that’s still versatile year round, pick up ‘Vixen’ by Covergirl ($8, drugstores).  It’s a light plummy red that you can dress down with a muted face, or dress up with warm cheeks. Five Hot Tips for Bridesmaids

Congratulations! You have been chosen to be the next best thing after being an actual bride. Think about it- you get to throw pre-parties with your friends, you can book yourself guilt-free spa treatments & beauty appointments, and you will ultimately spend an entire weekend lavishing in the joys of fantastic food, fashion, and friendship. Behold our Five Hottest Tips for the Bride’s Favorite Ladies.

1. Share your ideas with the bride, but don’t be hurt if she doesn’t use them. Most of the time, the bride has a pretty good idea of exactly what she wants her wedding day to look like. That doesn’t mean she has thought or heard of everything! Be open with your suggestions because you never know what might strike her fancy. If she signals for you to slow down, then respect her wishes and share only the best few ideas that you find. At the end of the day, it’s all about the bride and her specific vision.

2. Bring extra cash. No doubt you have heard of packing a wedding day emergency kit complete with bandages, aspirin, tweezers, and a needle & thread. These things are great, but they cannot buy you the conveniences that cash can offer. Let’s say you forgot something at home; you can pick up just about anything at the local drugstore. Taxi cabs take cash, waiters take cash, and cash-only bars take cash. Get the idea? Money talks!

3. Have a classy, unique toast prepared (hint: keep it short!). Should there be an unfortunate situation where the Maid of Honor bawls through the entire toast, is too nervous, or no one could hear her, have a few thoughtful lines prepared that sum up how special/hilarious/happy/thankful the bride and groom are, and deliver them like a boss. A nod to the parents in case someone forgets to thank them is another quick go-to toast and absolutely necessary if they are not otherwise mentioned.

4. Ask the bride for a list of no-no’s, and stick to it! The bride most likely has a mental list of cringe worthy conversation topics (exes, wedding costs, bachelorette party secrets) and behavior (complaining, constant texting, smoking near her dress) that she is hoping to avoid during the bridal festivities. By approaching her with this request, it takes the pressure off her from having to bring it up or worse– address problems directly on her wedding day. Some brides will already have this list prepared, and be very vocal about her no-no’s. But if you know your bud has a hard time being assertive, this list will be a lifesaving tool for her to keep the no-no’s at bay so she can relax and have the perfect day.

5. Be familiar with the wedding day logistics. Your bridesmaid dress acts like a beacon for guests to come and request information. Since you’re in the bridal party, you must know everything about the reception, transportation, where gifts go, you-name-it, right? If you don’t, study up! Review maps of where the ceremony and reception will take place. Know alternate routes in case there are road closures or an accident. Be familiar with the timing of events, things to do in the area, where people should park, etc. because you can’t always count on those groomsmen to know!

One of the most fun perks of being in the bridal party (aside from the wedding, of course!) is a good girl’s night. A bachelorette party or night on the town is one of the best places to try out a new look. Here’s my guide to ditching the standard black eyeliner in favor of a fun trendy shade.

Stila Eyeliner in Lionfish ($20, beauty supply stores)

Stila’s eyeliners always go on smooth and have a great color payoff. Lionfish is an unbasic brown that is warm and a little glamorous. It’s the perfect shade for those of you looking to break out of a classic routine without being overwhelming. This shade is complimentary to every skin tone and will transition well into the fall. The gold tones give skin a subtle glow, which is perfect for summer.  Keep an eye out for this new staple shade, it’ll be your new favorite liner.

Covergirl Liquiline Blast in Silver Spark ($6-$7, drugstores)

 

A silvery-grey can help break any girl out of a dark eyeliner habit. The grey is neutral like black, but isn’t nearly as dramatic.  This shade in particular is smooth and smudgable, making it perfect for beginners or advanced glamour girls. Silver Spark is very complimentary to cooler skin tones and eye colors. The formula wears for a long time, but won’t be a pain to remove at the end of the night.  This low maintenance liner also transitions well from day to night.

Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in LSD ($19, beauty supply stores)

It’s almost impossible to talk about trendy eyeliners without mentioning Urban Decay’s line of liners. They recently rebooted their entire brand and rolled out a bunch of new shades in their famous 24/7 eyeliners. One of the breakout shades is LSD, a blue-toned shimmery liner. Don’t be intimidated by the blue though, this shade is fun, trendy, and surprisingly complimentary to many skin tones. LSD was initially introduced as a limited edition shade, but is now a part of the permanent line.  Thin application along the lash line gives a subtle sparkle, but packed on it creates a wide-eyed sultry look.

M.A.C. Pearlglide Eyeliner in Black Line ($16, M.A.C. counters)

Earthy tones are on the rise this summer, and this liner is one of the best ways to wear it! The Pearlglide formula is one of my personal favorites because of how smooth and soft it is. If you are more comfortable with black liner, this dark earthy shade may be your new go-to. The khaki green tone in this liner is very complimentary to warm skin tones and have the ability to bring a sparkle to green and brown eyes. Going lightly and tight on your eyes warms your face for a romantic look.

Covergirl Ink It! in Golden Ink ($5-$7, drugstores)

There’s no harm in going a little glam for girl’s night! Open up your eyes with a touch of gold, like this one from Covergirl. You can pair this with any of the other liners listed, and keep the gold on your inner corners. Small pops of color have been popping up everywhere, with gold leading the pack. This formula is incredibly well pigmented, so a little bit goes a long way. If you’re going super glam, use this liner as a shadow pencil for a golden glowy look.

Summer is here and so are summer lip trends! With weddings, bridal showers, and bachelorette parties filling out your summer schedule, take a moment to update your lip look with these five trending shades!

06 by Kate Moss for Rimmel ($4-$5, drugstores)

The shade simply called “06” is easily in my top five summer trending shades. Fashion icon Kate Moss paired up with Rimmel London for a limited run of lipsticks, and this cheeky coral is perfect for the season. This orange toned pink is perfect for transitioning from feminine pastels into free spirited, beachy summer tones.

Perky by Covergirl Blast Flipstick ($7-$10, drugstores)

Covergirl launched the flipstick line fairly recently, and they have been a clear winner season to season. Each product comes with two lip shades, one on each end. Perky’s pink is a clear cut winner this summer. This shade is playful while remaining appropriate for both day and night events. The formula wears all day with little wear and feels light going on. As a plus, the other end of Perky is a shimmery light pink, perfect for layering to create a more dramatic look.

Vegas Volt by MAC ($15, MAC Counters)

The bolder beauty mavens this summer have been diving into creamy orange tones, and that’s where Vegas Volt comes in. Vegas Volt is a creamy orangesicle shade that is just as fun as a weekend in its’ namesake- without breaking the bank! The creamy soft texture balances out the adventurous orange shade, making it the perfect balance of sweet and strong.  Bonus, the amplified formula used keeps the color staying creamy through dinner and drinks.

Apricot by Almay ($4-$5, drugstores)

Almay just released a line of liquid lip colors that are sheer with little fade out. The new line of liquid lip color offers lightweight color that goes on smooth and never feels sticky. Fairytale is the perfect name for this dreamy pink shade. Fairytale goes on creamy and soft, while working its’ magic in the color. The light pink blends into most summer wardrobes seamlessly and is going to be a forerunner for your new favorite daily lip color.

Top Five Nail Polish Shades for Summer

Summer is here, and that means that summer wedding events are just on the horizon. With bachelorette parties, showers, weddings, and everything else in between right around the corner, here are some fresh nail polish colors to wear at your next event. While the classic french manicure is a go-to for a reason, here are my five favorite shades that are more fun and adventurous.

 

Papaya Punch by China Glaze ($4-$8, beauty supply stores)

Papaya Punch is the perfect compliment to a summer mimosa with fellow bridesmaids. The yellow-toned orange makes the bright punch pop on any skin tone. China Glaze polishes also wears for a few days before major chips or nicks, so you won’t have to worry about a messy looking manicure. Plus, it’s an excellent accent to floral dresses as well as the pop of color you may need to brighten an outfit.

 

Collide by Illamasqua ($17, Sephora)

Collide is one of the strongest shades Illamasqua has released so far, and it’s proven time and time again why. This powerful pop of pink stands out on all skin tones and its’ formula rarely shows any signs of wear and tear. A few coats of Collide will last you an entire weekend, giving you more time to enjoy yourself and not worry about touching up your nails. A bright fuchsia is daring, fun, and stylish. For some extra summer fun, go with a shade that hints at sunshine and mojitos. Electric Pineapple is just that- electric. This China Glaze shade sits in at a cozy spot between yellow and green without looking icky. This compliments earthy tones and brightens up cream tones. Dress it up with dark jewelry to make it pop at night, and dress it down with silver and white gold during the day.

If you’re feeling something a little more conservative for your event, Cotton Candy by Revlon is a fresh take on a favorite. This light pink has a rose gold tint to it, warming it up more than a basic pastel pink. Two to three coats of Cotton Candy will completely cover your claws, plus it has a little extra something to it- it’s scented! That’s right, it actually smells like cotton candy! It’s nothing offensive, and it doesn’t smell like chemicals which is what I was afraid of before trying it. It’s a neat little novelty that makes both this shade and this formula a must have for summer.

 

Turquoise & Caicos by Essie ($6-$8, beauty supply stores)

If you want to show your camaraderie to the bride, this could be your ‘something blue’. Essie’s shade Turquoise & Caicos is a turquoise tinted Tiffany blue. I love the instant mermaid glow it brings to all skin tones. Essie shades are trusted for a reason- their formula lasts through hard wear and goes on smooth and evenly. This shade proves to be versatile with different outfits and looks too, making it a must for all your upcoming summer events.
